Cosgrach didn't directly look at Kevin but turned his gaze towards there when he tried to say something, but the man didn't understand it. And anyway, he was ignoring him, so he didn't try his best to understand. Kevin didn't try to say something more, so Cosgrach was pleased. She gave her face a quick wipe and waved her wand all over the place (and fanned away the heavy smoke coming from her cauldron).

See, Cosgrach didn't do anything, mainly because he was curious what would happen as no one had been this dumb before, but also because he wanted to see how dumb she could be.
...dumber than he'd thought.
Because he thought she would have vanished that potion with her wand, but instead she kept waving it, and before it got out of control, her potion was vanished AND he'd cast a silent expelliarmus to get her wand.
See, it didn't feel real at this point, so he wasn't really angry. He was just... numb... guess his brain shut itself down not to hurt itself more?
He calmly walked over to her and looked at her cauldron as if it was a joke and it wasn't really happening. Yep. It had melted at the base. She'd have to buy a new cauldron. He wasn't angry, no, but his initial enthusiasm was clearly gone. He just wanted to get over with this class, and he announced the next step in a monotone voice: "Add one drop of doxy venom. It should smoke for a few seconds. Wave your wand again once it stops smoking."
At least, no one had messed the previous step up, except for that girl, who was...
