Not something she liked doing thank you very much so she would pretend it was perfectly normal.

"Hello Professor!" Her eyes glanced briefly at the desks...none of them had candy on them...didn't the woman think they might have liked a welcome back to school present. Chocolate frogs were perfectly acceptable and in fact some Professors already had that inspired idea. "How was your summer?" because, she did care about the answer; the child could be sincere at times.

But the smile quickly left her face when she saw the note on the board. The lesson hadn't even started yet but she was already not understanding. With a heavy sigh she took a seat riiiiiiight at the front where she would be sure to not miss anything and got out some parchment; at least she understood that part of the note.
Well this was a surprise; first one to enter her classroom was a familiar second year Gryffindor. No hard feelings over the start of last term then?

"Hello, Alexa! Welcome back!" She beamed, as she watched the second year look over the desks scrutinizing them. Had she done something wrong with the desk arrangement? Was one of them off skew a little? "My summer was relaxing, yes, thank you for asking."

Oh! And hope Pao is doing well." Cause she missed the little guy, in case that wasn't apparent.

She then headed for a seat in the middle of the semi circle, plopping down before giving Lex a small smile and a wave. Reaching into her bag, Ella pulled out her quill, parchment, and text book, organizing them neatly on her desk. Right. Now she was ready for class.
"Hello, Ella!" She said back to the Hufflepuff. Oh, she asked about her nephew. "Pao is doing well, yes. He's glad to be home though, but rumor has it, he's going to miss playing Quidditch here." Why wouldn't he? He was one of the best keepers in the school last term.

When she waved, Belle sat down in her desk. She got out some parchment and quills and ready to start the task. She sat up in the front to learn the lesson better.
Aw! Her prefect HAD told her she was going to attempt Arithmancy this year. Good for her, accepting the challenge in her final year. "Hello, Annabelle! Welcome!" She beamed at the girl. "I'm glad you came." Because hopefully this would be a good lesson for her.

No. The napping was saved for Muggle Studies, always. "Hullo, Professor Hadley. I hope you had a lovely summer and all," she greeted when she entered the classroom. What did professors even do over the summer? Plan lessons, probably. There wasn't anything better to do for them, what there?

After offering Hadley a smile— she even got a SMILE, she was so lucky, see?— Alice went and flopped down in the middle of the room. Numbers and Grammatica? What, even? Was that one of her textbooks? Sure enough, when the fourth year peeked into her bags, she found one labeled with the same name. Tugging it out of her bag, along with parchment and a quill, she set the things on her desk and STARED at Hadley.

Tick, tock. Were they going to start soon?
"Hello, Alice!" she said, beaming at the Gryffindor and her new badge she obtained over the summer. She had developed an appreciation for the sport over the last few years. "Congrats on Gryffindor Captain, by the way." Just hopefully it wouldn't affect her Arithmancy grades, because the girl possessed a decent aptitude for the subject.

"Hello, Professor Hadley"

Nigel then looked and read the sheet of paper. Which basically just told him to take out a quill, parchment, and his textbook. He was going to do those anyway. So Nigel went to a empty seat in the semi circle and sat down. He took out the quill, parchment, and textbook. Once everything was out. He started to daydream until something interesting happened or class started. Which ever came first.

"Hello Nigel! Nerida!" Fina greeted as two Ravenclaws entered the room next. Yay for more people!

Forget it. Arithmancy was scary now even if the numbers were just trying to test her brain cells. But, of all, she didn't hold grudges against Professor Hadley. She was an awesome professor who was skilled in the field she taught. This term, Kat made a note to do better in the class cos OWLs were nearing and she hadn't made progress. Not at all. MEH.

When the Slytherin entered the room, she first sent a smile straight at the Professor. She had to act happy for... reasons. Heartaches. "Good day, Professor Hadley," she greeted. "I bet you had a splendid summer, yes?" Then Kat's eyes fell on the board in front. Oh, they had an assignment this early in the course of the lesson. *derp* She sat down on her usual seat and took some parchment out of her bag... and also her quill and ink well and book.

.. And now we wait.
Another returning face! Returning faces were always a good thing. "Good day, Katrina," she replied. "It was pretty splendid, yes, spending time with family and all." Something she didn't take for granted now that she was closer to them geographically again. Though she was a bad sad that Pao hadn't continued, but he would do well at his new school....

So there she was, making her way down from the seventh floor to the second when the time was right for the lesson. The notice having been placed up on the bulletin board to announce it. Coming to the correct classroom, Ellura stepped inside and took notice of the room. A few students were there already as well as the woman she took to be the professor. At least she had seen her up on the staff dias rather than the candidate table.

