Chapter Fifty-Five - Happy Endings
“Lucia! Stop right there you little madam.” Izabella said, glaring at her daughter as she fought with the pushchair wheel that was stuck in the elevator. She yanked the handlebars and managed to free the wheel just as her two year old began to toddle off again, Teddy Lupin following gladly behind her.
“What am I going to do when all three of you can walk eh?” she mumbled to the baby that was sat on her hip, who was currently fascinated by the Ministry and wasn't listening to a word Izabella said.
Managing to catch up with the tornado toddlers, she grabbed Lucia's hand before they walked into the Auror Office, parking the pushchair in an empty space by the door.
“Dadda!” Lucia yelled, running the well-known path towards Sirius' desk where he lounging, feet up on the desk, roaring in laughter. At the sight of his daughter, he scooped her up in his arms and swung her through the air, much to the delight of Lucia, who squealed happily.
“Put her down before she's sick.” Izabella said leading Teddy away from the doorway and into Harry's open arms. Sirius grinned and placed Lucia back on her feet where she wobbled slightly then began to make her way over to Harry and Teddy, comfortable once she had seen her father.
Sirius placed his hands on either side of Izabella's face and kissed her, his thumbs tracing patterns on her cheeks softly, until the baby on her hip cried out and reached for Sirius' hair.
“Aw Heidi, are you not getting any attention sweetheart?” Sirius said, taking the baby and drowning her in kisses whilst she giggled delightedly. He held Heidi expertly in one arm as he took a seat by his desk.
A young woman with startling blue eyes and dark hair popped her head around the corner of one of the offices.
“Izabella. Please come back to work soon and save me from these men and their awful jokes.” she begged. Izabella laughed and looked about the office.
“It has gone down hill since I left.” she said, looking about at the overflowing bins and empty food and drink packaging on the desk. She shook her head, smiling fondly.
“We've not done too badly on our own. We've managed to round up nearly all of the Death Eaters.” Harry said defensively.
“Finally. Only took you two years.” Izabella teased.
“Well if you would stop going off to have babies...” retorted Harry.
Izabella chuckled and smiled down at Sirius as he grabbed her hand and pulled her closer to his chair.
“Well don't come back too soon.” he said grinning.
“I thought you missed me?”
“You're the one who comes in to see me nearly everyday.”
“I come to see Ron actually...” Izabella said, laughing as Ron grinned as he passed with a pile of paperwork. Sirius chuckled and pulled her closer, wrapping an arm around her waist as she perched on his knee.
“What I meant was, maybe we could have another baby before you come back?”
“Are you serious?” Izabella said, arching an eyebrow.
“Yes.” he replied calmly.
“I don't know Sirius-”
“I'll take that as a maybe. Which means yes.” he grinned then pulled her forward so that she lowered her face to his and he pressed his lips against hers for a long moment. She looked into his eyes and sighed deeply, a smile spreading across her face then turned to the room as she remembered her message.
“Mrs Weasley wants everyone at the Burrow by no later than six o'clock tonight,” Izabella said, fixing Ron and Harry with a stern gaze. “She means it. Don't be late again.”
Harry laughed.
“I don't know what you mean, I'm always-”
“Lucia put that-!”
There was a loud bang a cloud of black ash as Lucia managed to take the wand off Harry's desk. She stood in the middle of the office, holding the wand, her face slightly black from the soot, then the shock kicked in and she started to wail. Whilst Sirius roared with laughter, Izabella bit her lip, holding back a giggle and rushing forward, taking Lucia in her arms and cradling her gently against her chest and stroking her hair soothingly. She smiled contentedly as Lucia started to giggle, unharmed.
Harry was alive and well. Her two beautiful girls were growing up to be truly wonderful.
And Sirius. That rugged boy with the cheeky smile, that would never admit he had a girlfriend, was her husband.
A familiar squirm wriggled in her stomach and Izabella frowned, placing a hand delicately on her midriff. She laughed slightly. She had a strong feeling that Sirius would get his wish soon and she wouldn't be returning to work for a while longer. She shook her head and looked about at her family.
Life just kept getting better.
