"Hi Prof Airey, how are you feeling today?"

Pleasantries out of the way Ana walked towards the closet and grabbed the lab coat with her name on and the pair of goggles before walking to a seat near the front of the lab. She put her coat on, it looked quite nifty and sat down before really paying attention to the materials in front of her. Helium, Hydrogen and Iron, along with a large glass box. Experimentation!

"Professor, are we going to be doing an experiment on Stellar Nucleosynthesis?" Ana questioned, somewhat excitedly, and hoping he would say that they were. It was the only reason Ana could think of that they'd be using helium, hydrogen and iron all together in the astrophysics lab. Plus it was obvious they were doing an experiment of some sort and that would totally be the coolest one.

As she waited for an answer Ana placed the goggles on her desk and her bag beside the stool she was sitting on. She could tell that this lesson was going to be so much fun.
Blue eyes staring at the ceiling as if it were the most fascinating thing in the universe, the professor nearly missed the Slytherin's greeting because his bad ear was facing her. Well, he actually DID miss her asking how he was feeling, but he wouldn't have really had anything to say other than he was doing alright. Not stellar, but alright.

He glanced at the jars on the stations before looking back at Miss Constantinople. Wait...that didn't sound right in his head... Oh well. "You'll just have to wait and see," he said with a smirk.

"Hiya Professor," he said softly, coughing from the LONGGGGGG walk up to the astrophysics lab from the dungeons. Right, lab material and coats and stuff. UGH.
Airey gave the Slytherin a polite nod of the head and was about to return the greeting when the boy began coughing. "Back in my day, Mr. Newell, we covered our mouths when we coughed."

Kids these days.

Even if the professor did find it slightly amusing that the boy was beginning to resemble Jack Frost. Or Santa.

... She dropped her bag near her seat before she walked to the closet, picked out her lab coat and a pair of goggles. Looked like this class was going to be super interesting, for sure. She put her coat on before walking back to her seat, placed her goggles on her seat and sat down. Okay. She was ready for class to begin.
He had to squint real hard to see who was speaking to him, so thankfully he missed the looks she was giving him. "Good day, Miss Starr," he smiled at the Hufflepuff.

description distinctively says there is NO lint roller

Using the lab meant also using goggles and lab coats. He got one of the coats and the yellow goggles with his name in it from the closet. Adi went over to greet old man Flamsteed. "Hello, Professor. How's old age treating you?'' Well, the man DID look old. The Puffer was curious about the hand behind his back but just offered the man a grin.
Stare. Excuse you, Mr. Hufflepuff. His birthday may have been about a month ago, but that did NOT make him old. Nor did he appreciate having his appearance mocked like that...and then grinned at on top of it all.

KIDS THESE DAYS!

"I don't know, how does having 5 points taken treat you?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.

... Lots. Of. Questions.
Smiling at the Head Boy, the astronomer tried to return the wave, but since both of his hands were preciously occupied he hoped that the wiggle of the cane would suffice. "Oh, thank you, Mr. Summers. Has a bit of moon rock here at the top. Custom made."

And had belonged to his father.

"Hey...up for some creating?" he mused, eying what was on the desk in front of him.
Seeing a second year with a beard was both confusing and amusing. More confusing than anything though, especially since he hadn't been able to grow any sort of facial hair until, well, recently.

"Good day, Mr. Atreyu." He watched as the boy took his seat and squinted. "EH? What was that? Carbon dating? We won't be doing any of that today."

Shame. "Hello, Professor Flamsteed"

What was with the lab coats and goggles. This was not potions or anything like that. Not questioning it further. Nigel grabbed his embroidered coat. Pretty cool and his goggles.

Now what were they going to be doing with Iron, Helium, and Hydrogen?
"Good day, Mr. Barrington. Well fought match the other day," he said to the prefect as he entered. "Stellar aim." And strategy, but he ought not to say such a thing out loud.

Such a nice box.
What was this? Miss Cambridge not saying hello as she entered? The professor felt sad on the inside, but it would pass.

Though he had been alright in the dance lesson. But he was serious.

Don't hurt yourself.
Wash yourself? That was quite an odd thing to ask a professor to do, which was why he was giving the boy looks. But then it all sort of made sense. Sort of.

"I will certainly try, Mr. Radley. I don't fancy another visit to the hospital wing."

"Hello, Miss Smith," he smiled at the Ravenclaw. She got a little bit of a cane wiggle as well.

"Good to see you, Miss Winters," he greeted the Ravenclaw as he rubbed his head anxiously. There was something that he was going to tell her. Something relating to the homework...OH YES!

"Hi, Professor Flamsteed," she said.

She moved past him and laid her book bag down at the seat she'd chosen to take. She then collected her white lab coat and goggles, put them on, and returned to her seat.
"Hello, Miss Newell," he greeted the second year. "Congratulations on your win."

Walking over to the closet, she found her coat and goggles before taking a seat. She was excited to learn about space, because it was interesting even though it greatly confused her.
Smiling at the Hufflepuff, he nearly removed his hand from behind his back just to show that he wasn't actually holding it there because his back was hurting, but that would ruin the grand revealing. "Thank you, Miss Carrington. I suppose it is doing a bit better."

He obviously had other things to worry about at the moment.

