"Morning, sir," he said, nodding before moving to sit down next to the cardboard box.

“Goooooood morning, Dalton!” he smiled pleasantly as the boy approached. Students were milling over now, and Paul had butterflies. Despite the recent missing students...he would be cheerful. He had spent his time crying and lamenting already. He had faith they would return, he KNEW they would return, but for now...it just….

Sucked.

It was sad. Especially one of their own.

SPOILER!!: Etta

Especially when one of them was a prefect. Please let them be okay.. Please.

She looked quite uninterested as she reached the greenhouses, tucking her hands deep inside the pockets of her jeans. "Professor." The Hufflepuff mumbled as she stood next to one of the portkeys, a beach ball.

He nodded at Etta. “Hello, Etta. Feeling all right?” he asked gently. She herself had gone into the portal...and if SHE had come back...the boys had to come back, too, right?

SPOILER!!: Skylar

Donning jeans and sneakers and a green sweatshirt, she was as ready as she'd ever be. Perusing the four portkeys, Sky did have to wonder if they led to the same place or on the possibility of it being tampered with yes, she'd read in Hogwarts, A History on the Triwizard Tournament of 1994.

Finally, after deliberation, she stood by the pair of enormous broken plastic glasses, as she awaited further instructions. "Morning Professor" she greeted habitually, more than anything.

“Good morning, Skylar!” he smiled and gave a wave. He liked seeing the students in muggle garb. It was such an expression of self!

He definitely had a bounce to his step that slowly deflated when he realized that probably people would not feel the same.

Right. The missing people had families and friends and probably significant others or something. It was time to turn on that sensibility chip his dad often reminded him about. He scratched the back of his head and then palmed it a couple of times, as if trying to find some on (or off) button back there.

"G'morning, Professor Myers." Levi had definitely sobered up by the time he reached the greenhouse. It was--unfortunate. He'd appreciated being in a good mood and forgetting that he was basically supposed to be have grown a new umbilical cord that could be attached to prefects, professors and the head boy and girl when needed.

He sighed, eyes rolling heavenwards and pocketing his gloved hands in his jeans. At least he was out of the limitations the uniform represented, though he couldn't say muggle clothes were his typical attire. But he supposed to old beat up single pair of jeans he owned, the bright blue sneakers and oversized turtle neck sweater would have to do. He went to stand by the old sofa and leaned against it as he waited for the other students. Was he allowed to sit down?

Some of the students seemed to be trying to be okay right now. Levi was one of them. Paul nodded at him pleasantly. “Morning, m’boy!” he smiled. He could certainly sit if he so wanted to! That couch looked like it was getting crowded though...

All the prefects were doing double duty right now, and a she could definitely use a break.

"Hello, Professor!! Can't wait for the field trip!" Paul Myers was one of the best teachers in this school, and she loved him dearly! She walked over to the old sofa, and waited for her boyfriend to arrive.

Paul waved at Juno. “Me neither. I need w----grapes. Man, I really need grapes right now--” HAH. Haha. Ha.

Anyways. He cleared his throat, ignored his red cheeks, and moved on.

She had headed out to the greenhouses in one of the groups heading that direction, dressed in jeans, boots and an oversized sweater, her school bag over her shoulder. Inside it held her lunch, as requested, along with another little field trip participant. She wasn’t about to leave her hedgehog behind to get sucked up by another portal while she was away.

She had a smile on her face as she made her way up to the giant plastic glasses to join the professor and Skylar. “Good morning Professor Myers,” she greeted him. “Morning Skylar.” If they were sharing a portkey, she figured they might as well greet each other. Now they just had to wait for the time of departure.

Paul did not notice the hedgehog. He might, at some point, though, and who knew how the Herbologist would react. Maybe he wouldn’t mind.

“Morning, Elle! How are you today?” he asked cheerfully.

Derf looked up to a lot of students - he was not particularly tall for his age, after all - but Henry was special. He was like...like...a blue lobster!

