Sheesh, these kids had a lot of questions. What did he look like, a super smart PROFESSOR? Piers cleared his throat. "That is a fine question. Let me know what you find out." AKA he didn't know, because he had never tried popping a balloon with it.

BUT THEN.......

Letting out a surprised yelp Min jumped at the sound and landed on someone's foot.
.... that happened. Hah. What timing. "There's your answer!" he said back to Caleb Newell.

"Or you could use Protego if you see it coming. Or Finite Incantatum. Or, maybe, if you were a stronger wizard, you could break free by yourself? Sort of like the kind of magic we do before we go to school and get a wand. The fun stuff we did at home." She turned looked up, not really looking at anything, more like trying to see her own thoughts, and fell silent for only a moment before she changed topics. To Peruvian Instant Darkness Powder. Or rather, as close as she could get to it without actually going out to buy some. "Can I blindfold myself and see if it works? After I successfully perform the spell with full eyesight, of course." She grinned eagerly at the prospect of a challenge.
He was pleased to hear all of the options the Ravenclaw was spouting off. She brought up some great and thought-provoking points. "Very good. I think all of those would work, depending on your strength and the focus of the caster."

Now onto her next question, "Well, remember, a blindfold would be different since it is a physical barrier between your sight and the object. Instant darkness powder isn't exactly solid, so I don't know how it would work. If you happen to have some, you can try outside of class and let me know what happens." He was interested to find out. But then again, most students didn't have that powder handy...

"Professor, assuming the object cast upon is too heavy to move, can we instead move ourselves? Like... extending use of the spell as a rope to pull ourselves up or across if the end we 'grab' is stationary? Or is the spell limited to the grab and pull action?"
Turning his attention to the next Ravenclaw, Piers nodded. "Yes, you can. Like I explained to Alexa, though, if you're relying on an object to pull yourself up, you'd need to know that is it heavy and sturdy enough to support your weight. And of course, know your own strength. It takes more strength and focus to pull yourself up than to pull a balloon towards you." Less focus meant more likely to fall back on your rear.

Well, she was excited, wasn't she? He laughed. "Sure, take as many as you want." What was he going to do with 60 balloons?

After taking a few loops around the room, Pierson was confident in his student's abilities. And they were running out of time, so they had to continue. "Alright, very good everyone! Now we're going to move on!" He jogged back to the front of the room and continued, "First, tie your balloon to your wrist. Second, make sure you leave with it because I don't want them. But before you leave, we have one final activity and if you want some good house points, I suggest you do it."

Waving his wand towards the closet by the chalkboard, Piers opened the door and out levitated several pans of CAKE. Small cakes, but cakes nonetheless. Chocolate cakes, white cakes, pink cakes, yellow cakes, all cakes you could imagine (okay, maybe not all, but close) covered in yummy frosting and sprinkles.

"You will all need a partner. You will be playing tug o' war with a cake, using the spell we just learned. To do so, you will both need to use the spell at exactly the same time. Use your focus and your strength to pull that cake towards you while your partner tries to do the same. The only rule is that you must stay stationary. Do NOT move your feet. Once the cake is within reach, you GRAB that cake and you eat it because that's your glory prize and you deserve it, alright?" He almost felt like he was giving a pre-game pep talk or something. "The cakes are charmed to hover at this height, until another charm is used on them. So once you start your magic, be careful not to drop it." Man, he had done a lot of hover charms for this class. He just wanted to eat one of those cakes now.

"Everybody pick a partner and a cake! Begin!"

OOC: OKAY. You can do this. It'll be FUN. Just take turns making posts with your characters focusing and using their magical and physical strength to pull the cake towards them. You may have to discuss with your partner OOC and figure out who is going to win. Play nicely! Remember, this should be fun. No one HAS to win. Drop your focus, drop your cake, get cake-smacked in the face, hurl the cake at somebody, start a food fight, knock yourself out (not literally (unless it's IC)). HAVE FUN!

You must make a minimum of three posts EACH. You have until Sunday 5 AM (GMT). That's about... 52 hours? PLENTY of time, but I'm giving you extra because there's a Quidditch game tomorrow.
