Hogwarts RPG Name: Megara Kostas First Year | Chapter Five - A Cause For Celebration June 1978
Izabella dumped the boxes in a corner and smoothed out her dress as she looked about the room. There were sparkling lights hanging from the ceiling above a large dancefloor. A few seats and tables were dotted around the edges and across the wall opposite her, there was a long table filled with plates of food, where Sirius was now placing the numerous bottles they had brought with them.
Lily was wearing a floaty green dress which fell to her knees and swished behind her as she walked. The straps were thin and the neckline modest, her hair falling across her shoulders in gentle waves. She raised an eyebrow at James, her hands on her hips.
“You got all that from the kitchens?” she said.
“Sirius and Izabella made me go to Hogsmede.” James said, shrugging. Lily laughed and reached up to kiss his cheek. James grinned and rushed over to help Sirius unload the boxes of drinks.
The girls from Izabella's room were the first to arrive, giggling endlessly. Their hair was neatly placed in curls as tight as their dresses. They all beamed at James who welcomed them graciously until Lily dragged him away.
A group of seventh years arrived and looked about, nodding in an impressed manner. A tall blonde boy, Jack Ferrell, whom Izabella had once gone on a Hogsmede visit with made a beeline for Izabella until Sirius, glaring furiously, stepped in front of her and wrapped an arm around her waist tightly. Izabella rolled her eyes, but a small smile crept across her face as Sirius pulled her close against him and led her to the dancefloor.
The party was soon in full swing and as Sirius was with James and Remus, Izabella took a seat at the edge of the room, staring into the bottom of her glass with distant eyes.
“I must say, this is a decent party. Not bad for a bunch of Gryffindors.” Regulus commented as he took a seat beside Izabella. She looked up at him and sighed.
“I'd get out of here if I were you.” she said, taking a swig of her firewhiskey, her face screwing up slightly at the burn in her throat. “Sirius will kill you if he finds you here.”
Regulus rolled his eyes.
“I'm not afraid of my brother. I just wanted to check you were okay, as the only Slytherin here.”
Izabella sighed and arched an eyebrow at him.
“Severus sent you didn't he?”
“No-”
“Well you can tell him I'm fine.” she said firmly, standing up. Regulus followed her and grabbed her wrist.
“Izabella he is just concerned.”
“I don't care.”
“What's going on?” Lily asked, her forehead creasing. Regulus dropped Izabella's wrist.
“I'll see you later.” he mumbled as he sank into the shadows and left the party. Izabella sighed and refilled her glass.
“Izabella.” Lily said, her arms folding across her chest. Izabella rolled her eyes and returned to her seat, Lily sitting beside her.
“Tobias is dead.” she mumbled. Lily's eyebrows shot up, then her expression became gentle and she leant forward.
“Are you okay?” she asked quietly. Izabella nodded, then shrugged slightly and took a sip of her drink.
“I'm not sure how I'm supposed to feel.”
Lily put a hand on her arm and squeezed gently.
“He was practically your father. You're allowed to be upset.”
“But after everything he did... He wasn't exactly a nice man was he?” Izabella sighed.
“How's Sev taking it?”
“He's glad. I've never seen him more happy.” Izabella said with a shrug. “He thinks he's the head of the family now and finds it necessary to try and control me.”
Lily rolled her eyes.
“He's always been like that. He's just protective.”
Izabella nodded slightly.
“I know... It's just-”
“Everything okay girls?” James asked as the Mauraders bounded towards them. Lily turned and opened her mouth, but Izabella jumped up and plastered a smile on her face.
“Everything's wonderful. Great party.” she said grinning.
Lily glared at her, but kept quiet and Izabella smiled gratefully as she left to dance with Sirius.
As the morning began to rise, people began to creep back to their dormitories until it was just Izabella, Lily and the four boys left.
Remus waved his wand and collected all of the empty bottles, placing them into the bag that James was holding. He tied a knot in the top, then placed it in the corner.
“The House Elves will come and tidy up.” he said stretching.
“James! You made the mess, you should tidy it up.”
“They offered to clear up.” James said defensively. Lily rolled her eyes and Izabella chuckled. She removed her shoes, rubbing the bottom of her feet as they throbbed painfully.
“I can't believe we're leaving school.” Lily said quietly, looking about the room with a small smile on her face. The others grinned and Izabella sighed slightly, standing up and picking up her shoes.
“I'll see you on the train.” she said, making her way to the door.
“I'll walk you back.” Sirius said, appearing by her side. Quietly, they slipped out of the Room of Requirement and made their way along the empty corridors. They walked in silence until they were in the dungeons and outside of the Slytherin common room.
“Goodnight.” Izabella said, turning to smile at Sirius. He grabbed her waist and pulled her towards him, wrapping his arms around her tightly and pressing his lips to hers. After a long moment he released her and she smiled.
“What was that for?” she asked.
“Because, you're beautiful.” he grinned. Izabella laughed and kissed his lips once more.
“Goodnight Sirius.”
“'Night.” he said, leaning against the wall. She turned as she pushed open the door, smiled then carefully closed the door and crept across the Slytherin common room.
“It's past two in the morning.” came a voice from the chair by the fire. Izabella jumped and dropped her shoes, causing them to clatter as they made contact with the polished floor.
“Severus! You scared the life out of me!” she complained, walking over to him and glaring at the group by the fire.
“The train leaves at eleven. You better not miss it Izabella.” Severus warned.
“You're all still up!” she complained.
“But we didn't leave the common room.”
“Regulus did.” Izabella said, grinning at the annoyed looks on their faces.
“You can join us if you want.” Avery said, smirking. Izabella rolled her eyes and picked up her shoes.
She made her way to the door that led to her bedroom and creeped in. The girls in her room were still awake, chatting about the party and giggling.
Izabella smiled at their jokes as she pulled on her pyjamas, then crawled into bed and fell into a deep yet uneasy sleep.
