A new pet wouldn't be complete without an introduction to Jaemin's special plant patch in the greenhouses. And it took a day, yes, but Jaemin managed to find the time to make his way down there with Gom in tow. The bear rock had slept on his nightstand, as he had when he was just a regular rock, but Jaemin had been very careful to remember to take the new pet with him when he left the dorm for the day. Now, with classes over for the day, it was time for another adventure and another entry in his little journal thingie.
Nudging the door open with his foot, Jaemin peeked into the greenhouse and cast his gaze around to see if anyone was in there already. Not that it would deter him from staying... just he liked to know who was here, and he wasn't sure Gom really felt social today. Or any day.
Gom was a rock with pipe cleaner ears.
He couldn't hear or see anybody, and so Jaemin slipped inside, letting the door close behind him. Humming happily to himself, he headed straight for the back of the greenhouse, to where his special patch had been planted and had stayed; the special terrarium they were inside of, to keep them safe, was right where it always was, and Jaemin very gently set Gom down right in the middle of it so he could see everything with his big googly eyes.
"This is my plant patch," he explained, carefully running his finger over a few of the small specimens. "Dad made it for me last year. It stays here, but I take care of it when I'm at school."
He wasn't sure if he should take it home this term or not. There was a flicker of worry on his face for just a moment, a vague fear of the unknown, but it passed quickly and he got to work tending to his plants, with Gom watching. The boy pointed out some specific plants as he worked, naming them for the rock and explaining what they did as he went about pulling up weedy bits and trimming off any browning leaves or stems. Most of the plants were okay from the last time he had done all of it, but there were a few that had gone off a bit in the intervening two days...
"These are very special plants," he murmured, tucking a small sprig of dried out fluxweed between Gom's ears. "You can come help me take care of them some more next year, if I'm back. Okay?"
Otherwise... he'd have to ask Paige and Tim if they would take care of them for him. Or Myers, but the man already had a lot on his plate what with having so many greenhouses full of plants... Jaemin hummed to himself some more, absently setting a few more plants on top of Gom before remembering that the rock was not a rock... it was his pet. Carefully he swept them away, mumbling a quiet 'sorry' before wrapping up what he was doing and scooping Gom up.
He needed a nap. |
