| So we had a whole post all ready and then we lost it *pouts* YesJess! | Captain Goggles | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers Seeing some of the quiet ones, Fina realized she probably ought to add something else before she responded about the ingredients; "Just another quick rule; if you don't help prepare the food, you don't eat it." Glances toward you - Nigel, Penelope, Ascanius, Tobias, Lotus in particular Hayden and Jasmine being exempt due to newness And where was that Gryffindor Prefect? Wasn't she always complaining about the lack of food in her classes? Quote:

This would be the best class ever.
"I think we're gonna need the rolling pin, salt, water, sugar, yeast and flour. And all the measuring stuff as well." Tag was almost certain that's what they needed. And did she expect the sauce on as well when Hadley said 'dough'? Yes? No? "And the tomato sauce, if you wanna take it a step further into dough making." "Yes, yes, exactly right!" Fina beamed at the first to answer; who even remembered the surprising ingredient too. Quote:

Flours was the obvious ingredient but he was certain there were other stuff that went into the dough. "Um...Flour, salt and yeast, Professor.'' At least he thought salt was one of the ingredients. Yeast was for sure though. "And sugar too!" Shocking, hmm? Quote:

He exhaled a sigh of relief. Phew. He actually knew how to make that. Phew. He quickly made a note of each of the items that were there in his notebook. It'd be good to have it for later. So what did they need for the dough?
Simon raised his hand. "Flour, olive oil, sugar, yeast, and salt. Also a rolling pin. " "Good, except no olive oil is used in the actual dough preparation. That's used afterwards." Quote:

They were going to be using the aguamenti charm, and that was an added bonus because that was actually one spell that she had mastered. Thinking about the question that was asked, she raised her hand. "Flour, professor." That was essential yes? "Flour, yes. Essential ingredient." Fina nodded. Quote:

Dough? What was required to make dough? Glancing over at the utensils provided plus the big pizza stone, Cris hazarded a guess that they would be making pizza today.
Raising his hand, Cris replied,"i think you'd need flour, yeast, salt. How about spices, Professor, especially if you want the crust to have a certain distinct taste? And of course water." "No spices are used in the actual dough preparation. Afterwards and before you bake, sure. But you're missing sugar from your list." Not that it was a surprising miss for many of them. Quote:

Staring at the ingredients in front of her, Layla picked out two right off that would be used in a dough. "Aside from the water, I would use flour and yeast." Yep, yep. "And sugar and salt too..." Quote:

Quickly making his way to one of the workstations, the Gryffindor couriousily eyed the ingredients. His stomach let out a low grumble as he eyed the cheese. Looking around the room to make sure he was as sneaky as possible, the third year pinched a little of the shredded cheese and put it in his mouth. YUM.
He then looked up as Hadley began speaking once more. Well Zander had never made pizza before... But he most certainly ate, many pizzas before. "Definitely the yeast and flour? Possibly sugar and salt?" Maybe... He wasn't sure. What did it matter anyways, it was all going to get eaten in the end! "Definitely sugar and salt too!" So yes, to all he mentioned, technically? As he made his way to the work station, he heard the professor ask a question. What ingredients do you need to make the pizza dough.
Kace grinned and raised his hand to show some participation even though the answers were said perfectly by the others. "Professor I know you need the basic ingredient flour...and some salt and possibly some butter to spread over the dough?" He asked if he remembered correctly. "No butter," Fina shook her head. "Olive oil is used AFTER the dough is prepared though. Gives a nice flavor and a nice golden brown colouring to the crust." Quote:

Raising his hand he said "Professor i know for sure you need flour to make dough" see he knew this was one of his favourite classes. Fina nodded as another one stated flour was needed. That was the obvious ingredient. Quote:

He raised his hand. "You need that yeast stuff to make the bread rise, don't you?" he said. Yes, he was certain that was a thing! "Yes, yeast to make the dough rise. Good!" Quote:

Oh yes they were.
"Flour, yeast, salt.." Was the sugar for the dough or to mix in the sauce? While attempting to improve her cooking skills these past two summers, Schuyler HAD come across dishes that called for sugar in the sauce. Sooo...
Yeah. She'd stick with those. "...and sugar too." But other than that, she was right on with the ingredients. Quote:

The boy raised his hand. RAISE. HIGH. HE KNEW THE ANSWER! "Pre-made dough." Yeah. "I mean that's not already here. But if it was, it would make pretty good dough." And cut the time in half and stuff. "Ah pre-made dough would be more convenient, yes," Fina smiled in amusement, "But see then, where would be the fun in not making your own?" She doubted he would be complaining about brewing a potion, so how was dough making any different? HMM, HMM? Quote:

Oh, and while it isn't an ingredient you also need a rolling pin so you can flatten out the dough." Was she missing anything? "And sugar too, is one of the ingredients," Fina nodded. "So as some of you mentioned, we do use sugar in the dough. Not a lot, but it is there as an ingredient." They'll discuss the whys of each ingredient once they gather all the ingredients together and are waiting for it to rise. But first things first. "Before we begin, please come put on an apron and wash your hands." Their hands were disgusting and grimy and surely they didn't want to get sick from preparing food with dirty hands? She indicated towards the various sizes and coloured aprons that were hanging on the hook by the sink as she donned a yellow one herself. She then retied her hair back into her a low bun. "And also, girls? And boys?" Technically. Ahem, Nigel. "Despite the dose of protein, you'll want to tie your hair back as no one wants hair in their pizza."
Whilst they were getting on their own aprons and washing their hair, Hadley set to work on copying the recipe onto the portable chalkboard: 1 1/2 cup warm water
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon. yeast
1/2 teaspoon salt
3-4 1/2 cups flour - Step One: Using one of the bowls at your workstation, combine the water, sugar, and yeast. Let the mixture stand for 10 minutes (or until yeast is bubbly)
- Step Two: Add salt and stir.
- Step Three: Add 1/2 cup flour and mix well, gradually adding more flour (usually no more than 3-4 1/2 cups) until the dough starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl and no longer sticks to your fingers. You'll want to add just 1/2 a cup at a time.
- Step Four: Spray the other bowl with cooking spray and place dough in the bowl.
- Step Five: Cover and allow the dough to rise for 45 minutes, or until its doubled in size.
"So the recipe for the dough is on the board. You may work in pairs, or individually, as there's enough ingredients for both options." Anything else they needed to know? "We'll discuss more about the ingredients after we get the dough prepared while we're waiting for it to rise." In the meantime they had to get the dough prepared, as that was possibly the longest part in the whole process.
Once she made sure everyone to got to work, Hadley settled into her own workstation. Because at least if they failed (and she was expecting at least SOME of their pizzas to not come out right), they would have one good pie. ooc: Dough prep time! I'll check back in about 11 hours or so for questions and whatnot. Feel free to make your character add too little or too much ingredients (if its IC of them to do so). And in about 17-18 hours, we'll be at step five - the waiting game and have some more discussion!
