“Oh?” Everett laughed, voice dry and hollow as he spun around. “So you betrayed me and you think I’m going to be merciful?” Him. The MLE. The Ministry. The man in the cell was a ghost of his former self. Or maybe he wasn’t. Maybe Everett hadn’t known him at all. It was all an act. And now he wanted mercy.
