And power was definitely something you would need if you worked in law enforcement. "Yes, it brings power but power can be obtained via easier ways than runic magic. I personally can't see an officer bothering with runes just to boost his power." He smiled at the girl. Botros so would use runes for that. Quote:

Defensive forces and discipline and clearing out bad situations. Seems like it'd fit."
Aaaaand Tobias was going to stop there. He could have kept giving lots of runes, with all sorts of arguments for using them, but didn't want to keep talking too long. Aha! Botros clapped twice to indicate how important this was. "Yeees, yes, very good. Algiz is definitely a part of the runes used for tracking and capturing. It is used for the protection after the hunt." He beamed at his apprentice. Quote:

"I think Sowilo could be one, Professor,'' the fourth year Puffer said after some moments and raising his hand. That rune had something to do with success, right? The MLE people would want success at finding the bad guys. Sowilo? Hmmm. "Maybe, if you explain why you think so." He smiled at the Hufflepuff. Quote:

Maybe we should make them pendants with Wunjo carved on it to keep it at their offices." He was 100% serious, Ab loved the idea. Quote:

Maybe. Aaah. "Teiwaz would be another inspirational rune for the MLE department, yes. I wouldn't say they use it in their practical activities, though." But Botros was thinking they could add it to the Wunjo pendant Lux had come up with. Oh he loved his students' minds. Quote:

Hand raised, "I'd say Ansuz." Wait, she had her reasons, of course. "For wise decisions, and justice." Wise. Yes, her best friend needed wisdom. But seriously, mind and body balance? That also seemed like a perfect fit for MLE. Oh! Another bingo! Botros clapped twice once again, urging the class to pay attention to this one. "Ansuz is one of the essential runes used in tracking! It's not just about wisdom, it is about communication and signal-tracking." It might have been a lucky shot by Wisteria but he beamed at her all the same. Quote:

When we're making Runic charms, Uruz can almost always be added to strengthen the bonds or the magic of the runes." He smiled at the Hufflepuff kid for guessing right, too. Quote:

She was sure they'd have liked to remove them, it was kinda like their job afterall. "That's a great theory, yes. Hagalaz would be great for interrupting a disturbance. Maybe form a protective ward that repels ill-willed magic. It'd require great care, though." He scratched his chin thoughtfully, his eyes showing how exciting this was to him. Quote:

It means… giant, and if someone is trying to track someone, they can put a Thurisaz rune on them to make them giant, then the magical law enforcers would easily know where they would be. Because they'd be giant." Ohhh dear Odin. Those students were brilliant. Botros chuckled, and knowing that Thurisaz didn't work that way, he didn't have the heart to crush the girl's fantasy. "That sounds a great plan, dear. Though using a rune for that purpose would be impossibly difficult. And pointless." It wasn't easy to invoke a rune and get it to be magical, after all. Quote:

HELP them with their cases and like, TEACH them about the Rune stuff! He could show them how to traaaaccckkkkk!!!!
From the little he knew about Runes, all he could do was flip through the text book and hope to be useful... of course, everyone else seemed to beat him to it. But he DID find SOMETHING, that MIGHT be useful...
Hand raised, and still more bouncing in his seat, "What about Laguz? It says it's good for uncovering hidden things? Maybe the baddies have hidden magic or like how they try to cover their tracks... so Laguz might be good for uncovering them, right?" Please say he was right and that he could be EPIC and write home and tell EVERYONE about his awesomeness. Zeke was completely okay with bragging about this. COMPLETELY. Botros was still impressed with the boy's effort. "Aah, Laguz sure would be useful in that case. It's not in the usual tracking charm, but if added, it would help detect any shams in the atmospheres. Magical shams." He nodded, beaming at the young Gryffindor.
Anyway. It was time they got on with the real deal.
Botros went to stand in front of the blackboard, his wand in hand and obviously preparing to explain some serious matters. "Well done everyone guessing those runes. Today, we're going to learn about the real track and capture charms. They're not traditionally used by the MLE because they require excellence in the Ancient Runes field and it's usually time-consuming. Though, I do believe they use the capture charm for extra security in the red-code cells." Red code? Super important and secure? Get it?
"So, to make a tracking charm, we need to draw the runes in a circular series, like so." Quote:

He paused before continuing, "Then we have Perthro, the rune of mystery and hidden things. It directs the other runes to look for the hidden magic and leave the uncovered magic out of the tracking processing. Then in the middle..." He pointed at the rune. "... we have a combination of Raidho and Isa." Quote:
