"How about Salvio Hexia? It's like a sort of protective barrier that one can use to stop from getting hexed. Like you said with Isa, it means to create a sort of obstacle or unwanted energy. Salvio Hexia seems to be something like that, I mean, that it connects with what Isa means." There. That was Tag's answer. Err, sort of. Still a hint of confusion in Tag's answer but it was there no matter what. Quote:

Isa meant protection and also meant the halting of unwanted forces (as the textbook put it, right?). So by that logic, it seemed like it would be a good idea to pair Isa with any defensive charm. He raised his hand in the air and waited to be called on. Once he was called on, he began speaking. "As with Salvio Hexia, you could pair Isa with Cave Inimicum. The spell itself is used to strengthen a wall or enclosure from enemies. Its to protect yourself and your company. Since Isa can mean protection against unwanted forces then I think the two could work together nicely, producing an even stronger barrier to protect yourself," explained Simon. It sort of made sense to him. Quote:

Feeling that she'd gone out on a limb, Jasmine waited to see what the other students had to say. Quote:

Y'know what else took patience? Staying awake in this class.. Quote:

"Could it be used with Impedimenta? It could provide an extra way to slow down obstacles or any threat.'' That's how the Hufflepuff figured it out in his head, anyway. Quote:

That was his logic to all of this. Quote:

Did it only work to enhance spells, or could it enhance other things, like potions? Rather than just list another spell that it might work with, Penelope decided to ask her question. "Professor, you said that runes can be used to enhance spells, but can they also be used to enhance potions? We learned how to brew this potion in potions class that could be used to manipulate people by making them feel guilty. The potion is not as effective if the person's will is strong. Could Isa be used with this potion to suppress or block the emotions, other than guilt, of a strong willed person to make the potion more effective on them?" That would be interesting to experiment with if Isa could be used with the potion. Maybe she could get extra credit if she tried it. Even if she could not get extra credit, it would still be interesting to try, with supervision, of course. Quote:

When would they learn about a rune that helped with explosions? Lex was keen to learn something along those lines, if only to give her more to be in awe of when she went to the dueling arena these days.
This was telling of the fact she needed to teach herself another curse soon. Quote:

Since it's basically the opposite of coldness and cold air is definitely unwelcome around here these days......." Maybe it could even make the spell strong enough to get rid of the blizzard outside? Yeah okay, that was wishful thinking, but this cold was driving her crazy. Quote:

Yeah, cause some animals went into hibernation in winter, rightt? So maybe everyone at the castle should do, and wake up when it was ALL OVER. "Sleeping equals resting, right?" he was legit asking. He only half-listened to the information about Isa, given it was really just refreshing things he knew already, And... now to name a spell. Well... He put his hand up. "What about disillusionment charms? Isa is good for stealth and illusion too, when it lies in opposition to other runes." Not merkstave exactly, given it couldn't be reversed... And... "If you had it engraved on your wand, professor, wouldn't it technically help you with casting any spell to some degree? Not necessarily the efficacy of the spell but more like... your focus and clarity in a way because it might help calm you if you tend to get nervous or worked up about not getting your spells right on the first go, and help you be patient with yourself as well." Which... lead to another sort of abstract thought of sorts. Relating to wands... and the fact that they were.... sort Isa shaped. West mused on this a bit but kept his thoughts on that matter to himself. Quote:

Potions? by Penelope Wright Finite + Finite Incantatem Botros stood there staring at the list with a broad smile. "Most of those spells are great with Isa. Some are better than others, let us specify; Protective spells do work well with Isa but they work better with Algiz as we learned last term, the protective side of Isa is limited to stopping the bad literally stopping it in time or in space. It doesn't remove it, it just freezes it until you move out of the way or duck." He hoped they were writing what he was saying because it was serious information.
"The cheering charm works alright with Isa but if you want a real mood booster there's definitely a better rune to go with that. Isa would calm an enraged person rather than cheer someone up." His cane touched the board to the next spell. "The levitation charm doesn't go well with Isa. It's a movement charm, Isa is all about stillness and staying in place, but thank you for thinking outside the box Mr. Adair.
"The Impedimenta jinx works great with Isa, as well as Petrificus totalus." He looked at the two boys who suggested them respectively, "Any jinx or hex that's about freezing or binding goes very well with Isa, but don't get any ideas now, those are only allowed in the Dueling arena." He chuckled, and moved on. "The Imperturbable charm does not benefit from Isa's magic energy, but the barrier it creates will hold longer than average. With the right rune master and some spells, the barrier would freeze the eavesdropper." He gave Whitlock a mischievous smile. "Ms. Newell here suggested a very interesting charm, the Containment charm. I would say, Newell, that this is a doable combination. You just need to really focus your intention when you summon Isa's magic and touch that deeper meaning of the rune if you want it to enhance that charm. It's a little harder to achieve than freezing water, like Mr. Newell just suggested, but it's doable." He had faith in the Slytherin girl, she had the dedication for it.
"Aguamenti and the other water spells do work with Isa, the rune would most likely get them to produce frozen or extremely cold water. So, if that is your intention, you're welcome to use it." The Newell boy got a small smile. "The same goes for Ventus, the rune would help produce really cold, sometimes with frozen particles even, wind. Be careful if you try it inside." He was not a fan of this combination, obviously.
As for the napping or sleeping spell, Botros chuckled. "Hibernating spell? You mean something that gives a drowsy effect on the castee? Hmm... Isa does have a calming effect if you have the right will when you invoke it, so yes, it could work." The little Hufflepuff got an encouraging smile. "Disillusionment charm, like Mr. Odessa suggested, would go very well with Isa. This rune's main energy is stasis, the disillusionment charm makes the target as a chameleon, it allows it to take the color and texture of what surrounds it, with Isa the disillusionment would stabilize the target's ability to mimic its environment. Brilliant suggestion, Mr. Odessa." Just like with Ms. Newell.
"Potions do work well with runes, Ms. Wright, but that's a discussion for another lesson." He gave the little Ravenclaw a warm smile before moving to the last student. "The answer I was looking for specifically is said by Mr. Mordaunt." Once again this boy impressed him. "Isa is a stopper, mainly. It works perfectly with Finite, the spell that stops any action or magic. I do realize that Isa doesn't end the process when it's used on its own, but with Finite, Isa significantly helps that spell in doing what it's supposed to do." He adds it on the board.
"Now. I want you all to take the Isa runestone, chant the galdr to activate it then use it with the spells you suggested. Those of you who suggested hexes and jinxes, please practice Isa with the Finite charm instead." He leaned backwards on his desk. "You may work with a partner, you need to work with one I'm assuming, and just be creative in how you use those spells. If there's no more questions, you may begin. I'm right here watching." So, no funny business. ooc: - whew! okay, sorry it's long xD This is the last portion of the class and it's rewarded with 10 points (extra credit is possible).
- You need at least 5 posts to get full credit, creativity will get you EC.
- Class will remain open for another two days (maybe a little more), so you have enough time.
