Waiiiiit! There were more Master Numbers? O_O They had always focused on these three that Adi had never stopped to wonder if there might be others. The Puffer raised a hand. "Um...44, Professor?'' His reasoning was logical, right? The answer followed the pattern formed by the other three.

First off the blocks came Adi. He seemed to have a quick mind. "Yes, fourty-four is a Master Number." One down, six to go. "No need for the questioning tone, Mr. Rehman, be confident!"

BUT... he could give it a good go. Six more, she'd said, right? Toby took a second to tally up things in his head, before raising his hand. Adi had already mentioned 44 sooooo...

"Uh... 55?" he tried, seeming completely unsure but willing to give it a go. "'Cause it follows the pattern." He'd never really questioned why they stopped at 33, but now wondered if maybe it was because you rarely got numbers that were much higher.

Again with the questioning tone. "Same advice as I gave to Mr. Rehman, Tobias. And yes, it does indeed follow the pattern." That meant yes, in case he was wondering.

Hmm, interesting thought process. "I can see why you would guess that, Miss Valentine. If we have two 5's as Mr. Tempus mentioned, three 5's doesn't seem all that far-fetched." At least in her mind it didn't. "Unfortunately, it doesn't work out that way. But a good reasoning process nonetheless!" She had been reading a book about teaching techniques, and she was bound and determined to make each student's input seem valuable.

Why hadn't Domingo ever covered THAT, hm? That seemed like a pretty important thing to know, and if Domingo had been such an expert on numbers...

Soph eyed Tanner curiously. Was the woman just making this up, or...?

While the Ravenclaw grabbed for her textbook and started sifting through it to find just WHERE this stuff was mentioned, Adi and Tobes were quick to offer up their guesses in increasing values of eleven, and Soph liked their train of thought, so her hand shot up to add to it with confidence. "EIGHTY-EIGHT." A solid guess and not at all going in order from the Hufflepuffs' suggestions, but she liked it that way. Heheheh.

Ah, confidence in action! Well done, yes. She beamed at her eagle. "Indeed, 88! That leaves three more, keep them coming, class!"

If it was being pointed out and made aware of, no doubt it might be useful in the future.

He listened as first Adi and another Hufflepuff had guesses and he had to admit they made sense. The previous three known master numbers were ones that were two digits and each digits was the same as the other. Benny wrote them down on his paper, starting with the five already given. 11...22...33...44...55...and on. No third 5 he believed as Angel suggested as she too spoke up with a guess.

The fourth year finally raised a hand to take a guess for himself. "Would 99 be one?"

There were six more master numbers? So, all together there were nine. Hmm… Zhenya had no idea what other numbers they were. She knew 11 was one, but that was the only one she really took notice of. But, fitting into the pattern, surely if 11, 22, and 33 were numbers, then all other multiples of 11 were too? She raised her hand, hoping this pattern fit with the correct answer. "Er, what about number 99, Professor?"

The next two to offer a guess were not quite as confident, but that didn't bother her. Not everyone was into yelling their answers. Thank goodness. "Correct, Mr. Atreyu and Miss Burton. Well done. Others?" she finished, directing the last question to the class as a whole.

The fourth year was bored in no time and because she didn't understand a word professor Tanner was saying, she decided to stop listening. Being too transparent for her own good, it was now clearly obvious she wasn't paying attention. She rested her elbow on the desk and her chin on the palm of her hand and stared out the window.

No, that posture would absolutely not do. "Miss Hapgood, if you do not plan on contributing to the lesson in a positive manner," or at all, for that manner, "then I'm not sure why you came in the first place. I suggest engaging a bit more, both mentally and physically." And if neither, then the door was open.

If there was something she'd never heard before then she'd let some ink onto the parchment.

"What about 66?"

That would be her guess for a master number if there were more, though honestly, she couldn't think of a time when she bothered to question why they only stopped at 33. Did it really matter? None of her numbers ended in Master Numbers, not that she could remember.

As to the numbers, he appreciated people's logical way of thinking. Patterns and educated guesses, but he wasn't exactly sure if they were right or not. 11, 22 and 33 were interesting numbers in their own right. Because if 11 was having the number one and one together. And if one separated 11 to 1 and 1 that equaled 2 of the 22. And 33, well, was a very spiritual number in many, many religions. Yo, he had done his medieval studies.

More basically then that 11 plus 11 was 22 and 11 plus 22 was 33. NOT RANDOM.

They didn't seem random to him.

Hugh threw his hand up in the air like he just don't care and ranted, "Professor, these double digits follow a pattern, yes. In numerous ways, yo. So, like, maybe its 66?"

That also wasn't far off from another spiritual number. AHEM. Again, he did his medieval studies.

"Right, Miss Cambridge and Mr. Hughbert." She smiled warmly at them both There was just one number left, if she was remembering correctly.

She knew that numbers were considered male and female. Fahd figured that those sexist Pythagoreans would probably want a Master number to be male, hence an odd number.

Jasmine understood how most of her classmates were thinking. They were going with a pattern. Raising her hand, she prepared to take a wild guess at the answer. "Could one of the Master numbers be 13?". It probably made no logical sense, but it was an odd, manly numer.....so Jasmine went with it.

