In a few moments her fingers brushed against something. "I think I found one," Silvia managed to say as she stretched her fingers out, trying to grasp it. "Almost there...got it!"
She yanked her hand out, the pod between her fingers, and quickly backed up. With her cleaner left hand, she pulled out her wand and pointed it at the snargaluff just in case; not that she really knew any spells that could be used against it. "Okay, you can let go now and get away," she said.

Sierra released a little bit of her held breath when the girl claimed she thought she had a pod. Sierra jumped back a teeny tiny bit as the girl's hand was yanked from the plant. "That's..." Pause. "That's it!" she said. ...and now they were just expected to back away? ...but what if? If she backed away now, the Gryffindor would be left holding down the vines by herself. If she waited any longer, she'd be left holding down the vines by herself. That thought in mind, she released her hands and backed quickly away, staring at the plant the entire time.
Tayla waited anxiously for Silvia to pull her arms out from the Snargaluff, hoping it really was a pod in her hand.
"Great!" Tayla smiled in relief, then in a moment, realized Sierra had already let go and that the young Ravenclaw hadn't stunned the plant. Tayla felt a vine swoop past her arm and ducked when another one took a swing at her head. She let go of the vines she was holding and fell backwards as she tried to get away.
"Slytherins..." Tayla thought.
"Could have counted so we'd let go at the same time."
She was about to stand up when a vine came swinging past her again and another cut through her stocking.
"Ouch!" The Snargaluff seemed angrier than before. Thinking the young Ravenclaw didn't know what spell to use, and not willing to wait for the Slytherin to stop staring at the plant and help her, Tayla looked for her wand desperately inside her robes, took it out, and pointed it at the vines thrashing madly.
"Stupefy!" A jet of red light shot out of her wand and stunned the Snargaluff.
Tayla breathed a sigh of relief and stood up, the wound on her leg throbbing painfully.
"Thanks for the help," she said to Sierra half meaning it (the Slytherin did knot the vines) and half sarcastically, then she turned to Silvia and smiled.
"Great job, Silvia! Please give it to Professor Bentley."
