Spell of the Week
How to Create Beautiful Music with Just Your Wand by Sophie Brown
This week's spell is useful in a variety of situations, from friendly dueling scenarios to school dances, or even to keep things from getting too awkward in the loo!
The Music-Creating Charm is used to create background music in a room, and the incantation "Creo Musica" comes from the Latin words for "Create Music." To perform this charm, it isn't necessary to be holding one's wand - it simply needs to be in the caster's possession, and the caster must think very clearly of the song desired to fill the room while speaking the incantation.
The appeal of this spell is easy to see, as its entertainment possibilities are endless. Simply choose battle music to cast as background music during a duel to set the mood or fill the all-too-silent bathroom with lounge music when you're not the only one taking care of business and need to defuse the tension.
Anyone in the general vicinity can change the song playing by concentrating on a new song and casting "Novo Musica," which means "New Music," and a casting of "Musica Exitus," which translates to "End the Music," will cause the music to cease. Of course, when the spell is left alone, the song will continue to play in a continuous loop until someone casts the spell to change the music, so you'll need to be aware of this before you leave the room!
Try out this spell the next time you have an unfortunately-timed need for the loo - you and all parties involved will be grateful you did!
