Chapter 43

Heart pumping, sword still in hand, Ginny took a deep breath. She then turned and saw Harry slumped on the ground. Dropping the sword, she rushed toward him.

“Harry!” she said, dropping to her knees. His eyes were closed and his glasses were askew. She lightly picked up his head and set it in her lap.

“Come on Harry, wake up!” she said. Slowly his eyes opened and looked up into her own. He let out a groan and tried to sit up.

“No. Just relax for a minute.” She said, gently pushing him back down. He nodded and laid his head back down onto her left leg.

Just as she was about to say something to him, a twig snapped close by. “Who’s there?” a thundering voice said.

Instinctively, Ginny looked for the invisibility cloak. She found it close to Harry’s leg and she grabbed it. She then threw it across the both of them as a large shadow walked out from behind the trees. He was holding a familiar crossbow in his hands and had an angry expression.

“Show yourself!” Hagrid said, pointing the crossbow in every direction. At one point, he had it pointed directly at them, making Ginny’s heart leap in her throat. He then walked right next to the boulder that had all the stuff on it. The pacifier was emitting a black smoke, but was fading away. Luckily, Hagrid didn’t notice the items and walked away from them.

“We have to get out of here.” Ginny said and stood up. She helped him to his feet and she placed his arm around her neck. He had a limp in his right leg, and he was holding onto his ribs, but there didn’t seem to be any permanent damage. Under the invisibility cloak, she began her way out of the forest.

“Wait! Get the stuff.” Harry said. Ginny really didn’t want to see those things (let alone touch them) again. But she turned back and grabbed them. The pacifier wasn’t smoking but looked charred and no longer had that magical hum around it. She held onto the sword in one hand and held onto Harry with the other as she made her way back up to the castle.

Their trek back up to the castle was slow, but purposeful. They didn’t talk as they trudged their way up the many staircases. Ginny was walking back to the common room, but before they made it to the Fat Lady, Harry pulled her along a different corridor.

“Where are we going?” she asked, as Harry hoped off his bad leg.

“People aren’t supposed to know I’m here. I’ll stay in the Room of Requirements. When I get better, I will go.” Harry replied.

They walked past an empty wall three times, before a door appeared. Ginny slid open the door and they walked inside.

The room wasn’t as big as the last time she was there, in her forth year. It was a regular sized room that had a single folding bed by the wall. It also had a storage closet by the other wall. She led him toward the bed and set him down slowly.

“Look in the closet drawer.” Harry instructed as he laid his head down.

Ginny did as she was told and walked over to it. Inside were muggle medical supplies.

“Is there ice in there?” he asked. As soon as the word left his mouth, an ice pack appeared in front of her. She took it and handed it to Harry.

“Thanks.” He said and placed them over his ribs.

“Are you ok?” she asked.

“Yeah I will be.” He said, looking up to her and giving her a painful smile. She smiled back and sat down at the end of his bed.

“Is there anything you want me to do?”

“Don’t tell anybody.”
