SPOILER!!: Dot!

Jab the wand and cast, and it would rise up and turn into a planet that she could hold.

Why did it sound so much easier than it really was?

Dot squinted at her green pumpkin. "Fingere Elementi. Finger-y Element-y." That didn't sound right to her, but she said it anyway. "FINGERY ELEMENTY." Dot jabbed at her pumpkin, but instead of making it rise up and change into a planet, her wand snagged on the plastic and melted a hole right through. The sand slipped from the hole in a steady stream, a powdery snake piling on the floor in a glittering verdant pile.

OOPS.

In a move she'd perfected at the Start of Term Feast, Dot slid out of her chair and splayed on the floor with her head and shoulders shoved under her desk and her legs trailing out behind. Wand pointed at the mass of sand, Dot just frowned ferociously at it and willed it into a planet.

That didn't work. Maybe she could try the spell again on her pile of sand, especially now that she'd been listening to her classmates practice their own spellcasting. Not fingery elementy. "Fingere Elementi." Just like she'd imagined, the sand drew itself tightly into a spinning mass of green sand, pulling in tighter and tighter as a sphere began to emerge.

Or sort of a sphere? It wasn't as pretty and smooth and ROUND as Dot would have liked, but at least it wasn't a pile of sand on the floor.

What the...

Airey just watched as the second year made Swiss cheese out of her bag and then crawled under her desk. Not that he was one to judge what people did on the floor or anything. Taking a few cautious steps towards the Slytherin as she appeared with a planet, he gave her a small nod and tiny piece of advice. "Try to allow yourself a bit more distance between you and the bag next time. Wouldn't wand the planet to form around the tip of your wand should you skewer the bag. You'd have to blast it right off with Bombarda."

Or maybe she DID want that to happen and he had just given her an idea.

SPOILER!!: Thornton & Penelope!

Oh. May want to. That means DIDN'T HAVE TO, right? RIGHT?

He lifted his head a bit and opened his eyes to peek. Most didn't look to be practicing the spell. He breathed a sigh of relief, but when he saw his lumpy, misshapen planet, his heart sank again and he buried his head in his arms.

Thornton Baines, embarrassment to the Wrexham Baines.

Was that Thornton with his head on the desk? Did he need help? Penelope made her way over to Thornton, trying to control her planet. Letting the planet spin without her control, she turned her attention to the first year claw. He had a planet. "Well done on the planet, Thornton. Do you need any help with the locomotion charm?"

"He said may want to, which means 'don't have to' so I'm not going to." Biiiiiig shuddery intake of breath. Thornton could feel the anxiety balling up in his stomach again and he bounced a little in his seat trying to keep it at bay.

"Please, kindly, go away," he whispered, never once having looked at the girl. He didn't want to see who it was, so he didn't have to be embarrassed running into them in the corridor. It was bad enough that they already knew who he was and that he couldn't manage even simple spells.

Ravenclaws. Why was it always the Ravenclaws?

Giving Miss Wojack one final salute, he made his way over to the Ravenclaw duo and beamed somewhat obnoxiously down at them. "Everything alright over here?"

A quick glance down at his sundial watch told him that practice time was up and it was time to get a move on. With a wave of his wand, the astronomer made two large boxes appear, one containing some chest armor and the other helmets.

"If everyone could please leave your planets where they are and come put a helmet and chest armor on," he instructed. "Purely a precautionary measure." Because, well, asteroids were sort of dangerous, you know?

And while they did that he was going to talk just a little. Or a lot. He tended to do the latter far more when it came to lessons.

"Going back to asteroids for a moment, within our own Solar System has an asteroid belt located roughly between the orbits of the planets Mars and Jupiter. If something were to knock into one of these asteroids as they orbit, they could fall towards the Sun, Mars or even Jupiter. Some even say that Mars' two moons, Phoenis and Demos, may have been asteroid that got caught by the planet's gravitational pull. There are also asteroids called Trojan asteroids that share an orbit with a planet and therefore circle around the sun in front or behind the planet. There are also over 8000 known near Earth asteroids that are often the inspiration for science fiction films with giant asteroids on an intercept course with Earth. And of course, there is also the the Kuiper belt waaaaaaaaaay out there beyond Neptune. More than 7000 asteroids have been discovered and several hundred more are discovered each year," he lectured - probably droning on and on for some but the giddy school boy tone and bounce in his step hopefully kept most people's attention.

With another flick of his wand, all the desks in the classroom were pushed back up against the walls and the armillary sphere in the center of the classroom began to glow and formed a ball that resembled the sun - ony without the heat and blinding light. A swarm of red, yellow, blue, and green orbs, about the size of quaffles, appeared in the air around the armillary sphere and began to orbit around it. Some had very circular orbits while others were much more elliptical. Some appeared to be orbiting much faster because of their shorter orbit while others seemed to move a bit more slowly.

Grinning, in a rather comic book villain sort of way, he turned back towards the class.

"I would like you all to please spread out around the classroom, but please stay at least 10 steps back from our make-shift Solar System," he said as he gestured around the circular classroom. "For this activity you will all be acting as those near Earth asteroids, where you are the outside force that removes the asteroid from its original orbit. However, unlike the ones floating out there in space right now, you will be able to have some aim." Cue a little smirk as he gave his wand another flick and made another ring of floating gray objects appear - this time just outside of the sea of house colored planets and in various shape all about the size of a bludger.

"The 'planets' you have created are going to be your ammunition and after you use one should grab another bag from the appropriate box. Using the Locomotion Charm, you will fling it towards one of our asteroids with a firm flick of your wand downwards to knock it off it's orbit and hopefully impact one of the planets orbiting around our Sun. Should your asteroid hit, it will cause the planet to explode," he explained. Explode into what exactly? Glitter and confetti of the same color. He had tried to think of something else that could give off that sheen that glitter could, but kept coming up short.

Stupid glitter. Worst invention known to mankind.

"Miss and, well, that is why we have protective gear on. You do not need to stay in one place and are free to move about the perimeter. The goal is that you destroy the orbiting planets of the other houses, leaving your own the sole survivor in the Solar System."

Get it? Got it? GOOD! STELLAR!

He gave the room another look over, making sure that everyone had their gear on before continuing.

"Which ever house has the most planets remaining by the end of 30 minutes is the winner! Oh your mark...get set...ENGAGE!"
OOC: ACTIVITY TIME! Please keep the following guidelines in mind as you RP.

▸ Think of this as "intergalactic billiards" where the planet your character created is the billiards cue, the asteroid the cue ball, and the house colored planets the pockets on the table
▸ There are an equal number of planets for each house. What that number is is for me to know and you to find out :3
▸ You can either create a planet or fling a planet in a post. Not both.
▸ Your character can destroy only ONE planet at a time.
▸ Please TITLE your post with the color of planets you are destroying. This will help me keep track of things easier.
▸ Each planet that gets destroyed means one less planet for that house. I will be keeping track and if a house runs out of planets floating around then that house is out of the running.
▸ If your house runs out of planets this DOES NOT mean you are done RPing. You can continue to destroy planets and perhaps get some revenge Once again, this is to keep things fair.
▸ Talk & interaction between students is encouraged!
▸ This activity will be open for at least 48 hours to give everyone plenty of time to participate
▸ Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaave fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun!

Minimum of 4 posts to get full credit. Extra credit possible for outstanding RPing.

Please feel free to VM or PM me with any questions or ask them IC to Professor Flamsteed.
