"There four inner planets, Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars, along with four outer planets, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Until 2006, Pluto had been considered a planet, but that title was revoked when a formal definition of a planet was established."

Keefer still thought of Pluto as a planet. The poor thing, getting disregarded like that!

She shifted on her seat and raised her hand, "Professor, there are currently eight planets in the universe. Mars, Mercury, Earth, Venus, Jupiter, Neptune, Saturn, and Uranus." she answered. But that was definitely not on the correct order.

"There are eight planets in our solar system" he said as he tried to remember what he had read over the summer. "Mercury" he held one finger in the air. "Venus" two fingers. "Eh..Mars?" three fingers and now he was hungry for that muggle candy... "jupiter" fourth finger came up. "Saturday..no eh..Satorno...i think." he thought for a moment while biting his lower lip and raised his hand with the four fingers in the air again. "Uranus and Neptune!~"
He looked proud at his answer and smiled broadly. But then he looked at his fingers and saw only seven fingers "Earth?" he suddenly said and looked clueless because he wasn't sure if he was right.

At least the good part was that professor Roslund didn't get mad or anything, since most of the professors seemed to like to take points around there.
Anyway. Back to his question. "There's Pluto," her favourite, "even though it is not exactly considered a planet," more like a tiny planet, but it was still her favourite. "Neptune," Nora went on, still with her hand in the air, but she eventually let it fall back down, "Uranus, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Earth, Venus and Mercury."
And yes, she knew she started with the last one, but she did that on purpose, since it was her favourite. Hehe.

In a random guess, Jonathan answered "Mars... Neptune...uhmmm... Jupiter." that's the three planets he had memorized. "Sa--saturn? Venus... Pluto" he wasn't sure if that were correct. He looked down this time. What else? Was he still missing more or has he said it all? "Mer" yeah, there is a 'mer' something too. "Mercury and Uranus?" he smiled and of course the most obvious answer of all, which he failed to say in the first place..."EARTH"
Was there still more? Jonathan can't seem to remember more of it. How many planets are there again?

Hand in the air, she answered. "There are 8 planets in the solar system, professor. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. There were 9 in 2006, but Pluto was demoted to a dwarf planet."
Then she lowered her hand, very proud of her answer.

Name the planets. Again an easy question, he wasn't sleepy anymore and all his attention turned to the class because Astronomy was now...his favorite class. Hehe. But everyone already named the planets and repeating it again was boring. "Sir, the solar system consists of the sun, which is circled by eight planets which are: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune. That is the order in which they orbit, or circle around the sun. There use to be a ninth planet called Pluto but a long time ago someone decided it was too small to be considered a planet... or something like that."
Putting her hand down she sat there listening to what everyone else had to say. She knew there were other things out there like moons, many dwarf planets (or plutoids), an asteroid belt, comets, meteors, and other... stuff. She just didn't bother with mentioning any of that as it was only the planets that were asked about.

Since there were the same planets in the solar system, her answer would be the same. But she was sure that even though he would be hearing the same answers over and over again, he would still appreciate student participation.

So she raised her hand and answered."The planets in the solar system are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Pluto used to be considered a planet when it was discovered back in 1930 but some Muggle Planetary organization back in 2006, recategorized poor Pluto as a dwarf planet because it was discovered that it was actually one of many bodies within the then newly identified Kuiper belt. Why they didn't discover that earlier, who knows. But when they removed Pluto, there was a huge outcry especially from the teaching Academy in the Muggle community because now they had to change all their teaching material!"

Among the first to answer was Ms Force from Slytherin and Ms Stone of Ravenclaw. "Yes Venus is a planet and so is Earth dears." He responded before waiting to for them to recite more planets but they never came, oddly enough. Had he worded the question wrongly?

Scratching his head absent mindedly Edvard was glad when Mr Agger, Mr Uronen, Ms Potter and Ms DeCour broke his trail of thoughts. "You are all correct. Pluto is now classified as a dwarf planet after they changed the requirements for being considered a planet back in 2006. It almost lead to a riot in the academic world since the change in classification meant that the teachers had to change the curriculum."

"Another important fact to remember which Miss Slazar brought up is that all the planets orbit around the sun which is the heart of the solar system." Allowing the student’s time to take down notes Edvard went over and opened the cup boards to look at the state of the telescopes. They seemed to be in working order.

A quick glance out the window showed him that it was high time to move on. Clapping his hands together to get the student’s attention he said "Right, can everyone take out their telescopes? It’s a perfect night to look at mercury so set up your telescopes in front of the windows and see if you can pin point mercury."

OCC: The next task is to RP taking out your characters telescope, and trying to find mercury in the sky. If your student didn’t bring a telescope then feel free to RP claiming one from the cupboard. Feel free to be as successful or not as you want with finding the planet. I don’t mind if you partner up either. Have fun with it! I will teach a spell to focus the telescope lens in my next post.
