The professor woman said she wasn't lazy and Amara just had to disagree hadn't she? Well the woman was going to make them all use their spell casting talent..ahem..ability to clean up her classroom.
There were the usual spells..the one she heard recently from the hanging out guy. HEH. She raised her hand high. "There's Scourgify... we use it often..basic" Yeah, her mother did. And no, she did not. "Then, there is....uhm..." she paused. She wasn't very good at remembering funny names. YES, I can remember Knocks. "...Tergeo..?" she said, rather uncertain. Terge-aw? Terrabooo? NO NO. It was alright. "Yeah, tergeo..that one cleans up just anything" It did. Memories of Katya being victim to the spell flashed before her. Funny those, they always made her laugh.
But no laughing in this class. There was a special class for that in Hogwarts. Any guesses? Huh? "Well, we could always use Professor Airey's Vacavus one!" Now THAT was an exciting one. TAP. TAP and SWIIISH. Everything was sucked by the black hole. "It's a very useful one.." Maybe she didn't know. Quote:

Cleaning charms? O___________o
Well... Kahlan had absolutely no clue about any cleaning charms because at home she didn'tneed them! Because her family could actually afford house elves. However, thankfully the Slytherin had gone to Astronomy and currently that was the only spell that came to mind that could count as a cleaning charm, after all she had spent hours running around vacuuming up the dust and any other things around the castle. "Well... Professor Airey taught us a spell in astronomy... um... vacavus" she finally managed to remember, reminiscing on how she'd had to give up Steve, and after all their hard work.
It was heart breaking really! Oh, good these students had already learned something useful this year. Even from the nutcase that was the Astronomy professor. "Vacavus," she repeated with a nod and the piece of chalk wrote the word down on the board. "To suck up dirt, very good." She just hoped none of them tried to actually create a black hole.

His mother had a house elf that she rarely used. Why couldn't he just bring him to school and the elf could do all his cleaning for him. This boy was lucky Ivy didn't hear what he chose to mutter under his breath. "Tergeo," she repeated, and it was written down on the chalkboard. But, sigh, he had to ask questions. "If we hired new house elves, you wouldn't learn anything. Focus on charms, please." Quote:

Of course Nicola knew that the house at her home were obviously fond of Scourgify..as well as Tergeo..But did she really want to answer this woman's question, after her utter harsh manner in telling someone to sit?
...Not really..
But force of habit would made Nicola speak in a sort of snippy tone, "Tergeo.."
UGHHHH! How she really wanted her hair brush right now! Ivy was waiting for her to mouth off to her or something, but was pleased when she did not. Good for her. Although she would have loved taking house points. ”I’m choosing to ignore your tone of voice. Tergeo is correct.” She silently dared her to keep it up.

He saw a few of the dust explosions that were happening around him, and he sat backwards immediately, bracing himself. That was kinda uncalled for. Quote:

Daichi didn't like cleaning, nor did he want to learn any cleaning spells because he already knew a few of them. The smile that was usually on the Prefect's face was replaced with a scowl as he looked around. Seriously? they were going to clean again?
Seriously?! "Scourgify" he said with a dead-pan look. He didn't even want to give a *out of the box* answer. Sorry new Professor. Quote:

On onto cleaning charms. Nigel raisded his hand and answered. "Well, There is The Cleaning Charm. I don't know the incantation though."
Cleaning charms were very useful. Quote:

Another one had ice cream on the side of her mouth. Ice cream....ICE CREAAAAAAAAM. Okay, this was not a normal behavior of a seventh year but he instantly gained some kind of energetic feeling. He craved for that ICE COLD YUMMY TREAT.
..........was this guy turning into a firstie again?
Anyway, before he could convince himself to storm out of the room and zoom off to the kitchen to eat ice cream, his attention was gotten when the Professor began to begin the lesson.
Cleaning spells....the seventh year just knew it. Hah. So they did need the students to clean the castle. Good job, Hogwarts. Good job. Next thing you know, the students would be morphing into house elves. Yayyyy. NOT.
He heard someone mumble. Hm. Someone's not too happy about entering Charms class today. Zeke smirked from his seat as he tried to get a look on whose mouth those words came out from. His head turned a little to see the boy just behind him. Eying his robes, 'Gryffindor.' Must be tough on the kid to be greeted with this unfortunate sight of Hogwarts. As he further observed the little guy, 'First year.' Definitely. He hasn't seen him anywhere yet. So it's either a first year or some tiny second or third year. It's a shame Zeke hasn't seen him around that much. This seventh year had to pay more attention to his fellow lions. "Scourgify," he said after he raised his hand. Plain answer, he heard it from others as well. But why not? It was the simplest cleaning spell. He even shot Amara a grin from across the room. Zeke was pretty smug about showing her that spell just days ago when she fell into the mud puddle. Good Gryffindor girl. Very good.
Again, he just listened to others fire away with their own answers from who knows where they got them. They were pretty sensible though. Oh well. Scourgify's all the answer you'll get from this boy. At all the students who gave the simple and standard answer of Scourgify, Ivy nodded. "Scourgify, also known as the cleaning charm, very good." Again, standard, and not very impressive coming from the older students, but she would take it.

