Board of Governors, half these people? Right. "The question I pose to you is: If you were to be elected onto the board, what would you ensure becomes a priority as far as the long term plans of the Board are concerned?" OOC: This is the third question and should only be answered by those who have answered the first two. Gavin Issacs. Althea made a mental note of the man's name. One of Izzy's wasn't he? Department of Mysteries - yes. He just confirmed it. She listened to the question which really she'd already touched on today.
She stood up all the same, addressing the question as important even if whoever had asked it could have found out what her priorities were by picking up any copy of the Daily Prophet from the last seven months, even if they hadn't attended any of the events or listened to her. "If I am elected, the long-term plans I would like to ensure are a priority include a focus on higher education, and on the opportunities students need so they may continue learning after their time at Hogwarts is up. I want to see the option for work experience for students across various fields, and highlight more than just those jobs that make young people starry-eyed. There are so many possibilities out there, so many amazing things to learn and interesting vocations to pick up. I would encourage easier channels from Hogwarts to Wizarding University, more scholarship opportunities, apprenticeships, and equal opportunity training for those who show an interest or affinity for more obscure subject matter like Alchemy, Ghoul Studies, Wizarding Archaeology, Nundu hunting, Spell invention and engineering, Magitoxicology, Wizoceanology, Magical Mechanics, Broom design, Magical plumbing, among many many others, and including topics which aren't necessarily touched on in the regular curriculum." It was a fairly exhaustive list and she'd only named a few from the top of her head. "I believe it is important that we prepare our students, our children, our future, to become successful and contributing members of the world at large, and education is the key to that. Not forced upon students, but provided as an opportunity for those who wish to take it, for those who need to learn how to turn an 'I can't' into an 'I can'. Thank you." No need to reiterate anything else.
Higher Education. Further study. Magical Apprenticeships. Opportunity. These things had been her passion from the get go. Safety? Security? More of a short-term priority in her eyes. That was far more immediate. No, her goals were far-reaching.
