Having cleaned up the
notice board, Kurumi made her way to the study tables to begin the written portion for her Arithmancy assignment. She set her books, quills, and parchment on the table and began flipping through her textbook to find the section about number characteristics to make sure that she had all the fine details down before writing up her analysis when she felt an intense heat on her thigh.
Well...that was strange. She reached into her pant pocket only to find that the heat had gone when her robes were removed from covering her leg. Merlin, was her robe's pocket on fire? That was silly to think about, especially considering that the only thing she had in her pocket was her egg from Charms class. Being made of metal, there was no way that it should be THAT hot.
Laughing to herself, she picked up her quill. WAIT! HER EGG WAS TOO WARM!
"
HOPPING HIPPOGRIFFS!" she exclaimed as she threw her quill up in the air and reached into her pocket. The metal was HOT, but not too hot to the touch. If she held it in the palm of her hand for too long it would probably start to hurt, but she didn't intend to leave it like that for too long.
As she held it, she realized that most of the moisture from the egg was gone. Probably had evaporated from all the heat the egg was exerting. Sweated until it could sweat no more perhaps.
"
KYAAA" she chirped setting the egg on the table and pulling out her wand. Okay, now which bit to go for first. Should she add moisture to it or cool it down? Was there really an order to these things? Maybe her egg was running a fever? No, that wasn't really impossible since the professor had said that there was no living creature inside the egg, but perhaps thinking about it as a creature would help in the situation. Every time she was sick and ran a fever, the first thing her mother did was give her liquids. Lots and lots of liquids, so that is what she was going to do first.
Setting her handkerchief under the egg to make sure that it didn't start rolling around due to the introduction of moisture, she pointed her wand at the egg and repeated the incantation to herself a few times.
Argentum Humidus...Argentum Humidus...Argentum Humidus...Argentum Humidus...
"
Ar-gent-um," she said nice and clear while she twirled her wand. "
Humid-us," and a firm point at the egg. Thankfully, nothing completely out of the ordinary happened. Well, the egg did spin to the right a few times before coming to a halt, resembling a spinning top for the duration of its performance. The egg seemed to be moist now - ew, she hated that word - so that was good. What it needed now was to be cooled down.
Kurumi wiggled in her seat a bit before pointing her wand at the egg again and concentrating on the next spell. "
Ar-gent-um," she said while swishing her wand. "
Frigid-us," and she tapped the egg gently. It shivered under the touch of her wand, and continued to do so. After a few moments, Kurumi reached out and touched the egg with her bare hand. Nope, still too hot. Kurumi repeated the incantation and movement a few more times, the egg shivering each time she did. However, with each tap, the shivering began less and less noticeable until it didn't shiver at all. Slowly, she reached out and touched the egg. Juuuuuuuuuust right.
Crisis averted? It seemed that way for now.
She picked up the egg and held it in her hands. "
I really out to give you a name," she said with a soft giggle. What that name would be, she had no idea. Something to sleep on.