Dressed appropriately and all that, the first year draaaaaaaaagged his feet and offered the Herbology professor a half wave in greeting.

...and then promptly made his way over to Slate. At least he could be useful here and help his friend out. Unlike with Henry...who he could do NOTHING for...

...although the Hufflepuff was still desperate to try...

"Junk is-s uss-s-sed s-so attention isn't drawn to a portkey by muggles-s," he explained somberly as he sat down on the couch. Wait...Slate probably didn't know what a portkey was. "Portkey is a type of magical trans-sportation. Um um...kind of like...um um" Derf paused to scratch his head and try to THINK of something that it was like...but he was kind of drawing a blank here. "It's like....teleportation. It will take us-s to a certain place."

Paul made his way over to the younger student, about to explain, when Derf did a PERFFFFECT explanation for him! Paul smiled and put a hand on the Hufflepuff’s shoulder. “Yes yes, Derf has it right! Wonderful explanation, Derf! Take two points!”

Ahem.

Paul thought he totally deserved them! He wasn’t overcompensating for a missing Hufflepuff student at ALLLLLL.

He smiled down at Derf. “Welcome, boys!” And he patted Derf’s head affectionately before going to greet a very excited Oliver.

He always liked Herbology, and this lesson seemed like it should be even more exciting than usual.

"Hello Professor." Olly greeted Professor Myers with a grin as he came to stand beside his portkey. He was dressed in muggle clothes, like they had been instructed, with his bag containing his packed lunch slung over his shoulder. "I didn't know you owned a vineyard. That's cool. Is your husband going to be there?" Olly couldn't remember his name at the moment. Something with an M maybe? Martin? He felt bad that he couldn't remember but names were hard.

Hi, Olly! And my water slide party was there over the summer! Not near the vineyard, though, so I don’t blame you for not knowing,” he grinned. “Milton is home, yes, but probably won’t join us until we eat lunch.” Milton was very protective of the vineyard, and he felt the man would just be too paranoid during this whole trip.

She joined her dormmate at the beach ball. "Hey," she offered Etta a small smile. And, "Hey, Professor."

He just hoped Carlton has enough sense to not want to help it anymore! Not to mention the recent curfew had been driving him nuts and it made him sad as he watched his half sister pace anxiously in the Ravenclaw common room or leave to hide in her bed..

Ravenclaw hadn't been to kind to her lately..

The older boy arrived wearing normal clothes, slightly ragged jeans, an old t-shirt, a long sleeve shirt and a windbreaker.. and he had a bag full of food! Courtesy of Az's cousin!

He smiled as he moved over to Juno and nudged her shoulder.. "Hey Quicksilver. " He said with a warm smile.

AHEMMM!

“HELLO TO YOU, TOO, LEON!”

Ravenclaws. In their own heads too much, they were. Paul knew how it was.

She opted for the sofa, since it provided a place to sit while she waited. Katy spread out her jacket on the sofa to keep from picking up any undesired lint, and then she perched on the arm and waited. Going somewhere awesome, she hoped, or at least somewhere with a rare ingredient to snag.

He waved back at Miss Toussaint. He was glad she was coming on the field trip! He was glad so MANY of them were coming, honestly. It would be such a nice break from the castle...from the gloom and doom of the castle.

Still, she would try to focus - if only to set a good example for the younger students. That morning she wore a typical black turtleneck suite and dark blue jeans. No makeup. She'd start wearing makeup when the boys were rescued.

"Morning Professor Myers," she said, and though she tried to sound normal, her slouched position and dull eyed look gave away how upset she was.

Kitty Valentine, oh dear. Paul knew just from looking at her that she was upset. Of course she was upset, Rooney Bronwyn was missing! He put a hand on her shoulder and squeezed. “Hello, Kitty,” he said gently. “Have hope…”

Cool stuff, Professor.