But Miss Guidry had not come up with it. "It is true that thirteen is often associated with magic. However, it does not belong to the ranks of Master Numbers." But again, Tiara understood the guess. "A worthy effort, thank you."

Zeke just nodded his understanding at her response and the jotted down some notes.

To that, he then added the notes Professor Lady put on the board too, cause those would be handy.

As for OTHER numbers?

Illumination? And Enlightenment? Stuff like that? WHAATT?

...

The Ravenclaw that spoke before him seemed to be thinking what HE was thinking too. Thirteen was SURELY one of the numbers.

"I agree with her, Professor," he said after raising his hand, and for good measure he pointed to the Claw girl he didn't know (Daydreamer11). "Stonemasons thought that thirteen was a number of enlightenment, they used it in everything, it was like a HIGHER POWER THINKING number, or something like that. It even influenced stonemason artists and things to put it in their work all sneaky like." But don't ask him for examples, he didn't pay attention to THAT part.

She had no idea what he was talking about. "I do not recall hearing about this before, Mr. Rogers. Would you do me the favor of finding that information and writing me up a little something about it? I would reimburse you with a few points, of course." Either he was on to something or he was crazy. Either way she would enjoy the results.

Clearly she was being mistaken with someone else, so she gave the woman a smile.

And what did she say? Pencil? Curiously Ariel picked it up again. "What does a pencil do? Scuttle never told me about them." Probably because she hadn't come across any in a shipwreck.

"And I'm 16, so that number!" Forgetting that she was actually 14.

For a moment Tiara was afraid. Did I really just call her the wrong name?! She had known this girl for a few years and - wait, she thought Tiara had just called her Miss? And she didn't know what a pencil was? Scuttle? That's when Tiara realized what she was dealing with. Oh no, not another! This was really getting out of hand.

Better to just let her live in her own la-la-land, probably. If the pattern held, she'd snap out of it soon. "Well, please ask Scuttle to fill you in after class, alright?" And as for her guess, "Why not! Sixteen can be one for today, just for you." She threw in a wink for good measure.

SIGH.

Then someone was going on about being Ariel. "Not this again." Heather had thought that this whole fairy tale thing was over, considering nothing had happened on that front for awhile. Now it was rearing it's ugly head again. Sigh. She was SOOOOOOO over it.

Now here was a guess that she couldn't immediately see the reasoning for... unless it was simply that: a guess. "Fourteen? I'm afraid not, but good try!"

Unless someone had been able to make a giant sinkhole swallow the quidditch pitch, it was unlikely that it could have been a deliberate move by whoever had threatened the school. Wait, if the chorts were somehow purposely brought here... and the snow brought by the chorts caused the quidditch pitch sinkhole... could the whole thing have been engineered as part of the quidditch threat? If Domingo had been involved with the chorts, was she somehow involved with the quidditch threat? Either that or Professor Tanner had somehow planned this so she could be the arithmancy professor. That seemed highly unlikely, and there were much easier ways to get the job you wanted. She was just going to stick with the theory that Domingo was somehow involved with the chorts and the quidditch threat.

Penelope was so busy thinking that she almost didn't notice when Professor Tanner came over to her. "Huh? What?" She immediately snapped out of her deep thinking/ staring into space state and looked up at the board. Master numbers. After copying the notes from the board, she thought about what other numbers might be master numbers. "222?"

Master Number: a number which possesses extra power or potential

Triangle of Enlightenment
11 (vision): Master of Illumination, intuition
22 (action): Master Builder, goal achiever
33 (fulfillment): Master Teacher, servant

Penelope certainly had needed to snap back into class mode. Just a quick glance at her parchment told Tiara she had latched onto the information about Lolita rather than the lesson. "I'm afraid to say that, once again, simply adding another digit does not make it a master number, much like I was explaining to Miss Valentine." In other words, stay with us, kid.

So you know what, Zander would give it a go too. Just for fun though. That was his only reason, yup.

"How 'bout....." Hold on. This would take a little thought. "One thousand and seven... teen? One thousand and seventeen," Mhm. That was his guess.

Tiara couldn't help it. She actually laughed at this suggestion. Something about the way he had said it, with the hesitation and the questioning tone, just made it sound like a completely wild guess. "Points for creativity, Mr. Adair! Unfortunately, no, not a Master Number. But I like your style." Another wink.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

She ticked off the numbers on her fingers as she began to speak. "I heard 44, 55, 66, 88, and 99 as correct answers. The last one, which I don't believe I heard from anyone, is 77." She flicked her wand and the board changed accordingly.

Other Master Numbers
44: Master of the Material, money-savvy
55: Master of New Thought, freedom
66: Master of Peace, loving
77: Master of Spiritual Energy, go-with-the-flow
88: Master of Connections, union
99: Master of Motivation, leadership
"So now you have all the Masters. The reason why you may have only heard of the first three before is that the other six do not occur very often." The numbers being used would have to be quite large. "But they do happen. In fact, I have some examples!" Tiara ducked behind the podium and brought out some large photos, each at least two feet wide and three feet tall. "I found some pictures of famous Muggles and used an Engorgement Charm. Wingardium Leviosa!" The pictures took off and began floating around the room, weaving their ways in amongst the students. "Any guesses as to the identities of these people?"

Pictures 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7

OOC: One guess each! Again, crazy guesses work!
