"You mean things like underground caverns, or hidden cities? Buried treasure?" His eyes glinted as the gears turned in his head. Who knew what was down there? "Secret, hidden tunnels for transportation out of the school grounds?" Now, he knew that wouldn't have been very safe. If outsiders could enter school grounds through a tunnel in the lake, that would cause a lot of security problems. However, if it was a secret tunnel no one could locate, then it would certainly be a rumor, then, wouldn't it?

"Well I don't know about hidden cities." He shrugged. "But there are rumours about caverns annd maybe even treasure down there." The real question was treasure for WHO? He looked at William and smirked.

"Right. Really, the simplest things rumoured to be beneath the lake are water plants." Bentley would be so proud.

"Right!" Extreme nod. "The Chamber is rumoured to be underneath the lake."

Because... it was under the lake.
"...And the Slytherin Common Room." He expected the snakes to know. Though, really the common room was underneath the lake and not in it, but it worked.

"Spirits of pirates occupied it until one point they made it to the castle." Careful not to drift off in her tale-telling, and making her best not to look around at the firsties to see what her story was making to their wittle faces, Louisa went on, "That could be a proof of haunted realms deep down. Maybe more haunted boats or ships are down there." Uh-huh. He could ask Professor Vindictus, he wouldn't disagree with Louisa.
Blink. "...Oh yes, I read about that.." And recently too. "There very well could be haunted realms." Good point!

In reality he was plotting out his part of the lesson, all to eager to just dive right in already.

"They're rather indifferent to it, I think," he answered after a thoughtful, almost drowsy moment. "Merpeople have been known to come to the surface to converse with humans or attend Ministry functions, but as we all know, their language just sounds like screeches above ground."

He let out a little shrug and pushed himself up into a standing position, dusting some grass off his bum as he walked back to stand beside Dash at the front. "They can handle the sunlight but as they don't need it for any biological functions, it's probably just viewed as superfluous to them."

Will looked to Dash and nodded, handing the reigns back to him. They would be discussing merpeople in more detail soon enough. Hmm, maybe later he would even be able to ask a merperson what they thought of the sun?
Yeaaaah. Whatever the man had said. Dash just nodded, listening just slightly. It made sense. Merpeople. Not like he would understand them more than that.

Some people might be Muggleborn and not know about Hogwarts.

Vlimia knew this question off by heart. Her parents had told her both of the answers numerous times. She raised her hand as eagerly as before, and replied "The Slytherin common room is beneath the lake, accessed through an entrance in the school dungeons. Many people think their common room is actually in the Dungeons, but it is not. The Chamber of Secrets is also believed to be beneath the lake, but those are merely rumours." Vlim answered, hoping it was a sufficient answer. She also wondered when they were going to get on with Care of Magical Creatures, because, although she liked History, she wanted to see the Magical Creatures. She took a great interest in them, and had already signed up for the Magical Creatures Sanctuary thing.
What?..."You're correct to a point. The Slytherin common room is located in the dungeons, however it is also underneath the lake." Ergo, the dungeons were underneath the lake as well.

Selina rose her hand and said, "The rumor is that the Slytherin Common Room is under the black lake." Which would explain the Slytherin CRABBY attitude. Heh CRAB-by attitude. That was punny.
"Right, yes." That was the rumour.

"Could be." He doubted it. Largely because people would be attacked before they had the chance to enter.

---------------

"So, plants, rocks, caverns...maybe hidden kingdoms...treasures..and apparently the Slytherin Common Room and the Chamber of Secrets." Yeah. The lake had many rumours associated with it. "Most of these rumours have actually been proven to be true." So, you know. The scary stuff that hid in the lake, could actually be true.

Just a liittle bit more history to go through. Scabior cleared his through before he began talking once more. "Now so far we've been talking about the lake and what's in it." All that good stuff. "But important events have also taken place by and around the lake. Two major events in particular. Does anyone know of these events? And please, only say one per person." And he wasn't talking about little things like campfires either.
