Boiling is when the bubbles start coming up and heat rises, yeah?" And another deliberate look at her cauldron. "Think I got that step down. Yup." And one of those forced smiles like the one Grayson had just given her because she was trying to be nice, see? Good student who shouldn't be punished when she visited the office later. Ahem. Was that supposed to be funny?
Cosgrach forced a laugh, then smiled CUUUUTELY at Alexa. "Detention is when the professor wants to teach his student a lesson, because the student is pushing her luck, yeah?" Yeah? Not that he would, 1. he didn't want to spend more time than necessary with her, 2. he didn't want her to be in detention, because she was actually good and he was impressed with her 'E', 3. he BET the rest of the school, instead of disapproving her, would actually clap her for her courage.
So, trusting the cute little kid with the message he was told to deliver to Alexa, he smiled at her again and looked at someone else. Let's see how well she copes with the pressure of a possible detention. Quote:

Yes. Yeah sorry, it was boiling.” And then there was this type who couldn't handle the fame. "Oh, get over it already," Cosgrach grumpily retorted, "and focus on the potion."
Yesplsthx. He didn't want any seventh years blowing cauldrons. Quote:

Cosgrach seemed to calm down a little. "Yes, in this potion, crushing with and without makes a difference. If you crush with magic, it basically nullifies it." So you can't get everything done with magic. HEAR THIS, CHILDREN! "And wooden stirrers generally soak, but we don't want to waste any drop of blood at all. Almost in every potion, though, wooden or metal, or even the types of metal makes a change." Why did he think some cauldrons were much more expensive? Because they were more beautiful to the eye? Oh. "You will!" Kyroh nodded. He hoped he would like him. That way he would not kick him out of the class. Kyroh listed to the professor and nodded a few times, although his words didn't REALLY mean that much to him. For science. But science seemed mean. "But we don't really need to be strong like those people in accent times. I mean lifting a car and stuff doesn't really help you to right? Cause you are just a Professor and you don't need to lift stuff anyways. Unless someone was trapped under a car and dying and you wanted to save the day but I think they'd already be dead by then." Not like comic books at all. He was rambling just a bit because the Professor was actually looking at him now. He had OTHER questions to ask the man as well but he didn't want him to hate him so Kyroh just didn't ask. It was a first. "I still don't want to touch it even for science though sir. So i'm just going to follow along with someone else." Was that OKAY? Could he do that? See, Cosgrach was actually impressed that the kid still held onto his idea, albeit it was an absurd one. And he was even more impressed that the kid took the initiative to move somewhere else. So, not to hold him, he didn't respond but nodded approvingly, and slowly moved around the students.
This kid...
Cosgrach didn't want to admit it, but he liked him. Quote:

I might faint in a while. I don't care if you think I'm such a weakling but I do need help. The B-word free kind of help, preferably. Only one of those titles were enough, -
...
Oh. OH!
See, Cosgrach liked kids like him MORE. Trying their best even though they were tried. Cosgrach was next to him the next moment and he looked at him concerned. "That's okay. I mean, you don't have to add the heart, but it will reduce the effect of it. And the other ingredients, why not, I could add them while you're looking away." Or someone else. It didn't matter. What mattered was that, he wanted him to finish the potion too. "Or, do you have a better idea?" Cosgrach had never been hemophobic before, he didn't know what would help.
Ignore his ignorance. Quote:

And that actually sounded kind of sad, to be honest. Hiding away like that so you didn't hurt people. Wasn't that what Batman did? The redhead wasn't sure about that. She was more of a Superman fan herself. What? She liked old literature and movies. The Ravenclaw was one of those "stuck in the wrong generation" kids everyone's always making fun of. She had more questions?
Alright, alright. Her questions actually calmed him down.
He actually smiled at her first question. She was right. He was going to explain it all in the end, but it was good to know someone wondered these things. "I'll explain that once we're finished with brewing. Think you can wait that much?" It wasn't a request, actually. He was just being kind. Quote:

She knew that she could never be as smart as the book-loving Ravenclaws who were probably all looking at her and hoping her stupidity didn't lose them points right now.
She should explain. "It's just that it's easier to keep the letters in order if I can run my finger under them as I read." So her brain was forced to watch the actual progression of them, not whatever jumbled mess it wanted to give her. Or someone could just read them out loud to her. That would work just as well. Quote:

Besides, if she remembered correctly, Culloden sometimes gave points for people who helped out, and she would definitely not say no to some extra points. "Hey, Gwen," she said, walking over to the girl on her right (and conveniently away from the firstie who'd thrown up in her potion, which was still grossing Adrienne out). "If you don't want to walk all the way up there you can just use my notes, or I can read them aloud to you if that's easier." Oh.
Well. "It's nothing to be ashamed of, hey," he said as he smiled encouragingly at her. All of his anger had vanished at that time. "And I'm sure -" we can find you someone eager to read out the steps. But before he could finish, Adrienne was there. "Please help her, Adrienne," he said simply, nodded, and turned to leave the girls alone; because he was sure they could solve it by themselves? If not, he was there, anyway.
Yeah. Quote:

Somehow, he managed not to spill a drop before pouring it into the bowl of salamander blood. Now for the tricky part... Mo had to read the board over and over to make sure he got this part exactly right. Mix counter-clockwise. Mix clock-wise. Five times each.
And. Done. Now... where was that griffin claw? And just like that, Mo's bowl of blood was vanished. "You stirred in the wrong order. First clockwise, then counter clockwise." And because he was such a bright student, "fill your cup again." But he wasn't that clever to get a third chance, and five minutes were nearly up...
He'd better hurry. Quote:

I-uh- I didn't mean to cause any trouble... Sir, Professor Sir." Really he was only trying to make sure the water didn't over flow. But like always he seemed to start on the wrong foot. He literally felt his whole body tense through the whole debacle and noticed that his knees were shaking from underneath the table. Hehehe, how funny it was when the students got all excited because they thought he was going to eat them - Not funny, Cosgrach F. Culloden! They are students! You can't play with them like this.
Why don't you shut up, conscience? "Don't let it happen again."
Yep. Quote:

Yyyyep. "ALRIGHT, TIME'S UP!" Cosgrach yelled to get all of their attention, "all the blood mixture sloooowly, and the claw AFTER the bloods immediately!"
Clear? EASY? Quote:
