After a thorough explanation of Karkaroff’s background Ellouise was able to discern the following facts. Firstly, he could not be trusted, secondly he was a coward and had his hands in both baskets, and thirdly he was a key. He was what she needed, nay who she needed in order to successfully retrieve her parents. Now it was simply a matter of connecting the dots without ruffling anybodies feathers. The fact that he had only stepped forward in the last year was a testament to his loyalties, but Ellouise was sure she could use this to her advantage, if only she could meet with him. Xavier hadn’t been too impressed with Dumbledore’s explanation or reasoning for Karkaroff’s involvement.
“Crack-pot”, he said after Dumbledore had left the room. Ellouise had nudged him in the ribs with her elbow, it wasn’t a very nice thing to say... out loud. Though admittedly she was thinking the same thing.

After a brief cuddle Xavier took Elle’s hand and dragged her out of the library back towards the drawing room. Deep hearty laughter could be heard all through the house. What in the name of Merlin’s underpants was going on? As they rounded the corner to the drawing room Xavier let go of Ellouise’s hand and thrust his arms up in the air.
“Reg!” he exclaimed as he approached the dishevelled looking man sitting with Sirius and James.
Standing up gingerly, Regulus embraced Xavier in an awkward, and intensely manly one armed hug. Ellouise hung back in the doorway observing the scene. Xavier motioned for her to step forward and join them, pulling her in close to his side as she approached.
“Ellie, this is my Uncle Regulus, Reg this is my Ellie”, he said affectionately, showing her off a bit.
Ellouise smiled politely, “Nice to finally meet you”, she said taking in the grizzly appearance of the man. Ellouise was reminded of the letter Xavier had received from this man, it had had a resounding finality to it, as if it was one of those last goodbyes. But he was here now, so that had to count for something.
“Likewise my Ellie”, he joked. Sirius and James laughed heartily, Xavier’s lip curled up in amusement. Turning to Xavier, Regulus lowered his voice to a barely audible whisper, “How’d you land a bird like that?!” Xavier responded with a light chuckle, “Black charm”, he whispered back. Ellouise pulled away from Xavier’s side and took a seat on the couch, perching her feet on the edge of the coffee table. She was itching to know what he had been up to that was so dangerous, and she was particularly curious to know how Dumbledore was involved- he hadn’t mentioned it at all to them so whatever it was, it was top secret.
