Alyssa was sad to her friend Nicki go. But at least she had gotten her to laugh AND dance. But she was tired after that dance session and decided to take a breather in the gazebo before heading back to the castle. While she was there she decided to check on her egg. She had left her bag on the gazebo seat while she had been teaching Nicki the dance lessons. She reached over and noticed that her bag flap was open. Alyssa quickly grabbed the bag and looked inside. She felt around inside the bag for the woolen sock. “Hah! There you are.” Alyssa pulled out the sock and found that it was EMPTY!!

“Oh no! oh no!! please let it be inside. Please let it be inside.”Alyssa said starting to panic. She picked up her bag and poured all of its contents onto the ground. She searched through every article in the bag, which was a LOT!!. She tossed things aside, but the egg wasn’t inside it. 'Think, think, Alyssa. When was the last time you saw it?' Alyssa thought long and hard. The last time she had seen it was in the Great Hall and she was very sure that she had placed it back in the woolen sock which was then tucked securely in the bag. 'So where could it be?,'Alyssa thought to herself.

She looked all around the gazebo. Under the wooden seats in the gazebo, on the floor, but couldn’t find it anywhere. She then started looking in the grass around the gazebo. She was about to give up hope finding it when she saw a small trail in the grass leading from the gazebo to the bushes nearby. She quickly followed the trail and followed it until it stopped right in front of a bush. She pulled aside the branches of the bush and there she was!! Alyssa sighed a great sigh of relief and shook her head at the same time. Just when she thought, that Queenie had stopped playing games, she did it again.

Alyssa quickly pulled Queenie out of the bushes. She was shivering and it actually felt like she was running a temperature from being out in the cold for so long. Even though it was already late Spring here at Hogwarts, the weather could still be pretty cold on certain days and unfortunately today had to be one of those days. Alyssa quickly wrapped the egg in her robes and brought the egg back to the gazebo and placed it on the seat. She had to first dry it before cooling it down. Taking out her wand, she cast the drying spell, Argentum Siccus. Twirling her wand and pointing it at the egg, she said,”Ar-gent-um Sik-us.” She reached over to feel the surface of the egg. It was dry now, but still very warm to touch.

'I need to bring her temperature down,' Alyssa thought to herself. Even though the egg had been out in the cold, Alyssa knew that she had to attempt to cool it down in order to lower the egg's high temperature. So she took out her wand and cast the cooling down spell, Argentum Frigidus. She swished her wand and tapped the egg while saying “Ar-gent-um Frigid-us”. She reached over to touch the surface of the egg and felt a slight drop in temperature but it was still warmer than normal. So she swished her wand, tapped it on the egg and said “Ar-gent-um Frigid-us” again. This time the egg felt a little bit cooler, but not too cool that it needed to be warmed up again. In fact, its temperature felt like it was back to normal.

After brushing off the dirt and leaves from her shell, Alyssa used the Excolo spell to prevent it from rusting or tarnishing. She pointed her wand, and moving it while tracing its entire shape, she said,”Ex-CO-Lo”. A bright yellow light engulfed the egg and when it disappeared, a shiny and polished egg lay on the bench.

“Time to get you back home.”Alyssa told Queenie. She quickly picked up the egg, placed it back into the woolen sock and made sure that it was securely tucked in her bag. She then made sure that the flap of the bag was securely fastened before she turned and left the gazebo to make her way back to the castle.
