Hogwarts RPG Name: Athena Evans (A twin) Third | Chapter 21: Rights of Passage Part A: Monster from the Deep Following the lead of Fawkes, Harry made his way through the castle ending up in the Dungeons. Dumbledore led them to a frame that was conveniently placed on a solid brick wall. “Ready?” he asked Harry. “Yes sir.” Harry said with a look of determination on his face. Immediately knowing what to do, Harry looked around, found a sharp edge on a brick, and sliced his palm open and pressed the blood onto the wall. After a moment of nothing, the four bricks surrounding the portrait began to shine brightly, one at a time. Taking out his wand, Harry tapped each brick in the order that it had lit up. The bricks immediately began to fold away, creating an archway. Silently, he stepped through it, and continued down a narrow, steeply graded corridor. At the end of the corridor there was what appeared to be a large but shallow puddle separating the room. Judging from the ground that he could see through the water, Harry guessed that the water would hardly even get his trainers wet. Fawkes flew across the room, and stood at another wall, a smaller frame on it. As Harry cautiously approached the puddle, a huge tentacle whipped out barely missing him and crashed into the ground beside him. “Looks are deceiving, I guess.” Harry thought to himself shaking his head. Stepping back, Harry began walking along the perimeter of the water, with his arms stretched out in front of him, as though looking for something. After a few feet, he tripped and nearly fell head first into the puddle, but managed to catch his balance and jump back just as the tentacle came smashing down again. He grabbed a hold of the invisible bridge and climbing on, began to make his way across the pond, undisturbed by the creature. When they had safely made their way across, Harry breathed a sigh of relief. He approached the wall, and with a nod from Dumbledore, again put his blood soaked hand to the wall, causing it to open immediately. Just inside the door was another frame. “Good job, Harry!” Dumbledore said as Fawkes perched on his shoulder and cried into Harry’s hand, healing the wound. “I am glad that you took my lead and did not speak, that beast would have done more than just brandish a tentacle at you.” Again Harry set off following Fawkes as Dumbledore led them further and further underneath the castle. |
