Well if they were using the Pythagorean system. For the Chaldean it meerly moved up to the next compound number.

SPOILER!!: Redone Calculations

G-E-R-T
3+1+2+4=10
3+1+2+5=11

Reading over the new calculations, he couldn't help but groan. His life had already been tough enough and that was before he even began school, he certainly didn't need any more 'great difficulties.' It even had the mention of a lion which given his house and the house of most of his family, hit a nerve. Trying to push it aside, the prefect went to work looking up the compound numbers of his other two names seeing as Professor Hadley had reminded him that they played a part in the meanings as well. Maybe there was some good there.

Okay so his first name offered some hope in his destiny. At least the strife could be seen in the past leading to a better future. However his middle name cut away any good feelings and Gideon was really hoping that none of his meanings came through. Especially the last one...no deaths in his life other then after a ripe old life thank you. With a sigh he pushed the parchment slightly away from him trying not to appear to disgruntled. Though the sixth year was distracted enough from thinking on Professor Hadley's final question.
Noticing the Gryffindor Prefect go back and redo his calculation, Fina strode over and peeked at his parchment. And frowned. "Er. The T was correct before. T is a 4...." she said, quietly. "But it's the E. E isn't a 1." Actually, E was the same regardless of whichever system he used.

Right, so that was three things to do, and as Hadley moved on he quickly wrote a note of what he needed to do.

Meaning of the 2
Double digits for each name - 13, 18, 26, 53

But first, he spoke up super quickly, raising his hand as he did. "Oh, Professor... say someone had a really long name and it went to three digits... for the compound number would you... like... add those together?"

As he said that, he was working through the miniature to do list. One hand still in the air, Dale thumbed through to the number and quickly, though untidily, scrawled the number and meaning.

He thought that was right; it was 11 after all.

But it was as he looked through the next part and dragged his finger down the page and did the same for the compound numbers.

"... oh."

Dale stared. And staaaaaaaaared. And spoke. "Professor, it stops at 52."

Um. 'Kay then. Less work.

Oh. Right. Moving on.

Dale listened and then frowned in thought. He then seemed to get it straight away and shot his hand up in the air. "Something... um... oh. I was gonna say something that used just numbers and not words or letters but... uhh... I'm... I... yeah."

Ahem.
Before others could answer the question she posed, she heard Dale ask about a really long name. Pondering it a moment, it just then occurred to her about his name. "Um, if it went to three digits, then you'd reduce it, yes, because compound numbers refer to only double digits and up to 52."

And then, yea. It stopped at 52. Duh. She knew that, but it didn't really comprehend when she saw his initial calculations.

"Well actually, come to think of it, your surname is hyphenated, yes?" she clarified. "So technically you'd have two compound numbers within your name, but you added it all together to make one. So it'd be 22 for Ackton and then 31 for Upstead." Mmhm.

So this is what he wrote down.

SPOILER!!: Theodore's hopefully correct caluclations

WAM BAM.

Theo was proud of his extreme efforts there. Did it deserve a gold star? Yes, it most certainly did.
And there she noticed another Slytherin had just decided to start working on his calculations only now. Obviously the youngster had spotted her sheet of gold stars. Slytherins and their desire to be the best. Shaking her head, she strode over to have a peek at his numbers. "Good, good, but technically the compound numbers you should look at for the individual names. So 12 and 20. Not 14 so much, since both 12 and 20 would reduce to 3 and 2, respectively." Mhmm. But fine, the numbers were right, so the kid got a gold star on his parchment.

Huh? THIS WAS NOT GOOD! Anytime the words suffering and anxiety were involved, Ella got a bit nervous. She wished she hadn't taken Hadley's advice about looking up these individual compound numbers!

O____O Was Ella dying or something? Were her friends going to get her into trouble?! All these meanings were doing the second year's head in.

As for Professor Hadley's next question, Ella tried to shake off the nerves she now had and focus again. "Professor, I also think it's probably the birthday day number." Cause birthdays stayed the same no matter the method, yeah?
Oh.

She forgot. There were actually TWO numbers technically. "Yes, the Birth Day Number is one. But really any number that doesn't involve the interchange of letters to numbers would be the same regardless of the system. So of the core numbers," which is what she had meant. "The Life Path Number would be unchanging. Your date of birth is a constant." Unlike their names.

Right then, time was running short on them and if she kept them here any longer they would be late for their next lesson. "Alright, that's all I have for you today. If you have any further questions, you're welcome to stay after and ask me, or find me in my office or in the Arithmancy Laboratory. Or even welcome to make use of the Laboratory to further your studies. Homework will be posted outside my office by the end of the day. Class dismissed."

Flicking her wand, she opened the classroom door.
