But they have been changed out and replaced by modern technologies multiple times sense then." Did we mention Juno loved Paris? Because she really loved Paris.

She was in fact wishing at this very moment she could be there already. *le sigh*

Kay made a beeline straight for her whiteboard, once again uncapping her marker. “Quite right you are, Ms Darcy.’’ Juno? Or was it Esme? Shhh. No one needed to know that she was still uncertain which twin was which when they attended classes. "The restaurants are located on the first and second floors.’’ Maker to board, she wrote the words “FACTS ABOUT THE TOWER’’ and below that, she started making bulletined notes of her students answers.

That seemed like a whole lot of work.. But.. It was worth it.

‘’Indeed it was, Ms Kennedy! When it opened in 1889, the Eiffel Tower sported a reddish-brown color and then roughly a decade later, it was painted in yellow. Other colours that were used were yellow-brown and chestnut brown. Approximately every seven years, sixty tons of paint are applied to keep the Tower looking fresh.’’

Janelle raised her hand, to share what she knew about the landmark. "You can go up in the Eiffel Tower by stairs or by elevator. But you'd better be fit if you want to climb the stairs. There are over 300 hundred steps to get to the first level and then just as many to get to the second level. After that, you have to take an elevator to the top level." Janelle knew this because she had had the grand plan to walk up all of the steps once. Although she considered herself in good shape, she had abandoned her plan after making to to the first level of the tower............because six hundred plus steps........no.

Kay bobbed her head. “Very true. That’s quite work out one would have, isn’t it?’’ Who needed a morning run when one there were those stairs, anyway. “There are indeed lifts in the tower but before there were, it was home to only stairs. Approximately 1,710 of them.’’

How others not only knew this landmark, but the builders and engineers (what did one of those even do?) she didn't know.

Having found a picture of the real thing in her textbook though, she could guess it one fact about it. "Is it the tallest fing in the city, Professeh?" No, she didn't have specifics about it's height or anything, but it was the best she could offer until she caught up on some reading.

"The weather can change the height of the tower. If it's really sunny, the tower can grow about 6 inches. Which is really cool"

“Yes, it is, Ms Tyler. At the time it was constructed, it was also the tallest building in the world. It stands at 300 meters or 980 feet. Ms Paton is also correct. The height varies by 6 inches or about 15 cm due to temperature changes. Very cool.’’ She winked at Harriet.

She raised her hand. "Well, there are lights that they shine on it to make it different colors, like the colors of the French flag on Bastille Day and stuff, if they wanted to do that," she explained. That was about the extent of her knowledge on the Eiffel Tower.

“That is also correct! In addition to the shining of different colours, it was also used as a method of advertisement. For example, once the French automobile company Citroën advertised their company’s name on it. Nearly a quarter of a million coloured bulbs were attached and it cast such a brilliant glow that the advertisement was visible from about 20 miles away.’’

SPOILER!!: Brady!<3

He had so much going on with drama in his life right now that he now had a hard time focusing on all his classes. A fun fact about the tower? He didn't know anything about it other than muggles always going there for some reason.

The second year shook his head and raised his hand. "What do you mean about a fun fact?" The Scottish boy asked. "It's a tower that was built over two hundred years ago. It doesn't seem very fun." Just historical. "How can a tower even be fun?" The view must be nice but what was fun about it? He didn't understand the question at all.

Oh dear. Brady finally spoke and from his words, it was quite clear the Hufflepuff was somewhat in a bad mood. “What I mean is I want you to give the class a fact, if you know any, of something you find interesting about the Tower.’’ His classmates had grasped the nature of her question, yes? “That’s quite true. It was built over 200 years ago,’’ See? You got it, Brady, even though it was something they had mentioned at the start of the class.

SPOILER!!: Esme! <3

Okay, that would probably get boring but Esme LOVED LOVED LOVED the city. Just as much as her twin sister did! Already she was imagining all the fun they would get up to during their next visit to France which would be in a few months. Time needed to go by faster!

Raising her hand, she said, "it was originally built as the entrance arch to the World Fair. I think it was for 1889." History was not her strong suit by any means so there was the very real possibility that Esme was a little off with this fact.

It was clear to see that both Darcys liked the talk of Paris. Kay could see the excitement on their faces. When she had picked the topic, she hadn’t the faintest idea just how many students would have enjoyed it. “Quite right, Ms Darcy! The year 1889 would be correct.’’

