A soft sigh escaped the boys’ lips as he continued to bend down, staring at his newfound responsibility. The ball of fur was curled up underneath the couch, sleeping.

“What are you doing?”

Kyroh straightened up and turned around, coming face to face with one of his best friends. “Watching Zeus.”

Maddie titled her head to the side. “Why?”

“’Cause you said i’m one of his Kneazle daddies. So I have to watch him and make sure he’s good and stuff.”

“Not all the time Freckles.”

He wiped at his forehead, then nodded. “That’s good, ‘cause Knealze-dadding is hard work.”
