There had been a FIRE in her research shed? Was that the reason the Headmaster had mentioned the no-dying rule at the Start of Term Feast?! WHATKINDOFSCHOOLWASTHIS?! Just staring at her, he watched her mouth move but didn't actually hear what she was saying. She did look a little pale as if the memory of the fire was still a little hard for her. What had happened?!
As soon as she told them to follow her, Lewis was on his feet and dashed after her, trying to catch up with her. When she stopped he was right behind her and almost tugged her by the arm in order to get her attention. He just HAD to know. Instead raising his hand, he didn't actually wait for her to call on him but instead said - in barely more than a whisper, "Did-did somebody DIE in that fire?!" Because if the answer was yes he was going to leave RIGHT NOW!

Remembering that some students were new to the school, and had no idea what went on in these mysterious walls, Seren figured she should clarify. Not to mention the fact that the students that had been here still didn't know the full story. "No, nobody died... it was just an unfortunate incident. Last year the house elves adopted a stray baby elf... and kept this from us. Unfortunately for them the baby elf wasn't so easy to care for, he had a habit of roaming the castle and grounds and collecting items... stealing so to speak. Nevertheless, I had a tin of fire seeds in my research shed. Generally speaking, they were not a hazard, I am very careful with my belongings. The baby elf however broke in and took a liking to the tin, emptying the contents and keeping it for himself. Of course, because the fire seeds are hot, and on fire, it then set the shed on fire also..."

Moving on, Beatrice tucked a stray strand of her hair behind her ear as she listened, she did remember the accident last term that was caused by the baby elf now under the custody of Nimma but still doesn't have a name. It's intrusion in various classes clearly brought scare and panic to the students that time. And whaat? They'll be planting Fire Seed Bushes? How awesome was that? Last term toadstools, now Fire Seed Bushes. She silently wondered if Professor Seren actually wants them to get killed. Hehe.
But really it was cool! Planting..that was something she wasn't too bad at doing and what's more, they were not just going to plant ordinary plants. They were going to plant extraordinary ones! When the Herbology Professor motioned them to follow, Beezus quickly yet carefully took steps as they went deeper into the greenhouse.
Once the torches have been lit, she saw that it was just like a classroom with a blackboard and a few stools.
"Professor, does the seeds of the Fire Seed Bush err--burn or emit out flames or something?" She asked after raising her hand. That was her question before they get started. "Yes dear, the seed itself burns from the inside, and a thin layer of fire coats the outside, sort of like a skin." Quote:

Baby house elf. Kurumi should have known. At least Professor Bentley's shed had been burned down herbologically if that was even a word as opposed to, well, whatever it was that had caused the fire in Professor Lafay's storeroom. Kurumi still had no idea how that had started - besides her opening the door to it and causing a small explosion.
Patting her bag to make sure that her gloves were still in there, Kurumi eyed the Fire Seed Bush and its delicate looking flames. "Professor Bentley," Kurumi said as she raised her hand. "What would happen if the flames went out? It was mentioned that you need to use a Freezing Charm on the seeds in order to be able to handle them, but say you used a the charm on the plant itself." Like...if someone misaimed...could they accidentally kill the poor plant? Quote:

Sierra kept up with the class, following in line with the sea of students who were making their way further into the greenhouse. Questions? Nope. Not her. She did hear something, from Hollingberry nonetheless, that she thought she at least knew a little about.
She raised her hand. "Doesn't the fire seed bush have to be on fire in order to live?" Sierra asked Bentley, responding to Hollingberry but at the same time asking a question of her own. She'd known of the fire seeds being used in a potion before, and that's how she'd managed to pick up the information. "I think the plant would die if all the flames went out, so I guess it's important we don't harvest all the fire seeds at once. I think that's why we only use the freezing charm on the seeds themselves--because freezing the whole plant might kill it."

After listening to Kurumi's question, and hearing Sierra's response, she smiled and nodded. "Yes that's absolutely correct. It's important not to extinguish the flames completely.. unless you want to kill it, for whatever reason." Personally she could never bring herself to do such a thing. Quote:

Ah, question? Suddenly she just have a question.
"Professor Bentley." she's raised her right hand gentle. "I wonder what potions that use fire seed bush as the ingredients?" she asked. "They're commonly found in antidotes to uncommon poisons.. I would tell you more but I'm not a potioneer. What I can tell you though is that fire seeds are often used in potions for their energy. The powder found within the seed itself is often used to intensify the effects of potions as well as spell work and fire itself." Quote:

Research shed? Yeah.. Ira had heard about it last term. So the fire seeds were the culprit! Ira had hated to see Professor Bentley all sad after the fire, when her research notes had been burnt to ashes. So if fire seeds could set a shed to fire, weren't they considered dangerous? Ira raised her hand and asked, "Professor, can the fire seeds set fire on their own? If they can, aren't they dangerous?" And now they had to plant them!
Then according to instructions, she proceeded to the back of the cold and dark greenhouse, a little excited to plant fire seeds. Then she waited for further instructions
"They are always on fire, so you do need to exercise caution around them... but they're not out to get you, so they're not really dangerous." Unless you were an idiot and decided to give it a hug, you would survive. Quote:

She could grow her own cool and pretty and glowing Fire Seed Bush and feed her Salamanders with the seeds. D'awwwwwwww. So cute. And while daydreaming about all this happy fiery moments, the little Gryffindor was unaware that she was missing half of the what the teacher woman was telling the class now.
She was only back to class when she motioned them to follow her deeper into the place. This class was rocking!!! Fire, dark places and more fire on torches. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeey!!!! With a little happy smile, the girl's dark brown eyes shone as she watched the burning fire on the torches.
Did she have any question? Of course she had.
''Professor, what is the place of this piece of nature within the four main elements? I mean, you know; all seas, rivers, lakes belong to water quarter. Whatever in the air belong to air quarter. The sun, other stars and lawa belong to fire quarter. And, as far as i know, all plants with the crust of the earth belong to earth quarter. Yet this plant...'' she pointed the Fire Seed Bush ''...both grows on earth and is a source of fire. I am confused.''
Oohh and another good question, this time from one of her new Lion cubs. How exciting! "That's a very good question Lea," she mused brightly. "And there is no simple answer, essentially it is both. Some plants, and even animals are difficult to classify in terms of elements as they share characteristics with more then one." "No more questions?" ... good, they'd had enough time for that. If anybody thought of something they could approach her at the end of class. "Alright, so you're all aware by now that we will be planting fire seeds today. Before we get to the fun stuff, does anyone want to hazard a guess as to what care requirements we might need to consider when planting these seeds?" she asked, summoning a small cart of medium sized pots from the corner of the greenhouse. OOC: This is the last question before we start the activity. Please only state ONE care requirement ONLY. Any more than that and I will be a nasty pasty and take points. The lesson will continue in approximately 12 hours XD
NOTE: CARE not SAFETY. Please relate your answers to HOW you would CARE for the seed when planting and the planting process.
