And still itchy. Plus it felt a little weird that the professor was so unfazed that there were furry students in class.
When no one spoke up immediately, Chloe raised her hand. It probably wasn't obvious with all the fur plus she was hidden behind the hay bale. "Those are mundane creatures, sir. That is to say, not magical." Okaaaaaaaay! And Brown fur ball was the Head Girl! At least her new hair was shiny and flowy! "Very good, Chloe, the indeed are not magical creatures!" He made his way closer to her and whispered where no one else could hear, "Have you gone to the Healer yet?" Concern etched across his face. Quote:

And Professor Wayland was asking about... hyenas, lions, and moose? Indigo's first thought was that none of those were even magical creatures, which somebody was already pointing out. They were also all pretty different, weren't they? He was also wondering what exactly he was expected to know about them. Because he didn't really know anything besides standard information about them. Was that enough? He raised his hand. "Um, lions live in groups called prides. They also live primarily on savannas." "Very good, Indigo." Tristan said with a nod and a smile. These were exactly the answers he wanted to here. Quote:

Maybe a potion gone wrong or something? She hoped whatever it was wasn't contagious.
The professor's question seemed a bit odd, those creatures being quite different from each other, but she considered it anyway. .... "Well, moose have antlers." Before she even realized what she was doing, she had her very own hand antlers right above her head as if demonstrating to the rest of the class.
Um...yeah...
Just going to lower her hands and clasp them for good measure. Tristan grinned at the antlers that Vita was making with her hands over her head. "Yes, they indeed do. Thank you, Vita." He said trying not to let a chuckle escape before moving on to the next hand in the air. Quote:

Hey... she couldn't be perfect in this subject all the time, and she knew she was going to get things wrong a few times or two, and that was okay. Biting her lip she raised her hand before she itched her arm once again. "I think that I read somewhere that Hyenas are used in Witchcraft in some cultures Professor." she said shrugging. She didn't know if that was true or not, but she must've sworn she read that somewhere. Biting her lip she put her head down taking notes on the subject. "Yes, you could call it witchcraft, folklore, and some cultures even have superstitions about Hyenas. Very good, Stella." Tristan gave her an encouraging smile before turning to the next student with an answer. Quote:

Glancing at the professor and back to older Chloe she just sat there looking confused. Finally, she got up and quietly moved closer to the furball and leaned over, "areyouokay?" and maybe could she touch the fur, it looked soft.
Oh and there was a question that Chloe should probably answer, putting her hand up and waiting. "Lions are meat eaters and are almost the top of the food chain." Humans were top from what she read so lions were not full top, but they were close. "That they are. Very good Chloe." Tristan had noticed that she moved over to the Head Girl!Chloe and was glad that she wouldn't be alone. She seemed pretty unhappy about her furry little problem. Quote:

He'd somehow managed to make it down early. That didn't usually happen. He'd taken to sleeping a lot in between classes these days, and that usually resulted in him getting to each one juuuuust on time. (Not late, though. Never late!) He must be growing or something. Guess it was a good thing, though -- he was getting his rest. Sort of.
He listened as Professor Wayland began class and asked a question that he felt he could answer. He raised his hand and waited to be called on before replying, "Moose are more dangerous than people think. They seem docile and because they sort of look like deer, people assume they're also a bit skittish like deer are. However, they can actually be pretty aggressive. And they're HUGE."
Also, it seemed like the plural should be meese. You know, like goose = geese. But it wasn't. That was irrelevant, though, so he didn't say it out loud. Anyway, he'd never actually seen a moose in person, but he had seen videos of them doing things like destroying Muggles' cars. And they were pretty scary, honestly. "Very good information there, Benji. They can be very aggressive if provoked! So you must be careful if you ever come across one." Tristan nodded giving the boy a wink before moving to the next hand int he air. Quote:

Also, about that. She had gathered that one of the others was Head Girl!Chloe, but who was the other? "Yep," she confirmed her identity. As for the question posed to the class? "Moose live mainly in cold places, like Alaska or Canada or the Northern U.S. unlike lions and hyenas, who live in the warmer grassland areas of Africa." Which made her wonder why they were covering them in the same lesson. They really didn't seem to have much in common....not even a movie. Well, the hyenas and lions did, but the lions were really more the stars of that one. Them and their meerkat and warthog friends...
What were they talking about again? So this fur ball was Archer then! Alright. He knew his students voices better than he thought he did. "Yes! Very good, Archer." He also made his way to her and whispered so no one else could hear, "Have you seen the healer?" Again, not wanting to make a big fuss but acknowledging that this was happening. Quote:

