Now that she thought hard about it, advertising didn't really appeal to her. Education and Business, that was cool! And Glenn guessed she was pretty organised, with her journal and all.
With what the Professor had said about the Y maybe not counting as a vowel in her name, Glenn decided to make another calculation. She dipped her quill in some ink and started below her old calculation. No, no, no! That was not correct. "Uh-Professor? I tried taking away the Y and I came up with this?" Glenn frowned down at her journal, that couldn't be correct! She wasn't like that! "I think the Y counts, because I am NOT like that at all."
At the next instruction, Glenn looked around the room searching for a partner. She'd go with Sophie, but she seemed to be making these minor mistakes all the time. It would be cool to work with an older student, they'd know every to know about Arithmancy. Figuring she may as well check on the last few corrections people made to their soul urge or life path numbers, Josephina heard one girl complaining about how her new number didn't seem to fit her at all. Scouring her paper, she shook her head. "That's because that's not your soul urge number either..." she pointed toward an extra 5 that had appeared from her first name. "See the extra five there." She wondered if every Ravenclaw was smart at numbers, or she just wasn't one? She made a note to look at some famous Ravenclaws sometime in a book, learn more about her house, as she hadn't had much time to yet this year.
She had listened to everything Professor Hadley had told her, yet it still made no sense. Kendra picked up her quill and moved the parchment down, readying herself for another try.
Was that right? Kendra couldn't tell, but she wanted to have a go at the life path thing as well. It wouldn't hurt to try
After working it out, Kendra put her hand up, feeling relieved wanting to know if she was correct, and what it all meant. She had found it relativly difficult, but with anything, it was all trial and error until you got it correct.
ooc: What is this textbook your all referring to? I'm a little confused Seeing a hand go up, Josephina scurried toward the desk of a young claw, and looked over her parchment. The other girl had an extra five and apparently, Fina now figured out where it came from. For this one, was missing a five. "Um... your soul urge number... you missed a digit from your middle name. And your life path number, well, you miscalculated your year... so the number is slightly off." ooc: the textbook is here, which can be found in one of the "Stickied" threads in this forum. Quote:

Taking her quill again, she decided to practice a little. "I think that's correct..." Tayla thought.
Looking back at her textbook, she read what '3' meant. "A 3 year is one of the most difficult to comprehend, mainly because while the 3 is supposed to be about fun, socializing, and happiness, people often experience agonizing feelings..." Hmmm... "In a 3 year, creative juices are more freely flowing than in other years..." That sounded nicer. "More than any other year, this is the time to use your imagination!"
Tayla thought briefly about what she had just read and decided to continue with the next chapters. She read about each number and proceeded with her calculations. Tayla could show them to Professor Hadley when she needed to. "I hope I did all these correctly," Tayla thought and then raised her hand, wondering how to correctly relate all the numbers. "Professor, is there a proper way to interpret the meanings of these numbers together?" Hearing a question about interpreting the meanings, Fina now addressed the students as a whole, pleased that many have started working it out. "Technically. The personal year number has themes which focus your energies for the year. Within that year though, your personal month number will give insights as to the special opportunities and potential. And within the month, are your personal day numbers, which are significant, in particular when the number is the same as your soul urge or life path." Which is why they calculated those numbers in the beginning. Quote:

Instructions... more math! Mooore!!! Hooraaaay! Sophie didn't even look for a partner, she just pulled her book closer and faced her parchment again and started calculating.
Sophie stared at her parchment. So many small numbers! Was that even right?? She frowned and raised her hand. "Professor, is this it? Why do I only get small numbers??" "That's just the way it is on this particular day of this particular month of this year." Fina explained. "BUT the good news is that every day, your personal day number will be something different. As with next month, in November, it'll be a different personal month number. You see, what you've discovered is that you're at the start of your nine year cycle." Good time and all, considering she just began her first year of Hogwarts. "Our lives operate repeatedly on nine-year cycles, with every year having a number and each number has a meaning. This is the theme for that year, which is also your Personal Year number. The same thing happens monthly, and even daily. And after nine years, you will have finished a cycle, which signifies a certain lesson to have been learned in that time." Quote:

She raised her hand. "Professor, I already found a few mistakes! I'll recalculate and then maybe you could check them?" Then she got to work. Personal Year Number + reduced calendar month number = Personal Month Number
(7)+(10)
(7)+(1+0)
(7)+(1)
=8
Then, Ella moved on to fix her personal day number. Your Personal Day Number is found by adding the number of the calendar day to the number of your Personal Month.
(8)+(17)
(8)+(1+7)
(8)+(8)
=16
=1+6
=7
When she finished, she rechecked her work, worried she had messed it up again. Raising her hand again, she asked the professor to check her work. "Professor, I think this is right now. Do you mind checking when you have a second?" Hearing a request to check someone's work, just as she was about to move onto the next part - and final part of the lesson, she passed by the girl's desk on her way to the front and glanced over her corrections and nodded. "Yes, it looks good." "So as you all seem to have figured out how to calculate your Personal Year, Month and Day numbers... we'll just go over a bit of a review before we move onto a small activity of sorts." She paused, flipping through her notes for a moment before turning back to the class. "Right then, so the personal year number is definitely, aside from the core numbers, one of the most significant numbers in your life, considering its themes and meanings change yearly and it dictates where you should focus your energies each year." "Can someone please describe for me how to find the personal year number? And then someone else tell me how to find your personal month number? And finally, someone else describe about calculating your personal day number?" ooc: Please only give an answer about ONE of these. You may use your own calculation in effort to help explain.
