And now she needed to answer the question. Hmmmmm. "I think the figure is supposed to be death....but I don't know if Death can really appear, and be all figurey." She combined this with some wiggley arm, and waist movements, like she was pretending to be a ghost. "Unlesss....death is a ghost." More wiggley ghosty movements. Indy liked this.
Scabior shook his head, but a slight smile appeared on his face. First years..sometimes their small minds were just so innocent it was amusing...and other times they were running up and down the castle snogging left and right...thankfully this wasn't the later."It was Death and..nice thought process. Three steps."

This time, Victoria's making sure she's answering the best answer she can give. "This figure is hooded, and is Death itself. Supposably waiting for any victim that drowns in the water that fails oneself to cross the river. " Victoria hoped that she doesn't sound too much like a Ravenclaw with that fancy answer she just gave. Maybe she should give more information on the questions, and maybe he'd give her more steps. "Death is actually an unknown being. It is either alive nor dead." Ehh....too much ancient fairytales.
"Right. Good job adding that extra bit of info as well. Take your steps." Three to be exact.

Listening to the bit about the three brothers story written by some guy that sounded a bit like Shakespeare, it must have been the bard part, the Gryffindor was wishing he had read that book before. But he was still going to answer the question, the Professor had mentioned making him laugh wouldn't hurt them. "Well professor each brother made it halfway across the bridge when they came across a...." he was grasping from another story he had read now. "A fearsome troll who demanded them to answer questions or he would throw them into the water." he ended confidently.
Dash had to start eliminating people. He knew that. Or their really wouldn't be a point to the game...unfortunately August was not one of them."Well that bit is from a muggle fairy tale, but they stole it from the Three Brothers." He chuckled. "You can take your steps." He didn't answer the question completely but he put his own spin to it.

Muggle Movies..right."...I would ask why you even know about films that are over 80 years old but..." He would just drop itl even even he hadn't seen those old films. "You can take your steps..." But her answer clearly had to be shaped better next time.

Were they supposed to raise their hand for this or something?

This next question though she was familiar with, but the look on her face when some Gryffindor answered with something about a troll was hard to miss. "They were stopped by a hooded figure. Most commonly said as being Death itself." There we go. Finally tore her gaze away from the weird Gryffindor as an afterthought crossed her mind. "Could have just been the dementor's cousin though. You never know..." Hehe.
"...Dementors cousin?..." He paused..the thought never occurring to him before. "Yes...could be.." NOW he just wanted to go and research more. "Take your steps. Good job." Not that he expected less from a Slytherin.

He hoped his added information was enough to satisfy the professor.
He had basically repeated everything he sad but added Death's name and reworded it. Which actually made it sound completely new...smart."Yes, great. Take your three steps."

Scabior WOULD have let it go. He would have. But the one slip made him cringe. "...The Grim Reaper does not carry around an axe" No no no. THAT mistake changed everything. "You're done Miss Carter-Hope. Stand off to the side, and make sure you pay attention"

"Right." He also talked a bit about the magic. Good. "Tale your steps.

Then there were the cheaters who answered after her. She wanted to glare at a few of them, but the professor was moving on, so she turned her attention to the question instead.

"It was the concept of death," she pointed out, raising her hand, "not death itself. Neither of the brothers actually died at that point." So, yeah--they didn't actually meet death. "...but anyway, it came in the form of a hooded figure--like this." On that note, she grabbed the hood of her own cloak and put it over her head. Then she turned sideways so that she gave off the same impression she'd seen most often while reading the popular book of fairy tales.

