I found new smileys, can you tell ? Chapter 31: In Memory of the Veil “Well that just about explains it then.” Minerva said after a moment as the sounds of Lily’s sobbing became softer. The rest of the members nodded in silent agreement. Minerva turned around and grabbed something from on the table, which Harry had not noticed before. It was about a foot tall and was draped in a black silky piece of cloth. Harry, along with everyone else, looked at the object curiously. Hermione on the other hand gasped as though she knew what it was. In one dramatic motion, Minerva whisked the cloth off of the object and set it on the table. It was now Harry’s turn to gasp. He stared in stunned silence at the pensieve sitting on the table before them. The members in the room sat in rapt silence waiting for her to speak. “As all of you should know, some more than others, this is a pensieve. We want to show you what happened tonight, in the hopes that you can see something that we perhaps missed.” She spoke as calmly as one would discuss the weather over a cup of tea. Harry sat in furious silence, wondering what she was playing at. Then it hit him. Her plan was genius in its simplicity. Not only would it get rid of the shadow of doubt that he could still see in the eyes of some of the other members, but it would give them an extra set of objective eyes to scrutinize the events. Minerva motioned for everyone to join her and hold hands in a circle surrounding the table. The people moved slowly, as if unwilling to take part. When everyone was finally in place, Minerva slowly lowered her head into the pensieve. Harry felt an interesting sensation of a tickle behind his belly button, similar to that of the portkey, but not nearly as abrupt. With so many people holding hands, the group landed in a pile on the floor in what Harry immediately recognized as the Department of Mysteries. He felt the air knocked out of him as someone landed on his chest. He let out a groan of pain and opened his eyes. “Ginny.” He croaked at the girl who had landed on his chest. She looked down confused for a moment, before jumping up panicked. “Are you alright Harry?” She asked him, as her fingers frantically probed his chest, stomach and face to make sure nothing was broken. “Ginny.” He said again this time stilling her hands in his own. “I’m ok, thanks.” He smiled at her and the eyes locked for a moment. “Good.” She said brusquely as she walked away, not offering to help him up. Harry however, just smiled. He had seen her heart in her eyes for that small moment. He slowly picked himself up, a small smile still on his face. Looking around her realized that they had arrived in the middle of the memory, the door was almost sealed, Sirius had just been pulled free, and they had just pushed the foul creature back inside the veil. Harry shuddered again looking at it’s twisted little face. If anyone thought it was weird that they hadn’t arrived at the beginning, they did not mention it. Remembering the man, Harry looked up to the door, not seeing anyone, he began to climb the stairs, wanting to get a closer look at the man he knew would arrive soon. As he reached the top the door opened silently and a man walked through. Harry could see the man staring at the scene before him. Harry stepped closer so that he was less than a foot away from the man. Suddenly the man took off his mask to get a better look. Harry jumped back, “I saw you die!” He yelled, causing everyone in the room to look up at him. Harry was standing less than a foot away from Peter Pettigrew. As if knowing he had been found out, Peter hastily crammed the mask back on his face. He stood there for a moment longer as the veil imploded. Harry looked back at the group that had been struggling with the veil. “Merlin’s Beard!” The memory of Peter yelled, and Harry looked back down, know realizing what he had exclaimed about. Sirius been blocked from view until that point in time. The group below was looking at Harry questioningly as Harry felt the sensation of being lifted out of the memory. As the all came out of the pensieve, Harry looked at them, a worried expression on his young face, and said, “The new Dark Lord already knows about Sirius”
