sorry, it's a short one :( Chapter 18: A Flying Great Time “That was awesome!” Harry said as he, Ron and the twins burst out of the stadium, screaming for joy. The Chudley Cannons had just beaten the Holyhead Harpies, thus effectively breaking their 105 year losing streak. “This is the best birthday present ever!” Ron squealed in pleasure, causing everyone around him to burst into laughter. “It’s not even your birthday you prat!” Ginny exclaimed shoving him into a garbage can, laughing none the less. “I know!” Ron exclaimed, not carrying that there was an old banana peel hanging off of his ear. His face was red not only from embarrassment and the excitement of the game, but also slightly sun burned. “I am glad the sun is finally out more.” Hermione said laughing as she leaned over to pull the banana peel off of his ear. As her finger tips touched his cheek, he stopped laughing and sucking in a breath, caught Hermione’s wrist in his hand. Staring into her eyes, he leaned forward and his lips met hers. After a moment hesitation she leaned into the kiss, reveling in his embrace, completing unaware of the hooting and catcalls surrounding them. When at last they broke, they each took a step back and bashfully stared at the ground, not knowing what to make of what had just happened. “About time.” George piped up. “We were wondering when you were going to realize” Fred added. “And to think, it all happened because of a rotten banana peel.” Ginny chimed in laughing, they all walked away from the couple. Not knowing what to say, Hermione and Ron stared at each other for a few awkward minutes, and then in complete silent agreement, turned and walked towards the rest of the group; both knowing that the kiss would be discussed later. Silently, Hermione took Ron’s hand. Smiling slightly, he squeezed hers gently. “That had to be the shortest game in the history of Quidditch.” James was saying as Ron and Hermione joined the group. “It was only an hour long.” He said in awe. “Nope, it’s not. Harry won the game for us once in fifteen minutes.” Fred said proudly patting Harry on the back. “It was the Quidditch Cup Game too.” George added boastfully. “What can I say.” Harry said, blushing under the praise, “I had things to do.” As he said this he stared straight at Ginny, who turned crimson under his gaze and walked away. Sighing he turned away as well. “She still not talking to you” Neville asked softly, following quietly behind Harry. “I guess not.” Harry said as he sat down on a bench. He couldn’t count how many times he had apologized to her. “You know, I never thanked you for saving my life.” Neville said softly as he turned and began to walk away. “You didn’t have to, Neville.” Harry said smiling sadly after his friend. Neville turned and returned the smile. |