"Oh, and the figure was also a Slytherin," she added. "We know this, because..well, who else could be that cunning and ambitious?" Oh, and talented, too. Let's not forget that part.
Scabior nearly snorted at the impression that Sierra gave."Very nice visual. But I doubt he was a Slytherin. He did get out smarted at one point and that doesn't happen to them. Take your steps."[/b]

"The figure is 'Death,'" she answered with air quotes, "or at least that is what Beedle the Bard wants us to believe. Obviously, in reality, there is no such thing as 'meeting' Death face to face, or at least that's what I think since I've never actually died. Yet. A lot of my peers have mentioned Death looking like the Grim Reaper, but I disagree. I think there's no way you can actually know that unless you're like a ghost and you really HAVE died. So anyway, I think he was invisible until he had to appear becaaaaaause he gave one of the Peverell brothers part of his cloak of invisibility. SO. He's probably more like a ghost, like Indiana," that weird Ravenclaw child, "said."

There. THERE, SCABIOR, she had even cited her references. Ish.
He paused. "Take your steps. That was either well thought out..or you just are good at making up stories and ideas." Either way she got through.

Keefer waited until Scabior was looking at him, acknowledging his turn to speak. "Professor, Beedle says that the figure blocking their way was Death, and that Death spoke to them. But honestly, it couldn't have been Death. I mean, the figure was talking, and dead things don't talk."

Ironic, no? ...he hoped it was, at least.
Dash chuckled once more."This is true. Haven't seen a death thing talk before. However the Bard said it was Death and you mentioned that so take your steps."

There was nothing creative about the answer but it was accurate...he would let it go. But only this time."Take your steps." Hopefully the boy would remember next time.

Words like the Grim Reeper had been thrown out, but that didn't seem exactly right to the young lioness. Just because you had a hood and robes of black didn't make you the Grim Reeper - as Sierra had just demonstrated. "The hooded figure was Death," Kurumi said with her hand raised in the air. "Death often came to this particular river because, as you said, it is very dangerous so many people would drown trying to cross it so he could add to his collection of souls more easily. When he appeared to the brothers, he felt cheated, seeing as he is portrayed as being a character who does not like to be on the losing side of anything so he came up with a plan to get what he wanted in the end." Very Slytherin, just as Sierra had said, but Kurumi really didn't fancy getting a glare from the girl right now. "Which helped reveal something else about the hooded figure, that he is also a wandmaker and capable of creating powerful wands, including the power powerful wand in existence the Elder Wand." Which, brought everything full circle now, didn't it?
Scabior stared at the Prefect for a whole minute, before opening his mouth. "You should join Miss Carter-Hope and Miss Wheatborn off to the side. There was nothing creative or personal about anything that just left your mouth." And so..that was that.

Now, Jonathan can't wait for the questions. He's just hoping he'll get the next question right or as the Professor had suggested 'keep him entertained'. Should he dance in front of him?

Nah. That would be just the scariest thing.

Then the professor asked the next question regarding with the infamous Tale of the Three Brothers. Most wizards and witches are familiar with that story, unless their parents never told them this story or at least have read the book. Beetle the Bard is great.

'But when they are only halfway across a figured appears and blocks their path. Who or what is this figure?'

Jonathan was ready enough to answer that question "A hooded figure blocked their path" he nodded. That answers the 'what' in the question. And as for the 'who' Jonathan cleared his throat before answering "The black hooded figure is known to be as Death" he added.
Again a generic answer...and again he would let it slide for this round."Take your steps."

-----------

"Alright the people who are out-" He turned his head to look at the three girls. "Don't zone out just yet. Anyone who gets out might just have a chance to get extra points. Who ever does the best job in encouraging their classmates-even giving them creative answers will also get additional points."

Yeah? Good. It would probably be smart to pick one person and help them along but...he'd let them figure that out.

"And the four elder wands are still in this I see." He turned back to the remaining class. "Now Beedle wasn't specific on what death actually was. And who expected him to be? It was seen as a fairy tale. But yes, he did call it death. And death tricked the brothers. He pretended to congratulate them and offered them gifts. Anything they wanted, so they all picked their gifts, crossed the bridge and parted. For this class we are going to be focusing on only the eldest brother. Now, does this brother have a name?"