"Hello Professor," she greeted with a polite smile as she made her way further inside, taking a seat at an empty desk. Following the request, the Gryffindor took out her borrowed textbook as well as parchment and quill, quite prepared for the class to begin.
And a new student. Who seemed slightly hesitant about being here. Hopefully she wouldn't be by the end of the term. "Hello dear," she replied politely back. "Welcome to Arithmancy."

"Hello Professor. It is good to be back in your class again." Alyssa said with a smile. She then turned around and finding an empty desk, sat down and pulled out her journal and writing materials and placed them on the desk in front of her. Then she pulled out her textbook, opened it and began reading it while waiting for class to start.
"Hello, Alyssa! Glad you think so!" Fina smiled, nodding at the sixth year. Hopefully some of those who were new and unsure would see the enthusiasm from the returning students?

The girl took a seat in a random place, pulled the book, parchment and quill out of her bag and kicked her legs slightly, waiting for class to start.
Oh. There was a student she missed last term. She was pretty sure Sophie had been in her lessons before, but had taken a year off, for some reason? "Hello, Sophie! Welcome back to Arithmancy!"

And there was one Greingoth .... the male one .... the Hufflepuff one. So where was the other one, because no doubt the Slytherin Prefect WOULD be in attendance? "Hello Alex!" She said to the cheerful male "sibling", as he made his way towards the back.

PFFFFT. The ginger SERIOUSLY doubted that she would ever use this wishy washy nonsense in her life. EVER. Yet, here she was entering the room and nodding toward the Hugglepuff Professor. "Good day, Professor." That was it by way of greeting. Indeed. She was still convinced this lady professor GAVE AWAY points to her precious Hufflepuffs so they could win the cup last term. OF COURSE SHE NEVER LET ANY OF THIS SHOW. Instead she gave a bright smile as she looked around the room and made her way to the semi circle ROW thingy furthest from the lady professor woman. MHM.
Oh yay! Another new Arithmancy student, who from the look of things was another new older student, like Annabelle. Except this one she didn't know, sadly, except that she was in Ravenclaw. Giving the girl a bright smile, she nodded at her. "Good day and WELCOME to Arithmancy!" Because she was happy for all new students attempting the class. Anyone who attempted at least one Arithmancy lesson during their time at Hogwarts was good in her mind.

Another new student. Another hesitant one. She gave him a comforting smile. "Good morning and welcome to Arithmancy, dear." Hopefully she would turn that frown upside down by the time the year was through in his thoughts about the subject.

"Hi, Professor," she greeted the woman behind the desk before taking the nearest empty seat in the middle semi-circle row. She plopped her bag down beside her and pulled out the required materials and set them on the desk. Now...to wait.
"Hello Penelope! Welcome back!" She said to the young Gryffindor as she took a seat somewhere in the middle.

Atticus had been looking forward to getting to sit in on a Hogwarts lesson. It had been years since he had had them - since he had had any classes really, as university was quite a number years ago too - so it should be interesting. Arithmancy had never been his best subject while at Hogwarts, but that was also part of the reason he looked forward to this. He could find out whether a different professor's teaching style, especially someone who had been a classmate from his Hogwarts days, would improve the subject's appeal and interest.

Entering the classroom, he smiled to see there were already a number of students in their seats. That was good. And there was Fina behind her own desk, who seemed to be writing on some parchment. Whatever it was, he wouldn't disturb her for long. A simple greeting to let her know he was here and then he would head over to one of the chairs he noticed were available.

"Good day, Fi- Professor Hadley," he corrected himself quickly, though still smiling kindly. Best to keep it formal and professional, no? "I hope you do not mind me sitting in on your lesson today." Given the extra chairs, it was perhaps safe to assume she didn't, but it was still nice to be polite. Then with another polite smile and a nod, he let her get back to her writing and headed for the chairs, waving slightly to Penelope when he spotted her and she him. Good to see her in the lesson. He then took his seat.
And shortly after the Gryffindor entered and took her seat, a man followed in and made his way up to her desk. She looked up from her parchment and her cheeks may have flushed slightly when the very familiar former classmate of hers almost used nickname. Yes she knew she might have visitors sitting in on her lesson, but she totally did NOT expect it to be him. But she was an adult and she would not refuse him just because he was good looking and posed a distraction.

"Atti - I mean Mr Aldredge," she said, smiling warmly at the former Department Head and Ravenclaw. "No, no, of course I don't mind. I'll even try to go slowly for your behalf," she added the last comment as an afterthought, with an almost sly smile. Yes, she knew numbers weren't necessarily his strong point while they were students, but he wasn't half-bad either.

