Chapter 16
A Surprising Visit
As Hermione entered her dormitory, thinking about the crazy day she had, she was met by Ginny.
“So...?”
“So... what?” Hermione asked as she flopped down onto her bed.
“What happened?”
“I told Draco what he wanted to know...”
“You decided to avoid the closet incident?” Ginny pushed, following Hermione closely.
“There’s no incident to recollect,” Hermione responded plainly.
Ginny stepped in front of Hermione, who sat on the edge of her bed, and shook her by the shoulders and said, “Malfoy loves you.”
Hermione hit away Ginny’s arms and snapped back, “No he doesn’t.”
“Tell me...” Ginny sat down next to Hermione. “When you two... when you two... snogged,” she whispered the word. “Was it more... forced and demanding, or was it passionate? Was he a great kisser?”
Hermione’s cheeked burned.
“Passionate?”
“Does it matter?” Hermione said sharply, glaring at Ginny.
“He was, wasn’t he?” Ginny asked eagerly. She saw the tiny jerk of the head Hermione gave her. “Then come on, it’s obvious! I never thought I’d live to see the day he...”
The sound of a rock hitting the window cut Ginny off. Curious, Ginny cautiously walked up to the window on the far side of Hermione’s room. She opened it and ducked down quickly as another rock came flying to the window and was shot across the room.
“SHUT UP OUT THERE!”
“Gee, thanks,” a sarcastic voice responded. “I tried knocking, but you two were too caught up in conversation.”
Ginny looked through the window and down towards the grounds. She pulled her head back inside when Draco Malfoy flew upwards and hovered in front of the window on his broom.
“You need to get a new hobby,” Ginny said flatly.
“Yeah, yeah...” Draco replied dismissively as he pushed Ginny out of the way so he could climb inside. He slid his broom underneath the bed next to Hermione’s. He brushed off snow that had fallen from the sky and stuck to him.
“I’m pretty sure we don’t need any more...”
Draco, who had suddenly crouched in front of her, claimed her lips before she could finish. As Hermione’s lips parted in surprise, she deepened the gentle, yet passionate, kiss. Moments later, Draco pulled away and looked into Hermione’s chocolate brown eyes. She looked down and blushed. Draco cupped her chin and brought her head up and got her to look into his eyes.
“Did you feel anything?
Anything?” he asked her softly.
Hermione opened her mouth slightly, but no words came out.
“That looks like a yes from here...” Ginny said from the side of the window.
“I...” Hermione’s voice cracked and left her sentence hanging. “I don’t know...” She then got up, pulling out of Draco’s hold, and left the room, leaving him dumbfounded.
