| Q1 Ability is nothing without Opportunity | | Creativity is Intelligence having FUN Corin made his way up the stage and settled into his seat. There was a certain familiarity to this setting... when Greingoth was first sworn in as Minister, after all the hoopla that was the Cult. And as he scanned the crowd there were some familiar faces-- co-workers from the days that he worked here. That almost felt like ancient history. SPOILER!!: Rae Quote:

She opted not to shoo the man away with a casual flick of her hand, instead choosing to lift her chin and address the gathering audience as the candidates took their seats.
"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. My name is Cassandra Rae-Branxton, and I am the President of the Board of Governors. I'm joined here today by several employees from the Ministry of Magic to moderate tonight's debate. Each candidate will respond to up to 9 questions at their own pace and in their own time, as we recognize that rapid fire questions don't suit everyone. Each candidate should answer the question as fully as possible; brevity is sometimes a virtue, but it can also make some look as if they don't have a sufficient answer. We ask candidates to hold off on responding to each other until they have answered all of their questions. The other moderators and I will take turns asking questions prepared by ourselves or submitted by a panel of concerned parents and community members."
The former Headmistress glanced at the cards in front of her for a long moment, gathering her thoughts before she turned a smile on the candidates gathered there. "You're all doing very well, and I can't wait to hear from you. Don't be nervous. Our first question of the evening is directed to all of you, so pleased step forward to the front of the stage to answer when you're ready and then take your seat again when finished. If you need more time, you can answer as quickly or slowly as you wish... don't be intimidated if your compatriots get ahead of you. This first question should be easy, as it's something you've been considering since you first tossed your hat in the ring so many months ago: Why do you feel you are more qualified for this position than the other candidates? We want to hear about what sets you apart from the crowd." OOC: You're all on your own timeline here, and we won't wait for everyone to respond before providing new questions to those who are waiting. Please pay attention to YOUR questions, because they will be individualized very soon! You need to answer an average of one question per day to get to all of them, although if you answer faster, you get to respond to the answers of those who came before you - which is pretty exciting debate stuff! Good luck, have fun, be nice or we'll FROWN AT YOU SEVERELY. But now the debates were starting and Corin clasped his hands in front of him. His lips wrinkled to the side as he pondered the first question, mulling the answers in his head, which unfortunately didnt give him much chance to listen to the other candidates' replies. Not that it should matter much to him really, as this was a question about what he thinks sets him apart, not to answer something different for the sake of it. “Well... I suppose if anyone wanted advice on how to handle premature greying I can probably answer it best than the rest of my esteemed colleagues...” he glanced back at the stage to where the rest of the candidates are seated. Really it did set him apart, quite literally even. “But really I’d rather not bore you all with my lengthy resume or scholastic history....” because they could just read that somewhere right? Really he isn’t one for overly repeating himself “... but I’d rather talk about what I can offer if and when you entrust me enough with this position. I’ve had a lot of experience dealing with different sorts of people in situations both peculiar and mundane....” those peculiar moments though, they’re a whole story unto itself “... so I suppose that distinguishes me in my ability in handling different personalities, different situations where those different personalities think and react in various ways, some predictable, others—not so much.” the difficult... the special cases. And wasn’t he the go to man about special cases? “And given the variety of what I’ve handled it has honed my ability to see things from different angles, find the middle ground, come up with solutions that for the most part, keeps most people happy.” he gave a bit of a modest shrug, was that skill set so rare? He was told it was, but to him it was second nature “So given my experience in the workforce I can certainly see how those skill sets can be beneficial when applied to an educational setting.” |
