This got her thinking. How did everyone else know the answer anyway?

Was it like...lying around in a book somewhere?--That wasn't it, was it? If so then that would be terrible! Putting something in a book increased the chances of her not finding it!!

They were all waaaay over her head and Ellura had no idea what they all meant. AND no clue as to what particular number Professor Hadley was thinking of as she posed her latest question for the class. Maybe she should really stick to words instead of numbers. Too late for this class, the Gryffindor simply staying quiet herself, waiting and listening to see the guesses the other students gave and the answer that the professor herself would no doubt reveal in the end.

He squinted at the professor and remained silent. Hmmmmm.

Josephina's hazel eyes wandered around the room as she glanced from student to student. A few young ones were quiet, but that was okay and perhaps to be expected. She hadn't exactly told them to read a certain chapter in the textbook before the lesson.

Couldn't hurt to try.

He raised his hand. "Is it the life path number? That one is pretty important," he said with a shrug. Weren't they all important though? Meh.

"Professor Hadley, I also think it'd be the Life Path Number. That one relates to things like your talents and abilities and what you should pursue which says a lot about you, I think."

Ah, an interesting guess this one was, which seemed to be on many student's minds. She HAD made a big deal about this number in past lessons. "The life path ..... good choice.... It does work in conjunction with a number calculation that reveals the true you." But did not, by itself reveal such information.

Raising her hand she said the only NUMBER that she thought was significant and all, "The number seven?" Of the life path number... as the others were saying. She had no idea. She disliked Divination as well as Arithmancy and personally found BOTH subjects to be useless... yet here she sat. BAH!
Well this answer was a more practical answer, in a sense, of guessing an actual number rather than a number calculation. "The number seven of what calculation though?" Fina countered. She, herself, had a couple calculations that resulted in that number. "Because it a particular number calculation that reveals information about a person's true self." Not quite the actual number. Perhaps that would clarify it some?

"Ah. The expression number!" Fina beamed at the Gryffindor. "Another good guess. Another one that works in conjunction with the number I am looking for..."

"Sorry about that..."...because the Captain felt the need to apologize for his lack of knowledge.

Merlin, he hadn't been in the lesson a full hour yet and his head was already pounding. Gah...Hadley was asking about a calculation that would be prioritized. Erm....Dylan was definitely drawing blanks. Naturally, he said the first thing that came to mind. "Karmic numbers, ma'am?" Karma...

He liked to think he knew a little something about it.
"Karma..." Fina seemed to ponder this suggestion a moment. "One reaps what one sows .... not quite necessarily the true you though..." It kind of could be though, in a sense. A loose sense.

SPOILER!!: Maturity numbers ... Pity that we're not a Legilmens *eyes Erik*

Alyssa thought to herself as she hurriedly wrote down what Professor Hadley was telling them and at the same time tried to figure out which number calculation would be the most important and needed to be included.

Alyssa thought for awhile before raising her hand and hazarding a guess....again.

"Professor, is it the Maturity Number? I mean it is a combination of the Soul, Destiny and Personality Number working together with the Life Number. So it basically covers your destiny, plus who you are and what you will be."

'Hey if I knew everything about Arithmancy, I wouldn't be in this class now. Alyssa thought to herself, hoping that her answer at least made sense even if it was wrong.

So... a true analysis of a person's identity, huh?

As her classmates gave their answers, Beezus skimmed through the textbook in front of her. Professor Hadley required that they bring it with them, so why not use it? "Personality Number?....No, no..it's external image.." More page flipping. "The Birth Day Number what one needs in life to achieve their destiny so it isn't this one too." She muttered to herself before reaching a certain heading on the book. The Maturity Number. With her eyes, the brunette quickly read through its definition and after a short while, she raised her hand. "I believe you're talking about the Maturity Number, Professor?" Pause. "It shows how your Soul Number, Destiny Number, and Personality Number work in concert with you Life Path Number to reveal the true essence of who you are." They were going to get to know themselves? .....She needed that.

And finally! Whether it was just that these few students actually knew this or that they listened to their peers and something triggered in their minds, Fina did not know. "Yes. The Maturity number!" Maturity, an overrated icon, but the maturity number, was not. "This number calculation is interesting because although it only is the sum of two numbers, it shows how all four of your core numbers work together."

Fina looked around the semi-circle and noticed a few confused faces when she mentioned the core numbers. "The core numbers are the very heart of any Arithmancy analysis."

"Before we begin today's class activity, we have to know how to calculate a few numbers. If you look to chapters six, seven, eight, and eleven in your textbooks there are four number calculations described in each of those chapters. Tell me one of the four and how to calculate it."
