Background: Kyle grew up in a tight knit family, she recently found out through her cousin Katra that her mother Aurelie Devereaux had feigned her death in order to be more "effective" in a mission as Auror - her mother's ability as being a Metamorphamagus, an ability that skipped Kyle, helped with this as she was able to make her eyes themself look frosted over and blank. Kyle, upon learning this wasn't oh-so-cheery and this might cary through for some of the term.

Kyle transfered to Hogwarts from Beauxbaton right before the start of her Sixth Year, however being new, and shy, she didn't exactly start trying to be "active" in the school until she felt safe - and that was half way through her sixth year.
