It took Ellouise another second for everything to sink in and for her to find her voice... and then she let loose on Charlie, advancing on him, her wand drawn.
“How dare you!” she yelled.
“Don’t you dare take this out on Xavier! He’s got nothing to do with it. You’re just bitter and you hate that I rejected you last night, and you know what! I actually felt sorry for you. I didn’t want to hurt you at all, I felt so guilty for doing it... but now I can see you’re just as arrogant and pig-headed as any average man! You feel you have to get in the way of our friendship because of what?! Jealousy? Well take it out on me Charlie, I’m the one that hurt you.”
She drew in a deep breath before continuing.
“So it’s ok for you to distract me from all this?! But it’s not ok for Xavier to distract me. You’re a jerk, but don’t pretend that you’re concerned for my safety! Hell you made me ride a dragon yesterday! You are the last person in the world that should be protecting me. You’re only doing this for yourself. You can’t stand the fact that I hurt your feelings! Well guess what Charlie! I lied to you! You want to know the real reason why I don’t like you in that way? Why I wouldn’t kiss you back?! First of all now is as good a time as any, secondly although I thought you were a nice guy, I don’t have feelings for you... I have feelings for someone else, and I’ll be damned if I let you get in the way of that!” she yelled.
Now it was Charlie’s turn to look defeated, his eyes glazed over and his face contorted as if he was in pain. Ellouise knew she had hurt him, she could see it, hear it, and feel it.

“Dragons! You not only put her in the presence of them, but you made her ride one?!” it was Xavier’s turn to yell now. Everyone just stared at them, their eyes glued to them like moths to a flame, neither of them knowing what to say or how to diffuse the situation, it had been a number of years since they’d had to worry about teenage hormones. Molly stood slowly and approached her son. Moving in front of Xavier and Ellouise so that she was shielding Charlie from their wands.
“Dragons Charlie! Honestly what were you thinking? Are you mad?!” she said, her voice exasperated. “Knew that good for nothing old coot was a bad influence on you, didn’t think you’d still be visiting... and taking Elle with you! You must have been out of your mind. Dragons are wild, dangerous beasts Charlie! Not date material!” her voice was rising now, concern for her son’s emotional wellbeing trumped by her need to lecture him about the dangers of dragons. This continued for some time. Ellouise, already frustrated and annoyed left the kitchen, she stormed through the drawing room, attracting curious looks from Harry and Ron.
“What’s wrong Elle?” asked Harry as he noticed her livid expression.
“Nothing Harry... I just really need to get some air. Listen, I’m going to head out for a bit. If anyone asks I’ll be back for dinner.”
Harry nodded and he turned back to his chess game with Ron who was severely dominating him.
