Hermione enjoyed coming home during the holidays as working for Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures could prove to be very stressful – not to mention frustrating as some of her co-workers refused to give her the signatures she needed to pass a new law allowing house elves the right to refuse to disobey their masters if they were instructed to do something that went against wizarding law. “Hermione,” her father called from the kitchen. “Do you mind going into my supply cabinet and getting my some floss? I seem to have some popcorn impacted in my teeth.”

Wand in hand, Hermione searched through her father’s supplies until she found the floss and handed it to him. She hated using magic on her parents, considering they were muggles and were perfectly capable of taking care of themselves, but watching her father struggle to find the stray kernel that was wedged between his tooth and gums was too comical for her not to do something.

“Waddiwasi,” she whispered under her breath.

“Pesky little bugger,” her father laughed thinking he had removed it with his floss.
