Laughter and chatter of little voices filled the air, mixed with that of adults. Glasses were raised, dinner was served, and many praised the photographs of the orphan children decorating the walls.

Lydia couldn't stop smiling even if she'd wanted. The children's Christmas party had turned out even better than she had expected.

Her head turned, feeling as if she were being watched. Her smile only brightened when she caught Orlando, standing in a doorway, staring back at her. "Here you go," She said softly to one of the children, passing along a present before going to stand with him.