The beach ball kind of reminded Brent of where he used to live in Malibu, California, so he chose it. Thank goodness it was half-deflated. It'd be kind of hard to hang on if it was a full, inflated ball. "Hello, Professor," he said, catching site of the man over by a pair of glasses.

“Hello, Brent!” he smiled. He had messed with Brent way before the Christmas holidays in a lesson, but he really did like the boy. Brent seemed like a nice young man.

"Goodmorning Professor Myers!" he greeted the Herbologist with an even brighter smile that would rival a Tuscan sun. He spotted the couch-- seems to be a popular choice with all the students milling about it-- and flopped comfortably on the vacant space. This floppy tub aint goin' nowhere until 10:15 that much he knew. So he grabbed some chips out of his picnic basket and started offering it around "Chips anybody? Freshly baked!"

“Yes, hello, Tenacius, I would like a chip?” and he offered his hand for the prefect to place as many chips as he wanted to give the professor into his hand.

His stomach was already rumbling >.> It was HOURS from lunch?!

The inclusion of Muggles clothes and a packed lunch on the material necessary for the class only spiked her curiosity and so the Slytherin made her way to the greenhouses.

There were lots of people here already, all divided between what she assumed were the portkeys. Right. Well, that seemed like an obvious choice.

"Morning, Professor!" She greeted politely as she approached the giant glasses the man was holding and took her place next to Skylar. This was just another example of how sneaky Slytherins were, clearly. Shooting a quick glance at Professor Myers, just to make sure he wasn't looking at them, the fifth year leaned closer to her housemate. "It's probably best to stick with him, right?"At least if something happened, the Professor was right there.

“Goooood morning, Daisy!” he grinned at the two Slytherins standing next to him. “If you could hold these-” and he passed them off to Daisy. Because he wanted to make his rounds.

The only good thing that had come out of this so far was getting out of Hogwarts. The entire place was starting to feel stuffy and crowded, even the Grounds felt suffocating to her, so for once in her life she welcomed the cold bite of the early morning air.

With her bag slung over a shoulder, Mase made her way to where Myers had set everything up, still slightly annoyed over the school's impartialness over the entire situation. She nodded her head towards the excited-looking Professor, "Morning." Ugh, why the hell was everyone crowding around that gross-looking sofa?

Crinkling her nose at the thought of trying to squish in there, Mason opted out of even attempting that and made her way to the less-buzzard-flacked beach ball. Tucking her hands into her leather jacket, Mason stood next one of the girls (Etta) there, "Can you believe we're going on a field trip while Henry-them are missing?" she asked, rolling her eyes as she kicked at the damp-earth. Ugh.

“Good morning, Mason!” he said with a smile. More students were coming, and time was ticking by! They’d be ready to leave shortly, no?

He stood on his tip toes to try and see if his bro was anywhere in the crowd that had gathered - with this stupid curfew, he hadn't seen him in what felt like AGESSSSS.

Myers was EXCITED, as he always was, and he grinned and waved at his head of house. He was SO COOL, yo. "Hey Professor!" he said happily as he took a position by the beach ball. He waited patiently, hoping to wave Brent over if he came in so they could stick together during this.

“Heeeeeey Kane!” he waved and grinned at the Hufflepuff boy. “Excited for the field trip, then?” because he certainly seemed so!

She walked up and stood by Olly as she waited for class to begin. "Morning Professor" She said giving him a smile.

Most of the students were really very polite. Paul appreciated it. “Good morning, Noelle!” Quite a few prefects were present, which was good, but it did make his heart hurt for little Rooney. Who wasn’t little anymore, but still.

"Morning Professor" he greeted with a nod of his head and then turned around to look at the object the man was holding. A giant pair of plastic glasses. Looked like it was broken.

The Ravenclaw then jumped a little in shock when the Professor suddenly shouted over the students to grab a portkey. Mason looked at the other two before deciding he was going with the glasses. IF something happened, their group would have a professor nearby.

So without leaving his spot, he turned back around to face the pair of glasses.

He grinned at the Ravenclaw boy. “Yes, good morning to you, too!” he said, and he went back to stand with his glasses portkey people.

No way she was being left behind. Sure enough, she was safe and everyone was still milling around. The portkeys sooooo out of place there was no missing them as students had gathered around them. “Good morning, Professor,” the Ravenclaw greeted the man as she came into the group. After a minute or so of deliberation, Cass opted to move towards the sofa.

As good a portkey as any other.

Paul smiled over at Cassie. Time was a-ticking! They needed to hurry! He thought he could see Natalia making her over, too! COME ON! “Hello hello! Pick a portkey, quickl!”

Hopefully someone would find the three boys soon, and they would be alight.

Muggle clothes on? Cheek. Lunch? Yep. She was ready to go. "Hello Professor Myers. Are you sure there isn't another way " She said with her kind smile as she walked by him. Now to pick a porkey. Fun. Did she mention that already? Seeing Katy she headed over to the sofa and flopped down on the opposite arm of the sofa that her Katy best friend was. Hi Katy. Taking the same porkey with Katy made her feel a little bit better.

YES YES WELCOME KAT--HELLO YES--PORTKEY--AHEM IT WAS TIME.

“ALL RIGHT EVERYONE! Our portkeys will be leaving soon. So prefects spread out, I’d like at least one of you at each of the three portkeys!” The sofa, the cardboard box, and the beach ball. “EVERYONE put one of you hands on a portkey! They will be pulling us away in…” he glanced at his watch. “THREEEEEEE….”

“TWO…..”

“ONE!!!!!!!”

And the portkeys jerked them all away to Tuscany, Italy, where the sun hit them with such ferocity...anyone wearing long sleeves would regret their decision. Paul dropped the glasses and peered around. Had everyone made it okay? It seemed so!

The portkeys had dropped them near the end of the pathway that winded up towards Professor Myers’ estate. They could admire it from here, but no, they would not be going NEAR his home today, students. “Follow me, everyone! Leave your portkeys here. There is a basket nearby--drop your lunches in before we go!” he smiled and began walking towards the middle of the vineyard. Rows and rows of grape vines made a grid shape, so Paul could easily lead the class down through an ‘aisle' between two rows of vines. Among the vines were many gridlines of pipes and tubing [PIC?] The basket the kiddos were dropping their lunches into was charmed to keep whatever they had packed fresh.

The Herbology professor pushed his wand against his throat, so when he began talking, his voice BOOOOMED around them. Sonorous was quite handy.

“Now, as you can all see--” Because they could all use their EYES-- “I have pipes and tubing mingled in with all my vines. This is because Milton and I use something called DRIP IRRIGATION in our vineyard. I will explain briefly what that is in a second once we all have our bearings!” He smiled and waited for the slower ones in the pack to catch up.

They had no time to waste!

“Drip irrigation is watering your crops in a very patterned way, and it makes the water get right to the root rather than the soil stealing some of the nutrients. So it uses water more effectively; there is less waste this way!” he smiled. “Evaporation and runoff are less likely, so we are wasting less water.” That was the quick and easy definition of drip irrigation, but he didn’t need to bore them! This was a FIELD TRIP!

“Now, I really don’t want to replace our tubing and pipes. But our drip irrigation has been...not working that well lately! That would be such a waste! But I can’t very well fix it all on my own! SOOOO….we’re going to learn a little spell. It’s a wee bit of a mouthful...Diminuendo Cavum Punctum. Going off of that spell...what will we be DOING to the pipes and tubing, eh? What is wrong with them?

THINK STUDENTS. THINK.

OOC: Class has officially begun! People cannot arrive late because we have portkey'd away! But if you want to participate, and you haven't posted yet, you're welcome to a KETCHUP POST! (catch-up hehe) so do what you will! We will be moving on in t-24 HOURS or so.
