So it was him and three girls, and if he wanted any sort of reputation as a guy that wasn't a wimp, he should probably go in first. Or at least not last. With his eyes on the fire seeds and his hand gripping his bucket tightly, he went in. He leaned down by the nearest bush and observed the firey insides. Duuuuuude. Was this going to hurt? Brent was also hyper aware of the fact that his face was probably red, and if he spoke, his voice would probably crack.
The only thing he might would think the professor would be so mad about was that last comment to Skylar. NOOOOOOO. Brent did not want to apologize about that! Skylar would literally never shut up about it, and she'd have won their back and forth banter! So Brent's best course of action was to EXPLAIN. "Oh, I didn't mean anything bad by that, Professor. When Skylar first met me, she said she was sarcastic, and since then, we've had this back and forth banter," he said. IF I APOLOGIZE NOW, SHE WINS! "I seriously didn't mean to say anything bad about a girl." PLEASE DON'T RUIN POSSIBLE DATES FOR ME FOR THE REST OF MY TEEN YEARS!

Skylar had been busy focused on trying to pluck fire seeds from the bushes without putting it out that all of what happened next was just something she was only haphazardly listening to. Ignorant and sexist remark? Well Brent DID just lump her in with all girls liking to shriek over things that go bump, but she also knew, as he explained instead of apologizing, that he was joking with her because that's what they did best.
And Sky in typical Sky fashion, said simply, "I think you'll find that I'm not like all girls, Mr Westwood." and that was all she was going to say about that. And yes she did just use his surname, but so had the professor and he gave a haphazard apology so she could do what she wanted.
In the meantime, she had a project to finish up.
Finally, after what seemed like forever, she successfully plucked two fire seeds and had them still lit in her heated bucket. She would have tried a third but she was running short on time, so time to move on and dig the small hole. Carefully she scooped a handful of soil and placed it gently into the bucket with seed. She then slowly tilted the bucket upside down to allow the contents to slide into the hole.
Using her now empty bucket she used the aquamenti spell to add water and boiled it using chaudensis, forgetting about just the wrist and her forearm moved too.... some hot water splashed up and out from the force and onto her wand forearm. But instead of shrieking, she gritted her teeth together, figuring she now had a legit excuse to go to the hospital wing (other than to get a closer look at the young male healer who'd taken up residence because she had taken notice of him)
Figuring that since the water was hot enough to burn her skin slightly, she figured it was legit hot enough for the seed too and she poured the water onto the planted seed.
And she was done !! Time to follow her peers out of the forest....
