She confidently approached the man and looked him in the eye as she said, "You're one of the new department heads in the Ministry, yes? I'm Sierra Greingoth, and I believe my father works with you."
She gave him one of her rare smiles. After all, it wouldn't be good for him to go back and tell Daddy Greingoth that his little girl had been rude. Yup, Sierra knew just who to get in good with, and this man fit in that very category.
Hmm, this girl seemed to know who he was already...and it was immediately apparent from her next sentence. "Ah, yes, it seems I do know your father. It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Greingoth," he replied with another smile and nod.

"S-sorry, sir!" He finally realised that he was being rude and quickly bowed , his dark black hair falling in front of his eyes. "Sorry! i thought you were someone else..." Biting his lower lip he got back up and smiled , although it was a bit of a nervous smile.
"Are you a new Professor, sir?" he asked, cocking his head to the side as his nervousness slowly faded away and his natural curiousity got back in place.
This one had definitely been expecting someone else. The real professor, obviously. "It's quite alright," Atticus replied with a kind smile. Then he shook his head. "No, I'm not a professor. Just a substitute."

Hearing laughter from a pair of boys just a few feet away, Atticus turned his attention to them, raising an eyebrow slightly. What was so funny over there? Hopefully it was nothing about him. But so long as they stopped once class started, he wouldn't take any point.

The girl was practically glowing and it didn't help that her hair had decided to sparkle slightly. At least she hadn't sprouted cat ears this time...that had happened when she had seen the announcement, but had managed to calm herself down enough for them to go away.
"Good day....sir," Kurumi said with a deep bow. Her mood was too bright to even notice the chatter between two first years, one Ravenclaw and one Hufflepuff. She really SHOULD say something to them, like not talk so much since this was a lesson and not the corridors, but her focus was too much on the man in front of her to even care. "THANK YOU for being here." Nope, she had no clue who he was, but all that mattered to her now was that she was going to have a proper Care of Magical Creatures lesson.
Having bowed once more to Mr. Whoever, Kurumi turned heel and headed towards a seat in the front. She smiled slightly when she saw that Jonathan had managed to make the lesson. Setting her bag down on the ground, Kurumi took a seat next to him and tried not to bounce too obviously in her seat.
And here was another enthusiastic student! Excellent! Atticus was thrilled that there were others who loved the class like he did. "Good afternoon," he said, smiling. And then - she was thanking him? He hadn't expected that. "You're quite welcome. I'm happy to be here." Nervous as well, but she didn't need to know that.

Was Carter going to hold her stuff during the WHOLE lesson? Maybe she could get him to write her notes for her, too. Hehe.
"Man sir"? Well, it was more accurate than professor, he supposed, and she seemed pretty excited to be here, so he'd accept it. He nodded at her salute. "Hello."

Violet then made her way to find a seat towards the second row of seats and sat down. She began fiddling with her hair a little bit waiting patiently for class to begin. Violet then began to wonder if she was going to see Chris at today's lesson or not. Of course she would just have to wait and see.
"Hello," he said, smiling as she said she was looking forward to the lesson. "Excellent! I'm glad to hear that."

She moved closer to take a look at the person who would be teaching them. It was a he. Yes, a man. "Good day Professor." She said. He would be introducing his name soon. Let us wait.

Alright, so it seemed it was time to get started.
"Good afternoon, everyone," Atticus said, smiling and waiting for them all to quiet down and turn towards him before continuing. "My name is Atticus Aldredge, Head of the Magical Creatures Department in the Ministry of Magic, and I will be filling in for your Care of Magical Creatures professor for this lesson.
"Now, I'm sure you are all eager to get started," he hoped they all were anyway, "so please follow me." He motioned for them to follow, then turned and began heading down the path. After just a couple minutes of walking, they reached the edge of a paddock, which was empty except for the black tarp covering what looked to be a rectangular-shaped box.
Atticus stopped and turned to the class. "Before I call out the creatures," he began, "I'd like you to tell me what you know about hippogriffs. What do they look like? And how are they classified by the Ministry of Magic?" OOC: Class has officially started! Anyone posting their character arriving after this post is late and will lose points. If you are just now joining us, pretend your character has been here the whole time and answer the question(s).