Wiggling his cane towards the seventh year, Airey gave the laboratory a quick look over. He was rather fond of the place. Pity that no previous professor in recent terms had had one place in the Astronomy Tower. "Thank you, Mr. Strand. I hope it doesn't disappoint."

Because he sometimes got the impression that students were disappointed when they didn't spend all their time using telescopes. Astronomy was a lot more than just looking at the night sky after all.

The...WHAT? Might as well have told the man that he looked like an inferius...which was a DEAD body....which was probably the direction he was heading at an alarming rapid rate. So, thank you Miss Emmons, for reminding him of that sobering fact. He couldn't very well take points for that - because he knew some students would remind him that he had said similar things previously, so he just gave the Gryffindor a look. A LOOK. STARE!GLARE.

"I wouldn't go THAT far, Miss Emmons."

Mood. He was in a mood, and while it was no fault of the next student who addressed him, he did snap at her. Just a little. It was more of a grumble really.

"I've been better, Miss Delaine."

Giving the Hogwartian one of his brighter smiles, the tone of her voice did not go unnoticed. Even if her speech overall was a bit muffled. "Good day, Miss Wisteria. Thank you for your card. I greatly appreciated it. Do let me know when you want assistance finding what you are looking for."

Now then... one fancy embroidered blue lab coat. With his name on it. Awesome! Mo slipped it on, grabbed goggles, and looked for a desk. Maybe... by Alice. Yes, Alice was safe. She wouldn't harass him about lint rollers.
"Mr. Branxton, well played match. Had me on the edge of my seat," he nodded to the captain as he passed. And he hoped that the young man was taking it a bit easy now that the first match was over. He seemed to recall Mr. Branxton looking a little more exhausted than usual the previous lessons. "And well done not using the lint roller as a brush," he added in a whisper.

It was a good thing that the lint roller wasn't there because he probably would have forgotten to use it anyway. "Hello Professor." Michael grabbed his lab coat and goggles and went and found himself a seat.
Airey wasn't going to lie, he was a little jealous of Mr. Toussaint"s beard. He couldn't grow anything like that - although the grey stubble on his chin might be going somewhere since the man was too scared to attempt and shave.

"Hello, Mr.Toussaint," he greeted the boy, bad ear just so happening to be turned towards him.

"Does anyone see a mouse in here?" he asked, squinting at the floor. He was SURE he had placed the proper enchantments on the place to make sure nothing like that got into the place. Ugh, he hated Astronomy.

Taking what he needed to...he ignored Flammy and sat down.

Old geezer.
Checking his sundial watch and noting the time, Airey decided to stretch his limbs a bit and walk towards the door to the laboratory to close it himself instead of using his wand. Mostly because he had forgotten where he had placed it.

Fist still clenched behind his back as he walked, passing by the Slytherin as he sat down and...that old man smell, Mr. Stark? Just got a bit worse in the form of a silent air biscuit.

"Good day, Miss Ryans," he greeted the Hufflepuff as she entered.

He peeked outside the classroom for any stragglers and, seeing none, grunted as his upper body strength failed him while pulling the door shut. Giving it one more go, the door slowly swung closed and he turned to begin his hobble back towards the black board.

"If all the chit chatting could please stop now, let us begin," he announced while he hobbled along. Hobble hobble hobble. "Today is going to be a bit more of a hands on lesson, hence why I am holding it in the Astrophysics Laboratory instead of the classroom. Please do not touch any of the material in front of you before I have instructed you to do so."

Finally back in front of the blackboard Airey leaned half of his body weight against it and then looked at the blurry shapes that he knew to be students despite his poor eyesight. Should have brought his glasses. Oh well.

In your homework you were asked how long it took for the first stars to form after the Big Bang and your answers varied quite a bit from 400 million years to 200 million years to 155 million years to 30 million years,” he explained as he hobbled around and used his cane to support most of his body weight. “The truth of the matter is that the technology of today still limits us as humans in being able to both see and simulate these conditions. However, research at the National Space Centre in 2079 by muggle astronomer Royston Moore and his team indicates that perhaps the first stars formed as early as 27 billion years after the Big Bang.

OOC: studies relevant to us in 2014 lean towards the 30 million years. By the time our characters are studying this some 70 years later it is safe to assume that technology has advanced quite a bit and that there will be a more definite answer so pleeeeeeeease don’t take this answer as 100% real fact OOC. It is purely IC and just for us here on SS in good ol’ 2083!

He paused for a moment to let all of this sink in before continuing. “Eventually, an estimated 4.6 billion years ago, a very special star was formed. One that holds 99.8 percent of our solar system's mass, is the gravitational epicenter, and without it life would be impossible. The Sun.” This was mostly review for those taking their OWLs and NEWTs, so the astronomer did not linger on this for too long. “We know today, with special thanks to Copernicus, that we live in a heliocentric universe, but ancient people did not know this and believed that everything revolved around the Earth. These ancient people would look up at the night sky and eventually noticed 7 ‘wandering stars’. Can anyone guess me what these 7 wandering stars are?
OOC: CLASS HAS OFFICIALLY STARTED!

Have your character raise their hand and answer Professor Flamsteed's question or just take a stab at it. Creative and not correct answers still receive just as much participation credit as correct ones <3