As far as fun facts about the tower, there was one that came almost immediately to the forefront of Skylar's mind and it was strange cause it wasn't like she wanted this to happen for years into the future, but since the fun fact on her mind hadn't been mentioned yet - lots of talk about lights, though - Skylar's hand shot into the air. "The Eiffel Tower is an immensely popular proposal spot!" There was a reason why it was called the city of love. Oh how she'd love to be proposed to there ... Years into the future of course

Proposals! Kay was waiting for someone to come up with that, a reminder that Paris was considered a romantic city. “That’s true. It is estimated that 6.8 million people visit each year so I do suspect there would be lots of proposals.’’ Was it possible that young Skylar was dreaming of being proposed to in Paris?

"The Eiffel Tower was constructed with 2,500,000 rivets and 7,300 tonnes of iron." That was a lot of rivets and iron. Amazing how all the bits had been put together to make something so tall. She also knew how many teeth cats have, the three main Greek architectural orders, which elements were liquid at room temperature, and many other facts on various subjects if anyone was interested in knowing. Learning new things was exciting.

“Indeed, Ms Wright! The iron consisted of 18,038 pieces and about 300 workers were used to put everything together.’’ Wasn’t it simply interesting just over so much had been put into the Tower’s construction?

But she was interested and listening to the facts people were throwing around. Wow. The Eiffell Tower was.... Kinda boring... To be honest! Only being honest. Good thing she didn't state that outloud.

But now time for her interesting fact.

"The Eiffell Tower only lights up in a variety of lights once a night for a short period of time. People try and get pictures of it when that happens because it's so beautiful." The only reason she knew that was because her mom had told her.

Kay nodded, a smile on her face. Her students were on a roll today again. “True, Ms Summers. There are 20,000 bulbs, 5, 000 per side. What you are speaking of occurs every five minutes every hour on the hour when the Tower is lit. It is usually lit up to 1 AM.’’

SPOILER!!: Fiyero! <3

So now they were supposed to name a fact about the Eiffel Tower, but he couldn't think of any. He scratched his head, hoping something would come to him. He was about to give up when he suddenly remembered something his grandmother once told him and raised his hand. "A fire broke out in the Eiffel tower in..." What year did she say that was again? Sometime in the 1950s... "1956. It damaged the top of the tower, and the repairs took a year."

“Yes, a fire did damage the top of the tower. It broke out in the television broadcast room. After the year-long repairs, a new platform as well as live transmission equipment were installed. Did you also know that the top was damaged again but by lightning in 1902?’’

* * * * * * *

“Now for the fun part of today’s lesson!’’ Kay set down her marker to go back to her desk. From under it came four medium sized coolers. “I haven’t planned any kind of activity for today but rather I thought I would give you all a treat. I have here, the ingredients for a French dessert called Chocolate Liégeois. It is a version of another dessert called Café liégeois which is made it coffee flavoured ice cream. Chocolate Liégeois, as the name suggests, is made from chocolate ice cream.’’ She beamed at the class. She had spent a good while researching on a dessert she thought the students would like. Kay knew that many of the Hogwartians favoured chocolate related things. “Not to worry. If you’re not fond of sugar, I have sugar free ice cream.’’ She pointed at the coolers. One the front of each were either labeled “Regular Chocolate Ice cream”, “Regular Vanilla ice cream”, “Sugar free Chocolate Ice cream” or “Sugar free Vanilla ice cream’’.

“Now, this is a simple enough ingredient to make. It requires two scoops of chocolate ice cream and one scoop of vanilla ice cream. Like so.’’ She grabbed one of the cups that she had secured as a serving dish to add one scoop of chocolate ice cream to it. Next, a scoop of vanilla ice cream was added and then topped by another scoop of chocolate ice cream. “To top it off, or garnish it, we add some Chantilly cream which is also called whipped cream. I also have some dark chocolate shavings as an extra topping.’’ When Kay was finished preparing her Liégeois, she held it up for the class to see.

“Come on up! I’ve got enough ingredients for you all to make at least one serving for yourselves.’’ Just let her get this model of the Tower out of the way so that she could add containers containing cups, spoons, scoopers, the dark chocolate and whipped cream next to the coolers.

OOC: HIIIIIII! *sprinkles love on you all because yal make me happy* This is the final bit of the lesson so go forth and have fun making that dessert! There is no amount of posts needed for this; just enjoy yourselves! Feel free to mix the ice cream in ANY combination if you want. NO FOOD FIGHTS! Or in this case, ice cream fights The thread will be opened until Saturday July 23rd, 11:00 PM EST. If you need us, just put 'Professor' in the header bar!

PS: I thank each and every one of you for making this term a success for me! It has been mine & Kay’s pleasure RPing with and teaching you and your charries’
