Rowena had been looking dreadful for days, but she always avoided answering the question when anyone asked her, so Godric had given up trying.
The two sat in silence at the dinner table since Helga, with good reason, refused to leave her Hufflepuff students. Godric folded his hands together and leaned his chin on them.
“I’ve failed,” he said suddenly. “I was living in a fantasy and didn’t see what was happening.”
“Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living,” she said softly. ”It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. We must look forward.”