Was that one already mentioned, he wasn't sure.. he was far too distracted by the dust creeping up his nose. No more sneezing.. please. "Yes, I suppose if you were lazy. And the lesson started... he wanted to GROAN at 'cleaning' spells. He thought he'd be learning magic in here, not bloody house-work. Looking out of the window for a moment to think, he raised his hand. "House elves' cleaning spells--" which he didn't know any, because he had YET to see one. Hopefully, professor wouldn't notice his incomplete sentence. More about house elves, of course. Ivy waited as the boy paused... and then never finished her sentence. "Yes..?" It wasn't exactly a cleaning charm, but it was a charm that made something look better in a room that needed it. So it could go along with cleaning. Well Minerva felt so anyway. Hmmmm... "I suppose... It's a bit of a stretch, since painting isn't cleaning, but good effort." She tried and thought out of the box, though, so she couldn't disagree. Quote:

She raised her hand to give it a try. "Professor, I know those others are more common cleaning spells, but what about the fire spell Incendio? Only to be used in certain situations of course, but it could be used to burn up small piles of dust or burn non-toxic items in a bin." Had she known a spell to make things smell nicer or to provide a blast of air to blow bad smells out of the window, she'dve suggested that, but for now she hoped fire would do. ........ Well. There was that. "I commend your creative thinking, as this could be useful in some situations. Just be careful with what you want to burn and be sure not to do so around other flammable objects." And not in her classroom. Quote:

Alexa was so fixated with what just happened that she nearly missed the woman's question. Even after she heard it she was still imagining the faint BOOM. Slowly her hand rose but she wasn't all that much paying attention anymore, naaaah, something else would blow up soon, she was hoping for it. "I know this isn't a cleaning spell Professor but could Aguamenti be considered. It'd be useful for getting muddy things washed off if you use it right or for something as simple as filling a basin so you can get stuff washed in it." Also, what else was rigged. She HAD to know. ... Merlin’s beard. She certainly wasn’t this full of energy when she had her kneazle dangling from 15 feet in the air last time they had met. ”No,” Ivy said flatly. They were NOT learning how to blow things up for this lesson. Why was she so excited about this? Ugh children.
Sigh, yes, moving on. ”Aguamenti, good.” Moving on. Quote:

As the temporary professor told her to put her robe back on or leave, Sky just sat there and quirked up a brow. Nope, not putting the robe back on, nor was she leaving. Miss Ivy Knox was just going to have to suck it up. Though she did offer up a suggestion. "Wouldn't it be easier to learn the spells if we're not all dust covered? Oh, and Scourgify is one." There, couldn't get her for not paying attention, because she'd just proved she was. Ivy watched this girl as she stared at her. As she didn’t do what she told her to. She did not like her tone. ”Excuse me, I told you to go retrieve your robe and put it on or return to your common room. You will lose five points for not doing either. Now make a decision or I will make one for you and I don’t think you will like it.” Ivy Knox was not a patient person. Quote:

The Hufflepuff slowly opened her eyes and examined herself, her robes weren't too dust-full but from her neck up it was difficult to find a dot of untouched skin.
Blaa Shmaaa blaaa. She was NOT listening and for one reason only, being that she was irritated beyond the point of keeping calm any longer. Her throat wanted to let out a screech and it was really hard for the frustrated red head not to. "I.will.not.screech.I.not.screech." She mumbled quietly then actually listened to what the Professor was going on about.
She raised her hand to one. Answer. two. She needed to screech, it was growing inside her throat. "Professor it may be transfiguration but would we be able to use Piertotum Locomotor on a mop and get it to clean for us?" Logical right...but enough of logic. SCREECHING WAS NEEDED "And may I please be excused for a moment?" Because she had the consideration not to break the whole entire classes ears. Ivy kindly ignored whatever the silly Hufflepuff was mumbling to herself. It didn’t seem to pertain to her question. The girl answered, though, and Ivy nodded. ”Yes, that is transfiguration, but for the sake of cleaning, that would work.” She was just about to turn her attention elsewhere when... wait, she wanted to be excused? Ivy stared at the girl for a moment. She wasn’t bleeding or vomiting, so... ”No.” And she turned her attention elsewhere. Quote:

If you had a really big mess or something," and you could easily say this room was a big mess, "you could make it smaller and then it'd be easier to clean." This was also a clever answer. After all it was obviously used for cleaning right? "We also have Scourgify and the Skurge charm as well" she offered the ectoplasm cleaning spell as a possible cleaning spell. Because obviously that worked. "And what about Waddiwassi? Or does that just shoot gum out of the wand..." she stopped after her outburst of giddy possible answers - more like questions.
The eager Ravenclaw was eager to clean. Ivy blinked a few times. ”The first three, yes. Waddiwasi would be completely counterproductive.” At least she was half paying attention..? Quote:

He took careful note of the spells mentioned, many of which they'd already learned. Or which he already used to keep his room and things tidy. He was a Branxton after all, and tidiness was deeply engrained. The professor had said they should think out of the box, though, so Mo raised his hand with a new suggestion. "Perhaps Piertotum Locomotor, professor. You could animate your belongings and have them put themselves away. You might even be able to animate dirt, but I feel like that would be very difficult to control." Was he...? No, Ivy was ignoring that. This was a Branxton child. ”Piertotum Locomotor is considered to be transfiguration, Mister Branxton, but it would indeed be helpful. Animating dirt however, might end up being more messy than helpful.” She was almost tempted to make him try it. Quote:

We can use it in the kitchen so the dishes can clean themselves. Not that we have real plates and utensils or cups, but on like, pots and stuff Toddles uses to cook." Because it appeared he was the only elf left.
Finishing what she had to say, Peyton took a deep breath and lowered her arm and leaned back on her seat. She was ready for more questions. She could hardly believe how chipper some of these students were, especially after receiving a face full of dirt. Ivy raised an eyebrow at the excited girl. ”Yes...” She was fairly certain she just said the dishwashing spell, but she had spoken so fast, it was hard to be sure... Quote:

Also, "...I guess you could also cast something on someone who's walking inside with muddy shoes or something of the like, that'll probably teach them to clean themselves up a lot more," she said, nonchalantly, as she shrugged.
Was she suggesting jinxes, hexes and curses? Yes. But there were also charms, surely. Ah, yes, she was waiting for this one. ”Perfect. This would be good to use after rinsing something off with Aguamenti”
Once all the answers had been given and repeated and stretched until they were hardly relevant, Ivy put the chalk back down onto the tray. ”Very good input, everyone, thank you.” Time to move on. ”Now let’s move on to our first activity. Whether you like it or not, this classroom and parts of Hogwarts are still dirty and need cleaning attention. Right now, we’re going to review our basic cleaning charms, since most of you should know them by now. The most basic cleaning charm is, of course, Scourgify. To perform this charm, simply point your wand at the target you wish to clean and say ’Scourgify’. I know all of you know this, so we won’t spend too much time on it.” ”The first spell you will be learning today is a simple, but effective polishing. This young man mentioned the charm to polish metal,” Ivy gestured towards West Odessa, ”However, today we will be using ’Poliotus’.” Ivy turned around and picked up the piece of chalk and wrote down on the board: Poliotus poh-lee-OH-tuss ”This polishing spell works for just about everything else, nonspecific. Wood, leather, linoleum, etcetera. Today, after you clean your desks, you will polish them using this new charm.” Ivy dusted off her hands and walked over to her desk and pulled out her wand. "To perform this charm, you will say the incantation while slowly moving you wand over the target in an 'S' shape. For example... Poliotus." Ivy spoke the incantation clearly, drawing a large 'S' shape over the surface of her desk. In a matter of seconds, the wooden surface was shiny, smooth, and good as new.
Ivy holstered her wand and returned her attention the students. ”So, first things first. Clean your desks using Scourgify, then polish them using Poliotus.” OOC: You can do this in just one post, use two if you need to. You'll earn the same amount of points. Lesson will continue... sometime tomorrow. <3 |
