Carter thought about the question for a few seconds. He wanted to give a truthful answer. Which apparently meant he was going to run through a list of possible scenarios before answering... as if each he'd be called out on it later if something did happen if he made it on the board.

"If it were a personal situation, however, that may be a different story. I guess it... would depend on what was going on. If it were a family emergency, then, I'd like to handle that. Of course, that doesn't mean I wouldn't think of whatever was going on at the school. I just think if my family, or my friends, or, more importantly, my lovely wife, needed me, that's where I'd be." And Destiny wasn't even here so no brownie points for him. But it was an honest answer that the former Gryffindor could be proud of.

"And then as soon as I was able to, I'd join with the other Governors discussing what would be in the best interest for the school and the students." Hypothetically speaking, if he was on the board, of course. "I also think, if something like that were to happen, I'd still be in the loop and aware of the situation because letters and visits could be made. So, I have confidence in my ability to not loose focus if I had have a personal emergency."