And what was with all the scratching? Was there a flea infestation in the school and should the sixteen year old be worried about it? He really didn’t fancy being bitten. Perhaps it was best that he avoid them all.
Back to the lesson..
Professor Wayland started speaking and he did his best to concentrate on what he was saying rather than giving the weirdos strange looks. He raised his hand to offer an answer to the question considering it was about muggle animals and he knew far more about them than he did about these magical creatures. “A group of lions are called a pride, a group of Hyenas is a clan...” Not a pack despite popular belief. “..And a group of Moose are a herd.” Like cows. Entirely useless information but an answer nevertheless. "Yes, indeed they are! Thank you, Caolan." Tristan said with a small smile to the young man. He couldn't help but notice how far away he was from everyone and wondered if everything was okay. He wondered if it was because of the strange symptoms going around...and couldn't blame him if it was. Quote:

Hyena, Lions, or Moose. What did Hanna know about them? Not a great deal about Hyenas or Moose, but a fair bit about Lions. But rather than give a singular fact about a lion she had another think about what they might have in common. Chloe had pointed out that they were mundane, which was a good thing they had in common. But Hanna couldn't really think of any other fact that they all shared. So, diet it was. Hanna raised her hand and said "Hyenas and Lions are carnivores. Or at least mostly. And Moose are herbivores. And... an animal's diet is something you can generally tell from their jaw structure." Because humans just aren't capable of eating an entire animal quite like a carnivorous mammal. Oh, Hanna was pulling out some very good information there. "Very, good Hanna. Carnivores, herbivores and omnivores all have different jaw structures because of their diets. Thank you for that tidbit." Tristan said with a wink and a grin before moving on to the next hand in the air. Quote:
Originally Posted by MadMadamMalfoy Tina nodded. She certainly couldn't fault Professor Wayland for using magic to make his throne! She'd asked out of curiosity more than anything. She was a tad surprised when he said he wasn't good at art without magic; she was quite the artist herself and couldn't imagine how anyone could not be good at art! Maybe she'd do a painting of a phoenix for him one day.
As she waited for the lesson to start, Tina noticed a few of her classmates were covered in hair, though she couldn't properly identify them. Uhh... was that about? Was it an effect of a spell or potion gone wrong, or was this some sort of prank? She thought back to the attack of the clones in charms class earlier in the term. If there were students willing to masquarade as the Slytherin prefect, she supposed it wasn't too far-fetched that some would be willing to dress up as Cousin Itt. Though if this was a prank, she didn't understand how it was funny.
Tina was so lost in thought that she almost didn't hear Professor Wayland's question. When she did, she was even more confused than ever, though for a different reason. Lions, hyenas, and moose (Oh, my!)... what an odd assortment of creatures! Tina didn't have a clue where this lesson was going... unless there was some magical lion-hyena-moose hybrid she didn't know about! She couldn't think of a single thing they all had in common, other than the fact that they were all mammals, and that seemed too obvious to say out loud. Instead, she decided to focus on only one of them for her answer. She raised her hand and said when called on, "Some hyenas, specifically the spotted hyena, make a noise that sounds like laughing. They typically make this sound when frustrated or in times of conflict." "Yes, very good Tina. Thank you!" Tristan said with a nod and a smile. He was happy to know his students had so much knowledge on non-magical creatures as well as magical. When there were no more hands in the air, Tristan moved back to the center of the semi-circle, for as usual, he had been pacing around listening to their answers. "Very good answers everyone, and I will explain why I asked about those specific creatures in a few moments, but first another request of your knowledge." He grinned.
He quickly pulled out his wand and turned toward the empty field. With a quick flick of his wrist, a whole herd of Leucrotta appeared. He turned back to the class with a grin on his face. "In one word, please describe a Leucrotta." This would be a very difficult task, but one he couldn't wait to hear their responses to. He stood, grinning, waiting to hear their incredible answers. OOC: Alright! Thank you all for being so awesome! You have 24 hours to come up with one word that describes these creatures! Be creative and have fun!
