Nana’s mother is a cheerful, down to earth woman who did everything in her power to send Nana to good schools and instill in her young and only daughter all the values she and her late husband had shared. Though not a very astute woman, Keiko could see Nana’s natural talent and curiosity into all branches of magic but especially Transfiguration and encouraged her to pursue the interest. Nana and Keiko share a very affectionate, very close relationship that has only grown warmer since Nana has set about on her personal journey.

Consideration is one of her favorite words and is something she employs in every aspect of her life. For Nana, thinking things out is very important. Hardworking, clever and down to earth, Nana loves to challenge herself and push her abilities to their limits, always seeking a higher sense of learning and sense of self. Has a firm belief that with determination and hard work anything can be achieved. Can be very warm and affectionate when around people she considers her friends and family. Though friendly, Nana prefers to keep personal and professional lines separate. Though not a liar, Nana believes that little white lies are necessary to protect others and will at times without truths to teach lessons. Do not take her kindness for weakness, Nana Ichihara is no one’s fool and will not take kindly to bribes, taunts, laziness or any manner of disrespect in her class. Stubborn, Nana sometimes refuses to see things even as clear as the nose on her face and will trust her own instincts in a pinch over anyone else’s.

Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan to a decidedly middle class family, Nana Ichihara grew up happily; loved and cared for by parents that doted on her, but never spoiled her, and with the city of Tokyo practically another parent to the little girl. From its’ lively streets, Nana learned how to speak for herself, hold her head up in the face of anything and how to handle all of life’s messups and misadventures, it was also where she learned about fashion, her other great love aside from Transfiguration.

Sadly, when Nana was 10, her father drowned to death while the family was vacationing. Nana has never gotten over the lost of her father in such a dramatic manner, but rather then let the pain weigh her down, she lives her days to the best in his honor.

Time passed and though quiet, Nana soon proved herself quite adept at spellwork and the teachers, impressed by her talent encouraged her to further her study, offering her advanced courses during the summer months when her mother was too busy with the restaurant to watch the girl. After graduating from Himitsumahou, Nana was hungry for further knowledge and thirsted to test her own limits. She traveled, she read, she worked and learned and pushed her boundaries, and comfort levels, she even took on the daunting task of learning English on her own. It was not until some time after all this that miss Ichihara took on the task of becoming an Animagus, a dream she had held since childhood.

Alas, though the young woman completed her training and achieved the transformation, she was cursed blessed with a rather useless animagus form that she is actually a fair bit embarrassed of.

Recently Miss Ichihara has, with the blessing of her former boss and Mentor Preston Kingsley, taken on the post of Transfiguration Professor at the illustrious Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