Heading into the classroom, she took notice of how the room was arranged and scoped out a good spot, before heading in completely.

"Good day, Professor," she smiled as she settled into her seat in the front and read the board. It was all right there and she pulled out all her needed supplies.

Parchment, check.
Quill, check.
Numerology and Grammatica, check.

Yup, she was ready now.
"Good day Lana," Fina said to the Ravenclaw Hyde sister.

Anyway, that had nothing to do with Arithmancy. Nope, nope. Arithmancy was numbers and stuff. So she had to get her head into the proper mindset for numbers. Walking into the classroom, she grinned at Professor Hadley and said nicely, "Morning Professor Hadley. How was your summer?" Good she hoped.
Oh and Selina had even made it to her class too?! Yes she had seen the now Head Girl in Arithmancy before, but in the past she'd always had Kurumi by her side to help with questions on the numbers.

"Morning Selina. Welcome back! And congratulations on your new badge, by the way." Oh, she'd asked her a question. "My summer was fine thank you." And she didn't need to ask Selina about her summer; getting a shiny new badge over the summer was enough to make it good, yes? Probably.

Entering Professor Hadley's classroom, the Slytherin found his seat quickly. No need to mess about. Besides...for whatever reason, this woman made him extremely uncomfortable. It was not something that could easily be explained...

When he spied the board, the Captain fished down into his bag; Parchment, quill and ink, and his textbook. All things that joined each other on his desk. Hmm...Promising start, yes. What would they be doing today?

"Professor Hadley." Yes, it was a greeting...because Dylan really didn't feel comfortable saying anything else.
And now two captains in her class; yay for Quidditch fanatics taking Arithmancy! Now where were Renesmee and Milton?

"Dylan. Welcome. And nice job on your OWL results." She was impressed, to say the least. Clearly dating a Ravenclaw was motivational.

"Professor Hadley," the foreigner approached her desk and interrupted her writing, not really caring that he was a bother. Observers were always a bother to professors, no? So he might as well start the bothering now. "I'll be evaluating your lesson, madame. Vhere vould you like me to sit?"
Oh no. Why did all the good-looking male board candidates have to observe her? They were so distracting. And that accent too. Oh my. Just hopefully he didn't speak much and all would be okay.

"Mr Vinteren, welcome," she said to the candidate. Because yes she'd read up on the candidates and she did know who most of them were and there weren't too many 'foreign' ones. "Of course, of course. Uh... take a seat wherever you'd like. Blend in with the students." Because it would be less distracting that way, for both her AND the students. And it would be a more fair evaluation, yes?

"Morning Professor Hadley." Paaaaaaause, "I'm West Odessa." Y'know, because he'd not been in her classes before. Probably she knew his name from Qudditch though. She watched didn't she? Beezus said before paving her way towards a seat. She badly hoped that this term numbers weren't going to give her a hard time. She'd have enough for the past terms running. In fact, she'd have probably given up on the subject if it wasn't for Kurumi Hollingberry, who, with abundant patience, had been very helpful every time she was battling with numbers.

Alas, there was no more Cookie!girl this time around.

Nope.

Heaving another sigh, Beezus read the writing on the board and did as it instructed. Parchment, book, and quill out. Now, to wait and wallow in severe self-pity. Meh.
"Good day, Beezus," She said as the new Ravenclaw Prefect made her way into the classroom, who seemed so ..... disheartened to be here? But the girl wasn't terrible at numbers.

"Welcome back. Congrats on the Prefect badge, by the way." She was proud of her. Her and Ira and Alice and yea..... so proud of all those ickles growing up who she remembered when they first came to Hogwarts (and Arithmancy) as shy little first years.

"Hello Minerva!" She beamed at the young badger ... or well, not so young now; the girl was a FIFTH YEAR?! Weird. "Welcome back, dear!"

Full house today, Hadley noticed as she glanced around the classroom. After a few more minutes of waiting for the last minute stragglers to make their way into the classroom, she rose and inconspicuously flicked her wand to shut the door.

"Hello and welcome all to another year of Arithmancy!" She began, as she stood up and walked around to the front of her desk. "Or for those of you who this is your first time attending.... I hope you will find the subject to be enjoyable and educational. For those of you have never met me before, I'm Professor Hadley," and she'd been here awhile.

"As there are quite a few new faces in here, can you all please take a piece of parchment and fold it in thirds to make a namestand for your desk? So write your names on the side facing out." Because she wanted to learn all their names.

"When you're done, please tell me, what is one thing you already know about the subject of Arithmancy?"

ooc: class has begun officially, so please do not announce your late arrival but pretend as though your character has been here the whole time unless of course you WANT to lose points
