Alyssa entered the sanctuary intending on seeing the lobalug that the Professor had found and was now in the pond out in the sanctuary. She had read up on what the creature was like in the Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them textbook and wanted to see what it actually looked like in person...or in this case...creature. She did know that the creature was venomous and would blast it's venom at the person or creature, if it felt threatened. So Alyssa decided that she was going to move very slowly and carefully when she was around it, just like she would do with a Hippogriff.

But first she needed to know what it ate. She walked over to the bins of food supplies and looked inside it. As she was doing that, she felt something squirming in her jacket pocket. She reached in and found Nerfball. "What are you doing in here Nerfball? You're supposed to be in my sock drawer right now. Did you sneak into my jacket pocket when I wasn't looking? You know that you're not supposed to be in here...well okay technically you are, but not today." Alyssa chided her Pygmy Puff. Then she remembered something. She was going to test to see whether Nerfball would eat worms, dead rats and grass. "Is this your way of reminding me Nerfball? You are a smart one...yes you are." Alyssa nuzzled his face.

"Since you're here, stay very close to me okay. I don't want you to get accidentally eaten by any of the bigger creatures here. Let's see what we have here. Worms." Alyssa was definitely glad that she had worn her gloves before entering the Sanctuary. She picked up a worm and dangled it in front of Nerfball. Nerfball took one look at the worm and squeeked,"SQUEEE....squee..." and looked away.

"Okay no worms for you. Let's see a dead rat. Somehow I don't see you eating something larger than you, but I still need to eliminate that as something you won't eat, so here it is Nerfball. Sniff it." Alyssa tangled the dead rat by the tail and showed it to Nerfball. Nerfball immediately let out a LOUD SQUEEK "SQUEEE...SQUEEE" in alarm, squirmed and crawled back into her jacket pocket. She could feel it trembling inside there. "I'm so so sorry, Nerfball. I didn't mean to scare you like that. Okay no more dead rat. The dead rat is gone."Alyssa told him immediately dropping the rat back into the bin.

"Okay let's see what else we have here. Ahhh...dead bugs. Will you eat dead bugs, Nerfball?" Alyssa picked up a small handful in one hand and pullled out Nerfball from her pocket. She offered the handful to him and waited. Nerfball stopped trembling and eyed the bugs in her hand. He stuck out his tongue and unrolled it all over the bugs, before sweeping them all up with his tongue and curled it back into his mouth. He chewed on it happily. "You like that don't you?" Alyssa smiled down at him scratching him on his belly right where he liked it. He started making a soft low hum which he always did when he was happy.

"Okay one more thing on the list. Grass." Alyssa bent down and pulled a small tuft of grass from the ground and offered it to him. He stared it for a couple of moments, sniffing it for a couple of minutes more. Alyssa was about to throw away the grass, when he unfurled his tongue and took some into his mouth. He chewed for awhile and then swallowed. Alyssa had more in her hand, but he didn't seem interested in it. "Okay so it's either you like it but you're full, or you don't like it. But if you didn't like it you wouldn't eat it, let alone swallow it. So I'll just take it as a tentative yes for now. Okay back into my pocket you go. Now please stay there, because I don't want you to startle the Lobalug in the pond. We definitely don't want it angry with us." She said making sure that he was securely hidden in her jacket pocket.

Before figuring out what food to feed the Lobalug, Alyssa pulled out the list that she and Taylor had created and completed the list.

Now that this list was completed, she kept tucked it back into her backpack and then filled up a small pail of dead bugs and made her way to the pond. She figured that since it lived in the lake like fish did, that maybe it would like the same things that fish ate. She knew that fish loved to eat bugs. She just hoped that the Lobalug would like it too and not get angry.
