Professor Flamsteed could never see that. NOPE. And he was sure Culloden wouldn't be too pleased to see Sophie's impersonation either.

But anyways, it was time for the next question. And luckily Zander knew what he'd talk about: the impending fear of graduation and not knowing where to go in the future. But first it was Sophie Brown's turn so he gave her all of his attention. Undivided and everything. And Merlin, did she have a lot to say. And it was all pretty heavy. He didn't even realize how watery her eyes were getting until the end, where his grin from before had been replaced with a new look of ultimate concern.

What? Was she... okay?

Clearly not, so he didn't try to voice the stupidity. Instead, when she handed him the card.... He took one look down at it, and then impulsively ripped it in half. Errrrr... Maybe there was a better more thought out way to handle the situation. But Zander didn't have time for thinking. Sophie wasn't okay. And that wasn't okay. "Sophie, is that really what you're scared of? That you'll disappoint people?" he didn't give her much time to answer, however, because he needed to elaborate. "'Cause I guess I can't really speak for anyone else... But you won't ever disappoint me." He gave her arm a light squeeze.

"Let's just forget the assignment, okay? I think Botros will understand," Or well, he hoped the old man would understand... But seeing as the notecard was now split straight down the middle, it was sort of too late to turn back. "Being perfect all of the time is ridiculous, Soph. No one's perfect all the time and you're allowed to make mistakes too, y'know?" Actually, did she know? Probably not. "No one's gonna think any different of you if you skip a class, or land yourself a detention." He wasn't sure how much he was helping here, but um, he had already started so he had to finish somewhere. "Y'know, when I messed up really big in Fifth Year, I thought people would hate me and that I ruined everything for myself... But all I had to do was pick myself up again and start over, trying again. I guess what I mean is if we make mistakes, it's okay it happens. But the real mistake is not getting back up and trying again. 'Cause the only reason people would be disappointed is if you let yourself give up."

He had been looking at her the whole time. Taking a moment to pause before continuing. "But no one can expect you to be perfect every second of every day, that's too much pressure for a person to live with... And I'm sorry you've got so much pressure on you, Soph." He wrinkled his forehead a little, reaching for her hand. Merlin. What an assignment, right?

He TORE THEIR CARD UP. HOW WAS SHE SUPPOSED TO GET A GOOD GRADE NOW. HE HAD JUST SOLIDIFIED HER FAILURE.

Her eyes met his, the tears pooling even more now, and she wanted to put her hand over his mouth and ask him to stop talking because they were supposed to be doing this assignment and returning to Botros, but... she supposed it didn't matter now. They'd already failed, though surely she could repair the card... but what if she couldn't? What if him ripping it up had broken the enchantment on it, and they couldn't continue now?

Quiet and feeling very, very small during Zander's entire spiel, Soph kept her gaze away from his, sadness clear in every etching of her face. Once he was finally finished, she simply shrugged. "Y'don't understand - they WOULD be disappointed. People just EXPECT me to be the best. It'd be like... an imbalance in the universe if I messed up, y'know?" Another shrug.

"I still think you should share YOUR fear." Because she didn't want to talk about this here. No. If they had to return to class, she was NOT going to have traces of crying, Zander Adair. Don't make her bawl, please.
