When they were set to work, Toby went ahead and picked up an apple (normal horses liked apples normally, right? seemed like the logical choice even if it wouldn't be as much of a challenge as, say, a lemon) to try casting the spell on, and got his wand out ready. He didn't try it straight away, though, but tilted his head thoughtfully at the apple as he tossed it in the air and caught it a few times. Thinking, thinking.

Eventually, Toby glanced over at Professor Thompson and half-raised his hand to get the man's attention.

"Professor Thompson," he started, now casually twirling his wand between his fingers as he had a tendency to do. "So, these Porlocks, they're distrustful of humans, right? But is it that their level of distrust isn't quite high enough that they'll refuse food offered? Or does their need to protect the Winged Horses from having this sweet stuff sort of overpower that? The need to protect and guard overpowers their own discomfort, like."

Because if it was that, then Toby could definitely relate.

"I only ask 'cause there's creatures like Knarls who are super suspicious, which means they don't trust people, and if you offer them milk or something they freeeeeak out." SORT OF LIKE how Toby might react to being offered ice cream. Sort of. "So I wondered how they're different with this." Since, Y'KNOW, all creatures were diverse and amazing and awesome.

Toby twirled his wand again, and looked back at the apple. So. This spell then. Best get to it.

As Professor Thompson observed the students he eventually got a question. He then listened fully understanding the meaning of this question, as he nodded. "As a guardian, they take their role quite seriously. Despite their lack of trust, Porlocks have no trouble putting aside their own fears for the safety of whom they are protecting. It's around the same level of care that a decent parent would exert for their own child." It was indeed a great question.

OOC: Keep at it everyone, you're doing fine. You have about 8-9 hours left from this post before we move on.
